I was on it from 2007 for 6 months, these are my pictures: Before: http://i283.photobucket.com/albums/kk301/m-ant/me.png http://i283.photobucket.com/albums/kk301/m-ant/DSCF1637.jpg http://i283.photobucket.com/albums/kk301/m-ant/5.jpg http://i283.photobucket.com/albums/kk301/m-ant/6.jpg Mid way through, you can see the dryness of my lips: http://i283.photobucket.com/albums/kk301/m-ant/PICT0012-1.jpg And today: http://i283.photobucket.com/albums/kk301/m-ant/PICT0126.jpg Worst part was the dryness, I had Vaseline on my lips 24/7 for 6 months, I would open my mouth and the sides would crack and bleed, and I would wake up and have a pillow covered in blood from a nose bleed. Was I depressed? No not really, but then again I wouldn't even say it boosted my confidence, I had my acne for so long and it took so long to clear I didn't really notice it, and I think this has carried on to now as I was constantly being rejected by girls I has lowered my confidence even without the acne. I had the treatment through the NHS and so it was free. If you go through the NHS, expect it to take about a year, as you have to try everything else - accutane is the last one, and once you get given an appointment, the NHS waiting list was about 2 months. I have the scars now and the NHS don't cover this, and I'm looking at treatment which could cost around £1,000 - £2,000 privately. But still, worth doing if needed.
..Oh my god, you poor man..
Try 'Oxy-10' It kinda makes your skin dry for the first few times you use it, and makes it a bit flakey, but a week or 2 into it, you'll only have one or two small spots. Anyways, it's normal, I know it can really make you feel bad about yourself, but just be patient.
Don't know if anyone has posted this drug yet but I'd advise using Isotretinoin. I used it and my acne was cured in a couple of months. The only problem I experienced was that I would get depression problems from time to time.
When it's on your body it is pretty bad.
I find body acne eases up a lot if you remove the hair in that area. (By a method other than shaving) Something like Nair works great but I can't be assed to keep buying it. Something to keep in mind if you have bad chest/shoulder/back acne and have body hair there though. I had mild chest acne and it all but went away when I used that stuff to remove the hair there, and it hasn't come back despite the hair having grown back.
I highly doubt all those side effects would occur
Still, a drug with this many side effects should be taken off the market or something.
Still, a drug with this many side effects should be taken off the market or something.
Nah [editline]11th June 2011[/editline] Why would it? You get told all the problems so many times it's ridiculous, you have to go through a fair bit to take it (monthly blood tests), it more than enough tells you the bad things that can happen.

It helps I promise.
Try going for either Minomycin or Bactrim first. If they don't work, then consider Accutane.

