What a beautiful day! Hey, that cloud looks like a SCCCCCCCCCCCREEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE VRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRMMMMMMMMMMMM WHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOSH
Oh god imagine if they undershot the runway O.o
I was there when I went to St. Marteen on my cruise. Went Kayaking by there. No big planes were landing then, just small ones like DC Otters.

The 747 looks like it only missed a few heads and the (very low) fence by about two feet.
Jesus, they have to be pretty accurate in that landing.
I would love to visit there just for that experience.
Been there done that.
Those planes are the loudest thing i have EVER heard. They rip your ears apart. And they stink.
I wonder if anyone or anything has ever been hit by a plane landing...

Wow, just wow... I can jump and reach the plane!
It's so dangerous you need a special rating to fly there.
And to make matters worse, at the other end of the runway there are ~5000ft hills, so if your aircraft is having trouble climbing out, you best start panicking..
Not as dangerous as that airport in Nepal. Incredibly difficult to land, and if you land too late you go over the cliff edge.
:smug:
This is Princess Juliana airport in the Carribean, ICAO TNCM.
Impressively close to the people over there, I can imagine playing beach ball and a plane obliterating it as its punted into the air.
Wow! this would be incredible to watch an A380 land on/take off from.
That must be so awesome
Seems like a novelty that would get old very quickly.
Jesus, they have to be pretty accurate in that landing.
This ain't MS Flight Simulator bro (RIP).
Must visit this beach
Awesome beach, my life wish is to go there some day.
It's so dangerous you need a special rating to fly there.
You're correct, they have to be certified for water landings in the event of a short approach, and the planes that land/take off from here must be rated a certain thrust-to-weight ratio to ensure they can make the final at necessary speeds and takeoff in time to avoid the high grounds.
I'm wondering why they don't have the runway going parallel to the beach.
Planes take off with and against the wind to get airborne in the most efficient way. The temperature differential from the land to the ocean and the cold air running down off the mountains on the opposite end create an ideal condition for landing in that direction at much slower speeds than is normally feasible, and so while it looks like the plane would run into the mountains at the other end of the runway, they actually come in relatively slow and come to a full stop quicker than at normal airports.
Those are some big ass planes.
yeah that's probably not the best place for a beach
They'll be deaf in 3 weeks
Must visit beach and throw rocks at the turbines
yeah that's probably not the best place for a beach
or an airport
That's amazing. You never think about just how much force it takes to keep those things in the air.
Why Does

Make me think of
