I understand people who wear masks, and I myself wear a cheap gasmask to cover my mouth when in close quarters, asides from either a black cap or a shemag as a bandana to cover my head from the sun, but I never understood the point of wearing a helmet (unless you're very prone to falling down). They're really uncomfortable, I don't think they look as good as simpler heardgear and I don't really expect anyone getting shot in the head strongly enough to get hurt. Almost noone I've seen playing uses them, the few I know that use helmet are a team that use skater ones for a "Delta Force" look, and beginners that pretty much always ditch them and change into caps or bandanas or whatever next time they play.
I use a helmet for now but when I order my Type 07 BDU I'm going to get a boonie hat to go along with it.
I blew $550 last month just going to the city and eating out with my friends all the time. I need to cut back a bit so I can buy more airsoft shit.
I blew $550 last month just going to the city and eating out with my friends all the time. I've blown a lot of my money on airsoft this summer and last night I ended up going out with friends with $8 in my wallet. I still want to buy a SMERSH or Vityaz vest though. When I buy one I'm done buying airsoft stuff for a while.... except maybe sometimes...
This is going to turn into the helmet thing with Bluesaint again.
Big difference is the $150-250 price tag rather than the $500 that Bluesaint wanted to blow.

Meh real helmet ain't worth it. I prefer my MICH to my friends Marine issued helmet ( I can't remember the acronym). I mean my MICH and his issued helmet were nearly identical in weight, which was light, except my replica had a better chin strap and padding. Grant it, his helmet had this shock webbing on the inside to protect you from a gunshot, but it was uncomfortable and for an airsofter, not necessary. Save the money and just buy a replica. I mean if you somehow get into a real life situation where you need a helmet because someone's shooting at you, you're obviously doing something wrong.
Also, if you end up in that kind of situation, chances are, the dude won't be aiming for your helmet.
True. I guess I just like to collect military stuff.
Gosh I wish I had some sort of income.
if you have a pub local to you just go down and ask if you could have a job collecting glasses and if its one that serves food taking plates to and from the kitchen thats what i did its a shitty job but tbh theres fuck all left in the UK at the moment
Well I live in the countryside and I am underage. Result.
For a marine grunt, my friend (who is a Marine) says only those who've reached the rank of corporal are issued a M4. Everyone else lower than that is stuck with the M16A4. What sucks is they aren't even issued a sidearm, only officers have the M9 and maybe some higher ranks. He says clearing a building with a M16 sucks, I don't blame him.
I found grunts with M4's. Do I get a cookie? And look at this, a grunt with a CIRAS, look at the shoulders, the rear section: And the CIRAS: [editline]01:21AM[/editline]
I prefer my MICH to my friends Marine issued helmet
The LWH? Well it depends. Getting a current issue helmet is hard, so replica is easy. But, if you can find a cheaply priced one (I'm getting an LWH fully set-up for $100) then good for you. The difference between replica's is the padding and obviously the shell. The padding on replica's is just foam or some sort of cushion, the real deal helmets have something called Skydex pads. It's sort of like shock-absorbing, while the kevlar tries to slow down/stop the bullet, the pads will absorb the impact of the hit. Before padded helmets, most casulties were because of the helmet flipping on the persons head when hit. What I would say is, if you can get real deal stuff, great. Just sell it for a really large price and buy some more stuff with it, unless it's a rare find. An LWH, issue MARPAT helmet cover, OD cat eyes band, and the NVG bracket would probably cost around $500, I got it for $100. Then I could re-sell it for $500. But I won't cause it's a rare item. Get what I'm saying?
As for the grunts with the M4's, notice I said they had to reach a certain rank to get an M4. I'm not saying they're all stuck with the M16. As for the CIRAS, only special groups of the Marines get those, such as MEU or MARSOC. You average guy who enlists isn't going to get a CIRAS.
I was under the impression that most if not all Marines used M4's while most if not all Army soldiers used M16's
Its mainly mission based according to the guys I talk to. Many more people are getting issued M4s based on the fact that they are doing CQ fighting in houses and such. These guys are Army mind you.
I'm a Marine in a grunt battalion and our entire battalion is issued M4s
Now that's what I thought. I was pretty sure all Marines would use an M4, minus if they were a specialized role like a designated marksman, support, a sniper, etc.
I'm seriously considering building a 1st Recon/Generation Kill-esque loadout after building my Russian loadout. Of course, replacing the MOPP suit with a standard US Woodland BDU, for obvious reasons.
Everyone be dissin' the Woodland camo, at least where I live. Everyone wants to change to ACU, Flecktarn or Multicam as soon as possible. While I like Multicam and would immediatly change to flecktarn given the chance (both of those work perfectly in the dry woods where I mostly play) I really like the way Woodland looks and works. It's fine as camo, I think it looks cool and it's very easy and cheap to find since it's the regular uniform for the army here (in fact the suit I got is new, my dad is a Colonel and he got me a new camo suit and army boots, although it seems the army is at the moment changing it's official camo, I've seen grunts wearing ACU or MARPAT -never could tell the difference, it's all "pixelated XX" to me- and Airforce Commandos using multicam).

I guarantee you'll be happy in them. Promise. [editline]12:10PM[/editline] My list of loadouts I'd like to produce: Army Ranger, one from Black Hawk Down, the other from MW2 (I know, hate me for it.) Operation Desert Shield Marine uniform, which shouldn't be too hard. Generation Kill, 1st Recon loadout, which also isn't hard. I already have a 1st Recon patch anyway. PMC loadout, which I'm currently working on. And last, the Tier 1 Operator loadout from the new MoH.
USMC offers both M16 and M4's depending on the fighting style. Obviously alot of fighting is CQB right now so most units get M4's. But if the war got put back into the bland desert then they would go back to M16's.
If I could make any loadout I'd probably make a Finnish loadout. And then in winter change the loadout to this.
I need some winter camo.
Doesn't ACU work pretty well in snow?
It does but pure white would be a nice touch if it was cheap enough.
That german snow camo works amazingly in the winter.
That german snow camo works amazingly in the winter.
Agreed. The Ponchos work slightly better than the two pieces sets IMO. They are also slightly cheaper usually.

I'd rather build a Delta loadout over an Army Ranger, imo.
I've been wanting to do a Delta loadout for a while. http://zodtgr8.deviantart.com/art/quot-Black-Hawk-Down-quot-Loadouts-123506967