I'm not sure if this is sold in the States, but a better solution than this [especially because accutane is a teratogen, which means it can cause birth deffects, and thus can really not be good overall] is getting something with beonzyl peroxide. Beonzyl peroxide is an organic non-explosive peroxide, which means that it has free oxygen in there, and this will always kill the bacteria as best as possible, and since it is literally an oxidizing agent, it is impossible for a bacterium to be immune against it. [It does mean it has bleaching properties and can whiten textile and hair.] It's always combined with another agent, an antibiotic, either with clindamycin, known most famously as Duac Gel, which isn't something super biting. Also adapalene, and it has even been show to work well in conjunction (adapalene and then clindamycin) but I'm not a dermatologist, so ask one if you visit, because both of these are prescription.
A few years ago, my friend took accutane to get rid of his bad acne. He says it made him really depressed. He's still alive today so you'll just have to tough it out
This is more of a last resort kind of solution. Try some other, non-dangerous things, I mean, it's not as if you have a huge dick on your forehead.
Acne goes away. Sit in the sun alot, drink lots of water and wash your face like three times a day. Works for me.
Balding, and a dry anus don't really sound worth it Just Shower every morning, use a moisturizing body wash or soap (I found out that was my problem, fucking soap drying out my skin) watch what you eat. Try to stay away from greasy ass shit like friend chicken, and stuff like candy, peanuts, and sugary stuff. Use acne pads every morning, and use spot treatment. If eather of those are drying out your skin, stop and use something else, or it will just get worse. (You can wear it during the day, just rub it in really well so you cant see it) Whenever you shave, use aftershave. It will keep your neck from breaking out. Don't touch your face. Wash your sheets and pillow case often (at least twice a month) You're just sleeping in your own grease and dirt. Hmmm Can't really think of anything else. Try not to pop any zits unless they'll pop easy, and wipe them out really good. That clear blood that comes out is going to make it spread. Just put some spot treatment on it if they can't be easily poped. It will get better as you age. I had it really bad, and when I got to senior year, it started getting a lot better and now I barely have anything because I started taking care of my skin.
bahahahaha I love when people post stuff like this as if the cure to acne is good hygiene. Sorry bro, I've practiced all of the above since before my acne even got bad and nothing worked. Don't pretend like people who have acne don't know/haven't tried all of this. another one of these is right above me Honestly OP, I'm in the same situation. I've actually purchased the accutane but have failed to start it because my skin has become a lot clearer lately after I started using Lotus Moon Blemish Control Gel coupled with time-release antibiotics. I really didn't want to start accutane because I thought I'd break out initially (even though I could have started it a month ago and that phase would have ended and my skin would be looking great right now...god damnit) and I'm scared shitless of the side effects, many of which have been reported by people in this thread. It might be worth it, acne has made my life a living fucking hell and I already have a genetic predisposition for hard mood swings and general depression so I've probably thought about killing myself every day for the past two years--acne coupled with personal issues like my mom having cancer and my biological father being abusive really almost killed me. Had I not been accepted to the best film school and program in the world this year, I almost surely would have done it. To the people that are posting in this thread and have never had it: you really don't understand how bad it can be. It seriously ruined my high school experience and gave me a whole host of psychological issues that led to low levels of self-confidence and social anxiety. There isn't a day that goes by in which I don't wonder what my life would be like without it or who I would be like as a person had I never inherited it. I continue to question whether I'll be able to overcome my psychological issues or rid myself of this horrible shit.
I used it. I'm now blind and deaf, stuck in a mental hospital for psychosis, sometimes I even ask myself if this internet forum facepunch is just a figment of my imagination and I'm really just thinking all of this up in my mind.
Acne goes away. Sit in the sun alot, drink lots of water and wash your face like three times a day. Works for me.
When I was 16-19 I was outside all day every day in the summers, drinking plenty of water and washing my face often, going through any possible over the counter acne treatment I could find and even got to the point where I was prescribed antibiotics by my dermatologist. Those things did nothing to help my acne and in fact my acne was at its worst back then.
i just saw an ad on TV for a lawyer who was willing to get lawsuits for people who had problems with Accutane
Don't take that! What the fuck?
hahaha [sp]You better hope your good lookin under all that acne or it wont matter, the pussy still wont come[/sp] (User was banned for this post ("Miss use of spoiler tags, and Flaming." - Dav0r))
Sure as hell would get more pussy than you, acne or not. :smug:
Did you know that the eyedrops for conjunctivitis can cause aplastic anemia, which basically means your immune system goes nuts and attacks your bone marrow? Oh, at most you'll feel tired for a while and then drop into a coma and die three months down the line. Quinine can do it as well. Fascinating, don't you think?
It has permanent side effects that will haunt you for the rest of your life. My mom has horrible chronic dry eye because of this shit. Just wait your acne out. [editline]14th June 2011[/editline] Or use a safer alternative like doxycycline
Is accutane in it's experimental phase or something? When I took it I had to fill out this form where I had to check off a bunch of symptoms I might have had. And sign the bottom and all that.
I believe that's to help with statistical analysis - the wider the sample of people who experienced side-conditions is, the more they'll know about how common they are and which groups of people suffer them the most.
What the serious fuck, how can that be approved for use?
I have used accutane last year and my lips have suffered hell out of it :C therre was no way for me to smile normally without breaching them and they pretty much bleed all the time. BUT I have no more acne and it feel so good ! also if you ever take some lay low on game for a bit while I played game on this medication i used to rage a lot more, it was so bad that i did thing i'd never had done before like I break my mouse and had to take a lot of break from my game to be sure not to break my screen too :/ so yeah stay away from frustrating game
I think that this drug should be a last resort thing. I've heard that the side effects can be bad..
Acne goes away. Sit in the sun alot, drink lots of water and wash your face like three times a day. Works for me.
Sun exposure makes blemishes worse it's just that the tan hides them If you have painful acne on your face lots of sun will just make it more painful
Sorry but you're an idiot if you take pills to cure acne. Acne = skin level Pills = goes through your digestive system, through your circulatory system, and to your brain. You must have some ghetto third world doctor. I use Retin-A (the medium strength 0.025%) cream. Use it once before bed, wake up in the morning with flaky skin in the first few weeks of using, just wash up, and you're GTG.

I never understood how anyone can have more than a few zits unless you have terrible hygiene. So, there you go, OP. Clean up better, get a different kind of soap, something. Shower daily, wash your face before you go to sleep, place a fresh towel on your pillow every night and your acne will disappear in no time. Stay away from stressors and things that make you angry, that won't help acne. Also, don't touch your fucking face. I swear to God, don't do it. Your fingers are always greasy no matter how much you wash them.
I tried this before, the only side effects I had was dry lips and occasional nosebleeds. I still get some mild acne, but it's no where NEAR as bad as before.
