A pantyshot isn't oversexualizing
A few hundred years ago showing ankles was considered oversexualizing as well
Oh no an undergarment how degrading
Meanwhile Dante can run around half naked and no one cares
sexualization is entirely relative to the culture that defines it
if people look at ankles as a sexual object, they're a sexual object. if people look at panties as a sexual object, they're a sexual object.
oversexualization is just pushing past the boundaries of what people find passable, in the same way that extreme violence is pushing past the boundaries of what people find passable.
Oversexualizing != feminine
Batman's buff, rich, and successful
clearly perpetuating stereotypical male ideals
the point was that she redrew batman to fit her sexual ideals the same way most comic book artists draw women to fit their sexual ideals
not that that was even my point, but thanks

You'd be hard pressed to find a someone who would get outraged simply by seeing a picture of a feminine Batman
[editline]3rd December 2012[/editline]
It is entirely possible for one female "feminist" to claim that pantyshots are horrible and degrading, and another to go around running in her panties to fight the socially acceptable view for women
In any case I agree with the latter
How can people claim to "support feminism" when these so called "feminists" believe that wearing certain clothing is degrading to the entire gender? Or do they just feel that women are free to wear what they want and act how they want, but they should never be depicted in media in anything that can be viewed as "slutty"?

The same reason why most liberals are baffled by the existence of poor conservatives. Some people just can't figure out other people's point of view so they don't think about it.
Mind you I'm not saying you're a poor conservative. It's just an example.

Poor republican, you mean.
[editline]3rd December 2012[/editline]
being a poor conservative makes a lot of sense
[editline]3rd December 2012[/editline]
by makes sense, I don't mean that it's logical in any way, it really doesn't make real sense
I think the best way to avoid sexism is to just completely forget about the idea of sexism itself. That way males and females will be equal in this industry without that pity idea at the back of anyone's mind. Imagine in the future a female being recruited to a site simply because she is a female and the studio may not want to get accused of sexism. Now in a perfect world that wouldn't occur and women will be treated equally after this awareness campaign but I can't help but feel that you will get cases of a more awkward relationship between women and the industry if this continues.

getting rid of sexism; i'm pretty sure that was the point to this whole thing???

Yes and the awareness is effective but if it just escalates in to a guilt trip then you will definitely see cases of people treating them like a gifted minority. I say keep the awareness to a certain extent but not to where every male has to chop his nuts off to appease the female master race.

I'm sorry if my view isn't "Super Liberal Save the Gays Power to the People" but I know this is bound to occur unless we just keep a neutral view on the matter.
Yeah except keeping a neutral view has not worked in the past and will not work now, if we want change we need to take a stance.
I get his point, but if only things were so simple in life
Exactly, my idea is probably a pipedream but even striving to maintain it will help out.

yeah i'm sorry too
someone who says awareness of sexism could lead to "every male has to chop his nuts off to appease the female master race" isn't keeping a neutral view on the matter and no-one will take you seriously for saying that
look this is pretty simple. every worker regardless of gender should be treated with respect in the work place. Adam Sessler agrees. end of story, no need for weird castration fantasy posts
as for anita she states very clearly what her mindset and perspective for her videos are, if you have a problem with that i suggest you don't watch videos by someone called "feministfrequency"

you didn't have any idea, you just made a fart of a post
sorry to be harsh but you seem to have gross overestimations of your own ideas

I am a huge advocate in respect for women in the industry, I just said that It could lead to bias too if it went out of hand, that's all. You seem to be talking what I say waaay out of context.

ok when this supposed "bias" arrives you can point it out to me because i don't even know what that means or implies

when in history has advocating for the rights of a discriminated minority ever lead to a problem equal to their discrimination
what history are you basing this theorized problem on

I think he's focusing too much on radical crazy "feminists" like Anita, instead of the many measured well mannered ones who advocate equal rights instead of shitting on things like video games
the whole backlash against anita thing is probably the single most embarrassing incident in gaming history. it was genuinely horrifying to watch.
I think he's focusing too much on radical crazy "feminists" like Anita, instead of the many measured well mannered ones who advocate equal rights instead of shitting on things like video games
anita is about as radical as your average womens studies major
the only thing radical about her is how seriously she takes games as a medium and art form
the whole backlash against anita thing is probably the single most embarrassing incident in gaming history. it was genuinely horrifying to watch.
To be fair, she's a complete moron and fails to make any solid points, while contradicting herself all the damn time.
That being said, the reaction a lot people had was widely uncalled for.
To be fair, she's a complete moron and fails to make any solid points, while contradicting herself all the damn time.

The reaction isn't as important as the reason behind the reaction.
Game people can't take criticism for shit.
anita is about as radical as your average womens studies major

okay, maybe I'm mixing up radical feminists and graduates who don't know how to research thesis papers properly. Radical is a whole other ballfield. Would Anita fall more under the "poser" feminist? As in they just jump on it so they can feel special, rather than supporting the advocacy of women that face legit issues in places like the middle east or third world countries?
To be fair, she's a complete moron
how the fuck is that fair haha
to be actually fair, anita makes many mistakes and her critics are right in pointing it out, except the whole backlash wasn't based on constructive criticism seeing as she didn't actually make what everyone was hounding her about, it was just some knee-jerk anger about ??something??
To be fair, she's a complete moron and fails to make any solid points, while contradicting herself all the damn time.

i don't care what the fuck she did. the amount of pure hatred towards her for daring to insinuate that gaming has problems with gender equality (LIKE EVERYTHING FUCKING DOES) was so staggering as to be an embarrassment to the hobby at large. it really brought the creepy misogynists out of the woodwork and gave them some kind of weird voice for their shitty ideas
okay, maybe I'm mixing up radical feminists and graduates who don't know how to research thesis papers properly.
most graduates can't research thesis papers properly so this radical feminist group of yours must be huge
Would Anita fall more under the "poser" feminist? As in they just jump on it so they can feel special
i don't care
whatever personal reasons she has are her own, i don't even know her
neither do you wtf

i know exactly what the knee-jerk reaction was about. oversensitive gamers thought "gaming is very misogynist in a lot of regards" meant "everyone who plays games is a misogynist".

yeah but i'd like to know where all this bullshit comes from
how the fuck do people who play videogames all day suddenly become knowledgeable about radical feminism and gender discourse it's weird to me
