Didn't she also buy shitloads of games that really had nothing to do with women in video games at all?
ignore the second half
This guy is an idiot, I don't even know what to say about it. People wanted to support Anita so they gave her money. What you want to see in videos has nothing to do with what she's offering to put out there. She started the kickstarter, and backers supported it so there's obviously a market and people that want to watch.
Alright but that's not the only point he made in the video dude, you need to chill.
Sorry for not including the part where he calls it "Fucking stupid" and the "... most pointless" kickstarter, and women not liking crappy characters for "asinine reasons" ugh i dont want to keep going

Whats wrong with pointing out the problem with paying people to make said videos?
the anime that pops up in the video really helps prove his point though
Sorry for not including the part where he calls it "Fucking stupid" and the "... most pointless" kickstarter, and women not liking crappy characters for "asinine reasons" ugh i dont want to keep going
Sounds like you only watched the first 2 mins
Sounds like you only watched the first 2 mins
Well it's already fundamentally wrong in the first 20 seconds, why should I watch the rest of it.
Well it's already fundamentally wrong in the first 20 seconds, why should I watch the rest of it.
How is being unbiased in a documentary fundamentally wrong? The entire point of a documentary is to document, not to shout your opinions at people.
Sounds like you only watched the first 2 mins
I watched it, it just shouldn't be taken seriously because it's made by a 16 year old misogynistic anime-loving brony 4chan user. The main point is that the reason women in games are crappy characters are because the developers are catering to the "core consumer" 15-25 male audience. Guess what? The average gamer is 37. Also, I'm certain that most 15-25 year olds would say they prefer good female characters rather than ones like Bayonetta or anyone in any fighting game, ever. the rest is just a giant faaaaaaaaaaart into the microphone as he shows us a bunch of offensive pictures and image macros.
had to post this at some point
I'm sick and tired of the backlash against Anita Sarkeesian being spun as nothing but a bunch of "angry misogynistic basement dwelling nerds". How about the fact that she never bothers to highlight the many good female characters in games? How about the fact that she never even plays the games she criticizes (go watch her Bayonetta video that she took down from her account). Or that she blocks comments or controls them, just so that she can control her image? Or that she publicly slandered Team ICO on Twitter, calling a classic title "shit" and "misogynist"?
I'd like you to know you're an awful person for completely derailing this thread on this awesome video and turning it into idiots complaining about Anita.

That number is also incorrect due to discrepancies in how the polls were done, the actual age is closer to 32. Either way publishers want games to appeal to people in their late teens to early 20s because those people have a lot of free time and disposable income, seeing as they generally still live with their parents. Also, nice job insulting the guy just because you disagree with what he said.
I'd like you to know you're an awful person for completely derailing this thread on this awesome video and turning it into idiots complaining about Anita.
You're not helping either dude, you bought right into it.
How is being unbiased in a documentary fundamentally wrong? The entire point of a documentary is to document, not to shout your opinions at people.
Being unbiased isn't fundamentally wrong, implying that the best documentaries have no bias is what is wrong. Some of the greatest documentaries have a bias which drives the creator to make it in the first place. It's extremely hard to make a documentary about the role of women characters in video games, or any media really, without being biased because you first have to assume that there is something wrong with their status in the first place. Just so long as that bias doesn't go too far, as Sarkeesian is wont to do occasionally, it's not really a problem for the overall documentary. Which, by the way, is made to shout your opinions at people. Michael Moore didn't do Bowling for Columbine because he wanted to show "both sides of the issue", he did it because he felt that the gun culture in the United States was an endemic societal problem. Great documentaries are great because you can learn something from them, whether it be cold hard facts or different perspectives. Too much bias clouds the objectiveness, but most documentaries wouldn't be made without atleast a little.
I literally Google'd "average age of gamer" and that wasn't an insult, it was an observation.
I fail to see how he is misogynistic and how being an anime-loving brony and 4chan user is a bad thing.
I'd like you to know you're an awful person for completely derailing this thread on this awesome video and turning it into idiots complaining about Anita.
It was never derailed. Anita was mentioned in the video to prove a point. The discussion is relevant.
I watched it, it just shouldn't be taken seriously because it's made by a 16 year old misogynistic anime-loving brony 4chan user.
Do you not see how hypocritical this is. You're a fan of Anita, I assume you've seen the Bayonetta video. If Pandering doesn't have anything of value to say in your opinion, that's fine. But if pandering doesn't have a right to complain, anita definitely doesn't have a right to complain about Bayonetta seeing as she only has a broad passing knowledge of it. Pandering and Anita both made broad, inflammatory, and angry rants on things they don't have full experience with. If one of them can't be taken seriously, then neither of them should.

Anyways, I don't see how you can agree with Sessler and then continue to try and find something wrong with Anita (maybe you have a problem that she's a women?????) She isn't perfect, but no one is. I can't stand anyone actively looking for something negative about a person because they disagree with them, and when you analyze a positive thing and try to turn it negative, I can only question your intentions. There are probably better ways to expose sexism in the video game industry, but who cares? Anita is doing it the way she is, and she got support for it. I have literally never heard of this second thing mentioned in the video (btw he says that Anita's videos are more pointless than this): http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/257527888/bronycon-the-documentary but it exists and is "wasting" twice as much money as anitas and I have never seen a single person complain about it, and literally no one likes a brony. It bothers me that people would give money for this, but at the same time you wouldn't see me ranting about it on the internet. Anita isn't a hypocrite because of the video, and I agree with it entirely. I think that it just states some false things as facts. Do you really blame her for not wanting to play a game that's literally porn for 16 year old misogynistic anime-loving brony 4chan users?
this is why no one is surprised when you disagree with anita fyi
Wait what? Are people supposed to be surprised when I disagree with Anita?
So much hypocrisy.
I don't get it, how is anything I replied to positive?????

If you're going to be mad about something you should have full comprehension of what it is. This is why we have islamophobia and racism. People are scared or angry at situations, beliefs, or people they have no understanding or interaction with.
I don't get it, how is anything I replied to positive?????
What? No here's the definition for hypocrisy. "Hypocrisy is the state of promoting or administering virtues, moral or religious beliefs, principles, etc., that one does not actually have or is also guilty of violating."
I can't stand anyone actively looking for something negative about a person because they disagree with them, and when you analyze a positive thing and try to turn it negative, I can only question your intentions.

I watched it, it just shouldn't be taken seriously because it's made by a 16 year old misogynistic anime-loving brony 4chan user.
You wrote negative findings about these people and you disagree with them. How are you any better? If someone disagrees, their intentions are questionable. That completely throws out the validity of any counter-arguement, essentially saying "I can't hear you you don't matter". It's alright to be upset. We all get upset. But further misconstruing your own beliefs by accident isn't the way to go about things.
People make mistakes, it's like when people call MaxOfS2D a bad mod and a hypocrite because he made fun of Americans or called some kid an Aspie.
Ya know I'm pretty sure part of the reason people use white knight as a blanket statement against people complaining about sexism is because of people who freak out over it.
That doesn't seem like a very mature thing to do. Then again, calling a documentary that made several times it's asking price in crowdsourcing "pointless" is also immature. In any case, I've been called worse things than a white knight by some internet teenagers so it's no biggie. I just find people who use the term unironically to be amusing, especially when done right after bitching about people insulting them.
Blanket statements are probably the dumbest thing to ever come out in these kind of arguments. Just because one side disagrees with another doesn't mean they're "white knights" or "misogynistic teenage basement dwellers"
