so, if you were to quickly guess the prices of some of these, what would some numbers be? Quickly guess, as in not much thought put into them, I don't want to waste your time [img_thumb]http://img215.imageshack.us/img215/8603/32424196.png[/img_thumb] [img_thumb]http://hphotos-snc3.fbcdn.net/hs293.snc3/28299_1312590982617_1465940962_30763563_6171360_n.jpg[/img_thumb] [img_thumb]http://hphotos-snc3.fbcdn.net/hs554.snc3/30299_1322754036687_1465940962_30785624_3249743_n.jpg[/img_thumb] [img_thumb]http://i45.tinypic.com/2rxv0h1.jpg[/img_thumb] [img_thumb]http://sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-ash2/hs070.ash2/36880_1485182939124_1520407884_1231538_5973874_n.jpg[/img_thumb] [editline]12:06AM[/editline] But this really sounds like my kind of hobby, I am fascinated with the world's militaries and war history, and actually plan on joining the military in a year (well, I'm applying for the USAFA at least), and I [B]love to dress up[/B] (call me a fag haha) I do have expendable funds for these kinds of things, and would prefer to look nice, but don't really want to spend anything more than 1,500 dollars on all my gear.
$1500? you could get pretty decent things including a full uniform, vest, gun, and still have change left over for accessories
[QUOTE=Kill001;24870407]$1500? you could get pretty decent things including a full uniform, vest, gun, and still have change left over for accessories[/QUOTE] You could make a full modern Russian loadout with MOLLE gear with that kind of money. Using digital Flora too.
Well then, I may be posting a uniform in awhile. I assume it would be good to just visit a surplus store or two and buy shit there, or should I not do that and go with something more 'economical' or 'practical'?

So, let's see. The first one, the guy on the left, his loadout probably was about $350-$400~ if you know how to work your budget really well. That's me at the computer, my old loadout. That was pretty cheap, again ~$100 for the uniform, the vest was $50, pouches came out to another $50, replica PASGT was about $20, holster was $20, so a total of maybe $300~ My new loadout, the third picture, couldn't tell you, over a $500 for sure. Vietnam, hell, I don't even know WHERE he found those parts. And as for Metalman, it wasn't -that- much but the uniform again is a big drain because GORKA jackets go for $100, then the tiger stripe pants, the AK which was probably anywhere from $150-$400 (Don't know the brand) and the gasmask, $30, the backpacks and bags are beyond me.
Also I am a bit iffy on buying a uniform [I]right now[/I], given that I could possibly grow more in the next year, who knows. What happens if I get bigger or smaller, which, I am really skinny so this is a good possibility.

Check the sticky at the top of the forum, there's a bunch of websites you should definitely look at first.
[QUOTE=CodeMonkey3;24870511] Vietnam, hell, I don't even know WHERE he found those parts.[/QUOTE] I'm somewhat of a collector and you can find almost anything like that if you manage to look hard enough and have the funds, whether real or not. And in the business of buying and selling militaria like that, there are naturally a lot of fakes and reproductions, so it doesn't surprise me. I mean, at my local surplus store I've found tons of 'nam stuff, and I also have a ww2 m1 helmet as well as a vietnam era m1 helmet, both with original liners, and the vietnam helmet has a cover and band as well [editline]12:16AM[/editline] and ofc, they both have all helmet accessories such as nape strap and chinstrap. I love military helmets
You have an army navy store? Usually you can trade in old uniforms and get credit or whatever they offer. You can also try on uniforms sometimes, my place has a changing room. So I always buy loose or baggy uniforms and with a wet-belt you're solid. Most military uniforms come in three basic sizes made to fit most people since it's well, the military. Then you have beyond Small, Medium and Large, there is Medium-Regular, Small-Long, XL-Short and all kinds of splinter sizes. I just bought a MARPAT uniform, pants, jacket and bonnie for $100 just about.
I'm considering building a 'nam loadout if I end up buying Stupideye's M14, but I'll probably end up doing a 2003 Marine loadout, like something from GK.

If you get the wrong size online it's such a pain in the ass to return it. I like to try it on in five minutes and just get it then and there knowing it fits. [editline]08:19PM[/editline] [QUOTE=venom;24870604]I'm considering building a 'nam loadout if I end up buying Stupideye's M14, but I'll probably end up doing a 2003 Marine loadout, like something from GK.[/QUOTE] Vietnam loadouts are sexy but hard to pull off, like I said, I can't remember EVER seeing anything Nam-Era in a Surplus store or online. Then again I didn't look very hard.
lol, there's a military store near where I live and holy hell, they sell WWII~Vietnam bdus but most are used from those respective times and all of them are expensive and faded... not to mention the combat suspenders which don't even come with instructions I saw an rotted Arisaka rifle which was probably looted off a dead soldier
[QUOTE=johngol10;24756165]Niiiice... how do you like your MTV? :p Grip-Pod for teh win![/QUOTE] Its somewhat heavier than the OTV but it distributes the weight and fits better.
Do you think this would make a respectable uniform? [img_thumb]http://www.atthefront.com/us/packagedeals/images/paratrooperimpression/us_pkg_para_impression_main.jpg[/img_thumb] ww2 paratrooper, and it costs about 650 dollars for EVERYTHING, including * M-1C Paratrooper Helmet, Economy, reproduction (postwar shell) * Parachute First Aid Packet * M1942 Jump Uniform, (Jacket and Trouser, any stock size) * Jump Boots (any stock size) * Unit Patch, machine-embroidered * Rank Insignia, Pair * US trouser belt (reproduction) * M1923 Cartridge Belt or BAR Belt (reproduction) * M1936 or M1943 Suspenders (reproduction) * M1924 First Aid Pouch (reproduction) * Musette Bag (reproduction) * T-Handle Shovel w/cover (reproduction) * M1910 Canteen Cover (reproduction)
Cammies will go for about $20-40 depending on the pattern. Vest, also depends but I can think of a good looking setup off the top of my head that'd probably cost about $60. Prebuilt goes for even less. Gun, $150-400. It's a hobby, and as far as hobbies go I'm pretty sure airsoft is one of the cheaper ones, when compared to RC, motocross, etc.
also I don't know why any stuff would be faded unless someone felt like leaving it in the sun for awhile. Military artifacts, if stored correctly, look brand new. Or, should look brand new, rather
more on the pricy side but hawt :gizz: as for the faded crap, I swear one the satchels there had bloodstains on it
[QUOTE=Sir Tristan;24870656]Do you think this would make a respectable uniform? If you end up airsofting, there's a bunch of M1 Garand kits for M14's, which is more practical and economical than buying a Marushin M1 Garand.
it comes with a [I]goddamn shovel[/I] and I don't really mind if its that pricy, I've ALWAYS wanted to buy that uniform and now I actually have an excuse to. But this website has fucking everything ww2, german wehrmacht and SS uniforms, US infantry uniforms and marine corps uniforms
Do it. Looks badass and is badass.

Oh, by the way, my advice if you want to go CHEAP; Private Military Contractor. The Lazy Loadout, it's basically just a vest, weapon and a holster. [img]http://sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-snc4/hs289.snc4/40783_1391451514081_1465940962_30951446_178678_n.jpg[/img] Like so, I already had the rifle, I traded the vest for one of my old guns, I spent a total of about $14~ on it.
[QUOTE=Sir Tristan;24870678]also I don't know why any stuff would be faded unless someone felt like leaving it in the sun for awhile. Military artifacts, if stored correctly, look brand new. [editline]05:24PM[/editline] Don't even think of doing it with a post 40's gun.
[img_thumb]http://www.atthefront.com/german/packagedeals/images/heer/gpackage_impressionHeer.jpg[/img_thumb] now I just have to manage to make up my mind
Go American, as much as I appreciate German loadouts, no one in the general public likes them. At least with this uniform you could wear it to parties, parades, what have you.
ok paratrooper vs [img_thumb]http://www.atthefront.com/us/packagedeals/images/armyinfantrympression/us_pkg_infantry_impression_main.jpg[/img_thumb] vs [img_thumb]http://www.atthefront.com/us/packagedeals/images/usmcinfantryimpression/us_usmc_impression.jpg[/img_thumb] They all come with the same basic stuff, it's just that they are themed for that part of the military. The first one was paratrooper, the first one in this post is infantry, and the second one in this post is USMC
go to a game with a hitlerstache and SS Waffen loadout +10 respect points if you pull it off

[QUOTE=Kill001;24870815]go to a game with a hitlerstache and SS Waffen loadout +10 respect points if you pull it off[/QUOTE] I wouldn't want anyone to get pissed off at me but tbh I love the way the german stuff is made out of wool, wood and metal. No cotton or anything..., I don't know it just looks old fashioned or something. I love it. But I also love the other sets.
