Dunno about you, but I used a CA M15A4 Sportline when I firsted stared (funny, because for being CA, is worse than an LPEG). While I did have woodland BDUs, being a relatively good choice for the environments I played in, I used a nearly filled out plate carrier right from the start, not a crappy crossdraw. Rich/uber saving start FTW.
Why is M81 so noob, though? It looks good, it's cheap, and it's effective - nothing wrong with that. ACU is just such a terribad replacement, man, and if it weren't, everyone would use it instead.

Thanks.
It's a temporary fix for my speed/drag issue tomorrow. By the next game I attend, I'll have my new uber low profile plate carrier and the chest rig will be as good as extinct. At least it doesn't weigh 10 pounds like that other behemoth I wear...

A++ reply. Very useful, would read again.
The rest of the house isn't so bad. Since this room is basically the "guy" room (only my dad and I ever go in there), there's a reason old garbage piles up. Even I want to clean it now, though...
all of my rooms are the guy rooms apart from the kitchen
this is where the women of the family enjoy themselves

Well for one, the 100 percent cotton fabric for the HW version is weak and i must have 2 with a hole or two in them somewhere. And the EHWBDU isn't even treated with permathin for stateside last time i checked. You also have to sew your patches on, which costs more and is more complicated than just using hook backed patches. The pockets are useless with most plate carriers on, the button holes get too wide if you wash enough, the cuffs dont always fit you, the buttons rip off sometimes, and the list goes on. The ACU cut is well worth the change over to.
if you're talking about just the camo, then yeah maybe if you live in a woodland area, it's not a bad choice. UCP is meant for urban terrains, and if you spend some time in country , caked on dirt will give it a tan tint that makes it blend better for iraq for say. A lot of middle eastern countries use US patterns, UCP helps reduce any risks coming from that, even if it is more 'visible' . Multicam works great in Afghanistan, as does ucp.
In the end it depends where you are, they're all great patterns.

None of this has to do with anything, though.
I don't even use any patches on my MultiCam BDUs, and I'm more or less not a noob anymore.

UCP is terrible by itself. I don't think it looks bad, mind you, but it just isn't as useful. There's also not any MOUT fields around here, so urban = useless.
In the end it depends where you are, they're all great patterns.
I personally switched to MultiCam later, more for it's utility in this area than the added patch space, but now I run with a PMC kit (i.e. no BDUs) and am not any worse off.

Usually when people talk about woodland they're talking about bdu's, so i offered some points there. If it was just the pattern then yeah it has nothing to do with it.

the main idea is that, just because it doesn't apply to you doesn't mean it's terrible.

While you can easily point them out in most of these photos (which is possible with all camos , anything that close can easily be seen and I'm sure even you can agree on that).
http://img251.imageshack.us/img251/3976/92209588.jpg
these camos also are easily visible. An acu would be very visible if it was in one of these photos, and undoubtedly a DCU would be obvious in a woodland environment, a BDU would be obvious in a desert environment.. So yeah you could argue the acu is worse off in all environments, but that isn't the case. It works in some environments and does decently. The acu was put in to save costs and work towards one for all solution, which was leaned more towards more arid / rocky environments. And of course lets not forget another big reason why they picked it during the camo trials, which was urban track's performance under nvg. It was the best preforming, which is important anyone can argue.
However if it was my decision, I wouldn't of picked UCP. When they did the trials back in 2002 (?) desert all over brush preformed the best out of all the other camos iirc. They still chose urban track which placed last in all of the environment tests.. It helped they dropped the black, as you will rarely see pure black outside..
i don't think it was the best choice, it certainly wasn't the worst, but they made it and you live with it. The army is running new trials anyway with commercial patterns recently so at least change is on the horizon.
and the great thing is we are aisofters, we dont have to 'deal with it' , we can choose whatever fits our environment the best. Again, UCP isnt outstanding, but 'terribad' is a bit harsh for what it is, i really dont think it's that awful.

I'm playing on the North team, if you want to represent the South you can, or you can stick with me and my team. I'll print you out a map of the field to carry with you tomorrow so you don't get lost. I have a couple times. Lol.

I don't have a lot of it and the average person thinks "Oh some wal-mart bdu pattern and a cheap cross-draw-like vest."
I don't know where I sit, honestly. I usually run a clone CIRAS with OD fatigue pants and usually a polo shirt, shemagh, and hi-tops or boots.
I'm t4ct1c00l.
Pantac 6094, real LBT 3 mag insert, Pantac and Flyye pouches, various camo options (still waiting on multicam, but I'm picking it up before june for Operation Northern Light). Operator style.

Please.
When I was a chairsofter, I would always think of having a loadout almost exactly like that or your NBC loadout type deal, but I never really got that far because at the time there wasn't a field nearby, and when I finally found a field, summer was almost over and I had not much income.

This is why I'm putting some money aside while I'm in the chairsofter phase. Then once I'm able to get out of it I'll be able to make a Russian loadout with digital camo and MOLLE gear or something equally badass and expensive.

Will post pics of my 1980's U.S. Army Infantry loadout when my PASGT vest arrives and I get a full set of A.L.I.C.E. equipment. I also need an M16A2, my current rifle is a KWA SR10...
