M1 Carbines are still in use, but in very, very, very, very, very small numbers. Kinda like how there are still PPSH-41s still in use.
Actually, not even in particularly small numbers. Variants of the M1 are still in very widespread production and use, even by governmental agencies in the US (Border Patrol).
They're quite rare. Few companies actually produce them.
Therefore, they must be expensive.
:arghfist::mad:
You have any idea what the costs are for manufacturing such a small batch of them? No less the man hours, material costs, and machines needed to make them. It's not cheap. Hell just the block of metal to begin with will cost a few hundred dollars, especially if they went and CNC machined it.
Actually, I don't know; with all these companies that make MBK AEGs and wooden parts, I find it hard to believe that the reason you stated is why WWII weapons are so expensive

Making just a couple of molds to pour pot metal for a cheap chinese metal body in which they will sell many of is a hell of a lot cheaper than CNC machining just a couple of higher quality metal bodies and parts. The fact is even if they were to mass produce WWII guns in airsoft form there isn't much of a market for them. Honestly, how many AGM MP40's and MP44's have you seen on the field? They're cheap, and yet not many people buy them, simply because there isn't a very large market for them. Knowing that means they aren't going to spend a lot of money on initial costs to build the molds for a gun that probably won't sell many units.
Therefore they are made in small batches, which drastically increases the cost per unit. And if they want them to sell (mainly to collectors anyways) they're going to spend the time and effort to make a good replica, increasing the price even more.
Economics!

I got it from a guy in Finland on the AK Forum.

that helmet strikes me as very cheap
Its a Russian 6B7 Helmet, it didn't come with a suspension system so I had to install a Skydex one.

it looks like it's made of flimsy plastic.
either way, you aught to beat it up a little more so that it matches the vest
[editline]03:59AM[/editline]
err, i mean the color... so that the color would match the vest
i dunno v:v:v
Yeah, the green and the white don't match the vest.
That helmet reminds me of the ones you see 8 year old kids running around with on Halloween. O_O
Massive picture dump ahead. Process with caution.

Crop which one? You want it as an avatar?
The first one or the first gasmask one, crop it around the head so it's avatar sized if you please.
That aside, what does everyone think?
inb4: ACU SUX
Looks good, I've never had a problem with ACU.
Which gas mask is that you're using? Part of me is thinking of nixing my plans for a BSAA loadout and making one of the soldiers in the L4D Sacrifice comic.

Besides my dis-taste for ACU, looks pretty bad-ass.

Link to the comic?
It's an M17, although I think it may be an older version, either pre-desert storm or Vietnam because it lacks the nozzle for the drinking hose.

Sweet, thanks for the identification. Going to pick one up for possible load-out use. Might find use for me getting to and from class. Fucking smokers.
Thanks venom, this is badass.

I wouldn't wear a Gasmask around a College or University unless there is a reason too, since people get really jumpy about that stuff. There may be a rule against it too "Covering your face" and all, safety concern.
Could you specify what page you're referring too on the L4D comic, I want to make sure.
Page 40 on the comic.
Page 40 part one, I don't think that's an M17. It's got a filter, the M17 has internal filters in the cheeks. The one on that page has them hanging off the side. Exhaust port it too large too, the M17 has a narrow nose bridge.
[editline]07:03PM[/editline]
Yup, not an M17.
Bah. Got a bead on which mask it could be/based off of then?
Probably just one drawn up for artistic purposes.
[editline]07:08PM[/editline]
Speaking of comics. There's a cool mask in 28 Days Later: The Aftermath.
I use to have that comic, but I don't know where it is now.
Not so fast, I'm pretty sure it's an SAS Gasmask. I'm not positive the official name but it's pretty damn close.

SF10/S10, that's what that there is at least, didn't see the comic.
