The Mysterious Man who Saved me from getting a Ticket.
Hello facepunch, due to the recent negativity around the forums (or from what I've seen, at least) I decided to lighten the mood and share a completely true story about a very nice man that saved me a lot of money and a ticket.
I recently took a trip to Washington with my girlfriend. Well, I'm from California, and as you Californian's know, speed limits don't mean anything to us. Well, they do mean a lot to the people and officers of Washington, which isn't necessarily a bad thing.
Anyways, I'm not used to much of this kind of driving being from Socal, but there were tall trees on both sides of the road, and it was about 7 o'clock at night. We were driving along and, not having much to compare my speed to, I went faster and faster without really noticing it. This happens in California all the time, but everyone drives over the speed limit here.
So, I did eventually glance down at the speedometer. I was going 65 in a 40mph zone, and I thought to myself, "I should slow down, but there's no cops and it's no big deal."
Well, just as I was thinking this, an oncoming car flashed his highbeams at me. I was thinking for a moment and decided to slow down to about 45. I watched my mirror and, sure enough, about a 1/4 mile or so later, there was a cop laying in wait, where you could only see him if you were oncoming.
This is for you, kind, kind driver. Thank you for saving me money and a mark on my record.
Rate this thread hearts. Not for me, but for this kind man.
Same thing happens to us on our motorcycles. One time we were flaying down the highway at about 85mph I think the speed limit was around 45 mabey 50. In the oncoming lane was a harley and we flashes his high beams at us and raises his hand in the air making circles with his hand. First thing that came to my head was the rotating lights on cop cars so we slowed it down to 50. Sure enough about a mile down the road was a cop. Motorcyclists around here warn each other because no one here drives the speed limit. Alot of the time you will see guys running 100+ on interstates.
that is pretty badass
hopefully someone will do that for me one day :unsmith:
