He never said US Navy Seals. The picture URL says Royal Thai Navy SEAL.
The Thai SEALs wear bike helmets?
The Thai SEALs wear bike helmets?
Kind of a common occurrence for military to use stuff like Pro-Tec if they're more worried about hitting their heads instead of being shot
He actually says Navy Seals
He actually says Navy Seals
Yeah, and 64k1 explained why.
He actually says Navy Seals
We've established they weren't American.
Makes you wonder what kind of "standards" the Thais have for their military. Their SEALs would probably be laughable. In other news, I almost want to get some AC - excuse me, UCP*. Had a few loadout ideas, though the dready and overused MultiCam might work for it as well.
Makes you wonder what kind of "standards" the Thais have for their military. Their SEALs would probably be laughable.
What are you basing that on? [editline]4th January 2011[/editline] If its the fact that they wear non-ballistic helmets, get out. Our SFOs do that too on occasion. [editline]4th January 2011[/editline]
Recruits go through training lasting 7 months, it is very similar to the U.S. this includes a 'hell week' where individual and team stamina and fitness are vigorously tested, only 30% of initial recruits are able to pass the final training. Compared to the US Navy's BUD/S program the Thai SEAL selection program seems incredibly brutal especially the Prisoner of War training
:frog:
What are you basing that on?
I don't think anyone looks to Asia as a source of good Special Forces units. There's a reason for that. Obviously, it's just an uninformed guess on my part, but they really don't strike me as being a likely candidate for a SF rolemodel. Nobody ever says "Thai SEALs are so uber." No, they say US Navy SEALs are uber, SAS is uber, Spetznaz is uber, ect.
If its the fact that they wear non-ballistic helmets, get out. Our SFOs do that too on occasion.
No, it isn't that, but it looks dumb.
:frog:
Just surviving brutality means nothing. If you don't have skill to back it up, you may just be lucky, determined, or just plain thick-headed, but if you can't think, shoot, or otherwise work with any sort of useful skill, you're not worth much to any team. Interesting fact: Green Berets go through a three-week selection (?) process, followed by one year of additional training. They're not even SEALs, who I dare say are probably a whole lot more elite than anything except maybe Delta. Sheer brutality doesn't make a good soldier. Just a slightly tougher meatbag in the field. The object is to gauge and, if necessary, improve the up-and-coming operator, not kill him if he isn't good enough. We're not Russians.
Not this again. Look, just because nobody says the Thai SEALs are l33t 0p3rat0rs doesn't mean they aren't. It's just that they aren't well known. And what you were saying about Asian countries having terrible special forces is completely wrong. Just look at South Korea's 707th Special Mission battalion. They're easily just as good as the SAS, Delta, US SEALs or the Spetsnaz and 12 year olds would be wanking over them being l33t 0p3rat0rs just as much as any of those other units if they end up being in Modern Warfare 3.

The 707th fucking does exercises in the snow and swim in freezing lakes half naked, don't tell me that isn't hardcore. [editline]4th January 2011[/editline] Dammit Timebomb broke my automerge
No, it isn't that, but it looks dumb.
It looks dumb? Seriously? You realise these people operate from boats and helicopters on a daily basis right? Not exactly safe to launch a boat from a pitching, rolling deck, and ballistics helmets aren't designed to protect you from a steel winch smacking you in the side of the head.
Just surviving brutality means nothing. If you don't have skill to back it up, you may just be lucky, determined, or just plain thick-headed, but if you can't think, shoot, or otherwise work with any sort of useful skill, you're not worth much to any team.
I'd say the number one most important thing for a special forces soldier IS surviving the most brutal PoW training possible, especially for SEALS. Special forces aren't rambo incarnate, they're just out there on their own taking much bigger risks and being asked to do much more dangerous jobs, that is why they are a respected elite amongst soldiers. I don't know why you seem to think that foreign soldiers can't think, shoot and be skillful? Maybe you should just keep your uninformed opinions and guesses to yourself in future?
What's next Jenkem, calling JTF2 and CSOR shit for being Canadian?
I don't know why you seem to think that foreign soldiers can't think, shoot and be skillful?
hah have you seen those russian dood in cod man they are so bad at aimning and shit i bet its the same irl lol
The world according to Jenkem: Special forces unit isn't in a well known video game: d00d thees guize suk
Im geussing the US SEALs they train with would probably say differently
I have no idea.
Yeah they train with US Navy SEALs and go through training very similar to to US Navy SEALS they must suck :frog:
You're putting a lot of emphasis on the surviving brutality thing and not enough on the other important factors. Also, "similar" means nothing in and of itself. Bootlegging generates similar-looking stuff, but the quality lacks considerably.
The 707th fucking does exercises in the snow and swim in freezing lakes half naked, don't tell me that isn't hardcore. [img_thumb]http://i49.tinypic.com/w7hjbd.jpg[/img_thumb]
They're smiling. Not a good warface. Obviously a clear sign of an inferior unit. How did we get onto SK, again?
yeah Jenkem lets see you take on one of these laughable guys
Depends on the rules of engagement. Can I use the 12 gauge? When it comes to 00 buck, SF soldier meat is still meat. They won't take a blast from a shotgun any better than that last petty burglar we got. This also has nothing to do with me or my own capabilities. I'll admit to you straight up that I'm not a very durable person, have no skills worth mentioning, and would be an all-around poor operator as it stands right now.
It looks dumb? Seriously? You realise these people operate from boats and helicopters on a daily basis right? Not exactly safe to launch a boat from a pitching, rolling deck, and ballistics helmets aren't designed to protect you from a steel winch smacking you in the side of the head.
Where did I say it wasn't useful? I just said wearing skateboarding helmets in a military situation looks dumb. Not impractical.
I'd say the number one most important thing for a special forces soldier IS surviving the most brutal PoW training possible, especially for SEALS. I don't know why you seem to think that foreign soldiers can't think, shoot and be skillful?
Again, you're taking what I said out of context. POW training is fine, but brutality isn't what makes a soldier. Anyone can endure brutality with the right conditioning, but being useful in a SEAL capacity goes far beyond how much of a beating you can take. Also, again, you completely misunderstand me. Foreigners can have good reasoning, marksmanship, and other skills. The point was that the description of Thai SEAL training felt lacking and put too much emphasis on sheer endurance and not enough on mission-critical skills.
Maybe you should just keep your uninformed opinions and guesses to yourself in future?
And maybe you can learn to read in the future? Why is it that nobody on the internet can even read my posts right.
What's next Jenkem, calling JTF2 and CSOR shit for being Canadian?
What are you getting at? I haven't seen a decent argument out of you yet. All you've done so far is just insult me.
The world according to Jenkem: Special forces unit isn't in a well known video game: d00d thees guize suk
Congratulations. You've officially proven you have no interest in even reading my posts and are just reply with random stuff you pulled out of your rear. Good work.
