• Accutane - Cures acne, can cause horrible death. Worth it?

Washing my face didn't help, no matter how hard I tried. I then used various cremes, that stung and dried my face. I then tried foams, that would wash off and become inneffective. I then tried "home treatments", like dissolved asprin mixed with windex, and that caused a burn around my lips. I finally tried accutane. I'm pretty cleared up.
So you'd rather have shit loads of side effects compared to acne on your face?
A kid at my school was on Accutane for a while and he ended up being severely depressed and killed his little sister in her sleep. When he got off Accutane after that he killed himself because he said he couldn't live with the guilt of killing his four year old sister. That shit is dangerous.
My friend started using Accutane back in middle school. She ended up getting Crohn's disease and on Facebook I see every once in awhile she has to go get surgery done. A big price to pay, I'd rather live with a facefull of acne than have to deal with this:
it really varies from person to person, for example I took 2 course of roaccuntance because my acne relapsed and the only side affects I had were dry lips and skin. [editline]11th June 2011[/editline] It's not as dangerous as people make it out to be, your dermatologist should be able to tell you the common side affects for the dosage that he/she gives you. [editline]11th June 2011[/editline] Also, taking it in smaller doses over a longer period of time gives you less side affects.
I'm on it right now, have been for about 3 months. 40 mg per pill, twice a day; so far, the only side effects I've seen on me are nosebleeds and dry lips (which is pretty much a given). It affects everyboy differently and it's a monitored program, so if your doctor notices different levels in your liver or whatever then just quit taking it. However, it's helped my acne quite a bit, much more than proactiv or anything else has.
All you did was look it up online? Fuck the internet ask a doctor.
Well most doctors don't give a fuck. They're pill pushers these days.
Not worth it. Acne sucks but it's not that bad.
Not worth it. Acne sucks but it's not that bad.
When it's on your body it is pretty bad. Especially the red cystic acne. Not only painful and scarring but when you are invited to go to a waterpark or something you can't unless you don't give a single fuck about what everyone thinks about you, but besides that it'd probably rip open your acne going down a slide making you bleed etc. Shit's pretty serious.
Those are fucking ridiculous side effects, why would they even sell this shit?
As I said before, most doctor prescribed drugs have these side effects and more. The only difference is acne isn't really worth risking it over most of the time.
I've taken it at one point, yeah I couldn't drink any soda for a year, nothing but water ( which was good for me in a way) and I it also shut my liver down. My lips were horribly chapped and falling off and my hair got extra coarse and frizzy. 0 oil on me. I did come out find in the end though. No horrible death here. I did have to sign papers before taking it that concerned me in the case that I actually died horribly. The reason I took it was because I had horrible acne on my back and chest that caused large circular scars and I had we had to keep it from going to me face. [editline]11th June 2011[/editline] also tons of nosebleeds. [editline]11th June 2011[/editline] and don't worry FP, my erection was just fine. :pervert:
There's many different kinds of acne. Accutane I believe is for bacterial acne, bacteria under the skin fucking your face up.
Balding, and a dry anus don't really sound worth it Just Shower every morning, use a moisturizing body wash or soap (I found out that was my problem, fucking soap drying out my skin) watch what you eat. Try to stay away from greasy ass shit like friend chicken, and stuff like candy, peanuts, and sugary stuff. Use acne pads every morning, and use spot treatment. If eather of those are drying out your skin, stop and use something else, or it will just get worse. (You can wear it during the day, just rub it in really well so you cant see it) Whenever you shave, use aftershave. It will keep your neck from breaking out. Don't touch your face. Wash your sheets and pillow case often (at least twice a month) You're just sleeping in your own grease and dirt. Hmmm Can't really think of anything else. Try not to pop any zits unless they'll pop easy, and wipe them out really good. That clear blood that comes out is going to make it spread. Just put some spot treatment on it if they can't be easily poped. It will get better as you age. I had it really bad, and when I got to senior year, it started getting a lot better and now I barely have anything because I started taking care of my skin.

I talked to my dermatologist about it, and although I decided against it, he said all the serious health risk shit is total bull, except for the depression/emotional instability, and birth defects. That being said, definitely consider the minor effects. But I doubt you'll be getting knocked up anytime soon, so just listen to happy music and you'll be fine. In the 15 years he's been allowed to prescribe Isotretinoin, he has successfully treated over 4000 patients, 2 of which had emotional problems, and that is all. However, several of my friends who have taken accutane did experience rather dry skin, so I'd recommend the best facial moisturizer and lip balm you can get your hands on. That, and a nasal saline spray, because if your nose gets dry you'll want to tear it off. :v:
Experiment with it. Try it, see if it has an effect on your acne, if it does then stop using it and see if the acne comes back. Only way that you can tell whether a med as catch-all as accutane is going to work for you is to try it.
I don't know, dude. Try dressing up like a ninja, it works for me! :buddy:
I was on acutane for a year. I got some chapped lips. That was really all i had as side effects. A lot of those side effects are from when you don't drink enough/overdose like a dipshit and the depression and suicide are there only because a senator's son was on it and killed himself. That was the only reported case of that ever happening. It made me very happy actually, not one single bit of acne was had after acutane. It is a miracle drug. Take it.
I have some zits here and there, but I have some really bad scars. Not to mention my really oily skin. Is there any way to get rid of all the oil?
I found a gel called Ketsugo. It blocks/coats up your pores for the day so your face doesn't end up accumulating oil throughout the day, it worked for a while but it wasn't enough for me.
You can get worse side effects from eating regular pain relief pills.
I've had cystnic acne since I was around 11. I took quite a few kinds of pills till I was 16 and they seemed to work, but once I stopped taking them, my acne came right back. In November 2010 I decided to take Decutan(contains accutane) and have gotten off them around a month ago and so far my face is clear as fuck.
Stop taking pills for your acne. You don't know what kind of damage you're doing to your body when they give you antibiotics or accutane. Look for natural treatments, try changing your diet, etc.
my friend took accutane and did died
Yes because a leaf that has squirrel shit on it works wonders for polio.
I thought this thread was about acne, but yeah, I was referring to antibiotics being used to treat acne. I took them for a year, it didn't help my condition at all, actually my skin was probably at its worst in my life when I took them. Also the bacteria eventually evolves to be resistant to the antibiotics, rendering them useless. It also kills all the bacteria in your intestine which were supposed to help digest food. edit - if you want to trade boxes instead of having an actual discussion that's cool too

Why would I want to wash 7 towels a week?
