FloaterTWO took me Airsofting back in feb. I'd never been before but I'd always wanted to try. His brother lent me his G3, I'm the guy on the Left. Any suggests for a new guy would be appreciated. I was wearing some of my old mans army gear, had his iraq bottoms and his army jumper under my jacket. The gloves were from the FP Paintballing and the African army vest was Floaters.
What is going on with the guy on the right? I would DIE wearing that much on my head/around my face. Your gear looks like typical newbie gear (not a bad thing, we all start somewhere), it should serve well for now. I'd get a gun if I were you.

That picture was at the start of the day, before i had to do any running around. First chance i got the balaclava went off because it was too hot. My tigerstripes are awesome but my shirt and pants don't match, and my shirt's too small. I need to buy a new, bigger shirt that actually matches my pants. And i need to get more pouches for my harness, since i only have one :saddowns:
I don't see why people wear gasmasks to airsoft. Sure they look "cool" but they look uncomfortable as hell. Although I don't wear anything on my face or on my head except for my brassguard, but that's just me.
I wouldn't want to be wearing a gasmask when someone hits it right in the lense
I wouldn't like to wear a gasmask either. I once or twice used some cheap masks designed for people painting or whatever, but is was just to cover my mouth with something stronger than my shemag while in CQB. Got tired of it though, just use the shemagh now. Wasn't somebody here who played in a full MOPP suit? Shit be crazy yo.

I've had to wear full face protection for all the games i've ever played (British airsofting law says you have to wear full face if you're under 18, i'll wear goggles as soon as i hit 18), so i'm used to having something covering my whole face.
I wouldn't want to be wearing a gasmask when someone hits it right in the lense
I wouldn't use it if the faceplate was glass, i bought it with just the idea of having it as a novelty item and something cool to own, then when i got it i realized that it'd be ideal for airsofting with. It's got a polycarbonate type outer faceplate part, similar to what the glasses people use for airsoft are made out of, then under that the main visor of the mask is just a rubbery see-through plastic, really flexible. I gave it a good testing by shooting it a lot to see if it's safe before deciding to use it.
Wasn't somebody here who played in a full MOPP suit? Shit be crazy yo.
Around Halloween a few years ago or maybe last year my brothers attended a game where most people came in costume, They went as Doc. Brown and Marty Mcfly. (guy in the labcoat is my oldest brother, guy in the orange vest is my other older brother) If anything like that happens again then i'm going to try to find a bright orange jumpsuit, rubber gloves and boots, and go as a hazmat guy :v:
Well, the thing is with testing it like that is that by hitting it, you're also weakening the lens, but I would wear shooting glasses underneathe if possible.
If it looks like it's weakening, then i'll start wearing glasses underneath. It didn't even have a mark on it after i'd shot it from close range a few times, and the rubber visor on the mask itself isn't likely to break or crack or anything, since it's soft and flexible.
Well, the thing is with testing it like that is that by hitting it, you're also weakening the lens, but I would wear shooting glasses underneathe if possible.
Hey at least if he gets shot in the face I'm the teams medic. Hoho! :chef:
Your oldest brother looks like a badass.
Holy shit Back to the Future loadout. Rated win for win.
I'd wear my ballistic rated S10 but it's for righties and I don't have an British loadout
Where did you get one in [del]Los Angeles[/del] California please don't say the internet

Uh, amazing. Completely missed the question of where he got it.
Uh, amazing. Completely missed the question of where he got it.
It wasn't in reply to you, but I'll quote in the post it was to save you being confused.
Oh, my bad then.
He has a filter for it but it's bulky as shit and gets in the way of his aiming as he's left handed.
The filter side is swappable like the M40, and tbh from wearing gasmasks around the house, the US canisters are waaaay less bulky than the Russian and NATO ones :eng101: As for the S10.. I got it via internets :smith:
I've got no idea how to swap filter sides, it only has the screw fitting on the left side, and i don't see any way of dismantling it to change the sides on it. I don't mind it with the filter as i'm able to use my gun in either hand, and i regularly switch hand. The only issue i have with it is aiming, as i can't shoulder anything and aim down the sights with the mask on. The inner visor may not be ballistic rated, but the outsert part that covers the visor and clips onto the mask is made from ballistic polycarbonate it's just as safe as wearing airsoft glasses.

You can get tinted ones but all the ones i can find are from Ebay sellers that don't ship outside the US :saddowns:
aka not safe at all
It's designed to protect the soft inner lens against flying debris and shrapnel, so i'm pretty sure it can protect against round BBs.
i was joking you said it was as safe as airsoft glasses
I made a pretty bad comparison actually since a lot of airsoft glasses are ridiculously shit
If it's polycarbonate it works but why, why don't they mass-produce for the M40 there's one for $160 (it's overpriced like hell) and it's green tinted... ... like HECU oh and the M50 is ballistic rated; my friend has one and I am rather envious
I'd love to get an M40, i've been trying to dress up as a HECU marine since i first played half life back when i was 9 or 10. If i can find a decent pair of dark goggles and a SPAS-12 then i'll probably try to make a HECU shotgunner loadout. Means i don't have to try to find a helmet and appropriate camo helmet cover, too. What vest would be most suitable for the HECU, anyway? I can't tell whether they're meant to have a vest or a harness of some kind.
An ALICE LBV over a PASGT/custom made flak vest
I think we discussed this before.. HECUs wear that weird PCV so my suggestion is to do the Black Mesa Source with the original HL loadout unless you make it yourself or use some other weird looking vest: [editline]15th March 2011[/editline] BMS one: [editline]15th March 2011[/editline] Good luck finding an urban combat shirt/pants though; that's why I say to make a hybrid
