timebomb i wanna airsoft with you, shit sounds awesome
I agree 100%. That's the way it should be. Now all you guys need is red woodland camo, trenchcoats, and gas masks and you're good to go.
I...I love you.
And hate you at the same time, because nobody here does that.
Spread the word, make some change broski. Roleplay is quickly dying off as paintballers and milsimers slowly take over the sport.
which si why u shuold move 2 tejis w/ me and we can do teh do
Let's all get together and make our own mega field.

I actually just got through with posting a long-winded roleplaying suggestion in my local forum's "game scenarios and tactics" section. No replies yet, and it's been up a whole day now. This doesn't bode well at all...
You may be happy to know that I edited the second half of the post with a quote from you. I referenced the post where you were talking about bribing people not to kill you. Good stuff.
You should post it here so I can propose it to my forum as well.
Perhaps I would do that as well
It was very. Very. Longwinded.
Also, the definition of roleplaying wasn't quite the same as Timebomb's, but I pointed out that even his way would be better than the same-old, same-old. What I suggested came out to be more of a freakish mini-op experience and is probably not worth even comparing to Timebomb's idea.
In game currency, a few NPCs, 2 teams and then a neutral force of good roleplayers, and a decent OP designer.
Instant awesome.

Heres a scenario we've run:
Objective:
Get the most money.
Setting:
a large field with a central town or village type area, preferably multiple builds and good cover. Village has two dedicated "banks" for either of the two teams, where teams can deposit money to be counted at the end of the game.
Teams
-2 main teams of agressors
-1 neutral NPC team that occupies the village as townsfolk, with unlimited ammo. Keep peace in village, attempt to quell any fighting or bank robberies.
-A few NPCs designed to be hired, all hanging out in a "Bar" (Sniper team, tank driver, fuel refinery owner, etc)
Gameplay elements:
-Limited ammo. Each player is given 400 rounds to start with. Has to get money to buy ammo from barkeeper.
-Enemy teams back can be robbed, but you have to get through the villagers. Can you fight them off? Or will you have to bribe them? Will the take the bride or kill you for trying? Are they even on your side? Are they in it for money or a genuine cause?
-NPC "relations": NPCs likely to be bigger dicks if you kill them or are unfriendly with them. Help them out to gain their support.
-Buyables: Sniper teams (assassinate enemy commanders, etc) Tanks/armor, fuel for armor, anti-tank equipment, more ammo. RL food and drink
-"Money" or something valuble to be converted to money (at barkeeper usually), scattered around field for teams to find and fight over.
The list goes on. With the right group of people, it gets awesomely hectic and very, very, VERY fun. Betrayals, teams shooting each other, bribery, corruption, all part of our little world :v:
Scenario
Oh...my...do want.
I assume "helping the villagers" involves them having a laundry list of ridiculous demands and other off-kilter stuff? For instance, grabbing muddy planks out of the nearby stream and escorting them back safely to said villagers while simultaneously trying not to let them go to the other teams who want them for firewood. Returning said wood earns you a shred of useful info/money/support/ect.
Stuff like that?

Pretty much exactly. Usually both main teams are combat oriented, so they might not want the wood for firewood, but to prevent the other team from getting buddy buddy with the villagers. A lot of the time the NPC villagers will be discussing something in a large group like "Damn we need food, I heard there was an airdrop a few minutes ago too" and then people from the 2 teams would overhear this and tell thier buddies to go look for and secure an airdrop. Suddenly, conflict.
Or it could mean giving them food, etc. I usually pack a 36 pack of those mini 100 calorie cheetos bags to win them over :v:
[editline]8th December 2010[/editline]
The roles can get pretty interesting too. One time, my team was plotting a bank robbery, and I was milling around in the village, discreetly radioing the positions of the villagers to my team so it would be easier to sneak around them, but one of the villagers caught me on the radio, and I got into an argument with him.
Eventually, guns were drawn, I shot someone, then I was shot in the leg, frisked, thrown in a jail cell for 5 minutes, then executed with my own sidearm on charges of espionage.
And it was awesome.
[editline]8th December 2010[/editline]
On the topic of executions, I found a video from that serenity valley OP, Im not in it, but it gives you an idea of how we operate:
http://www.wnyal.net/videos/serenity/DSCN4805.MOV'
Might take a while to load FYI
You were shot in the leg but weren't killed? Were hit rules different?
You were shot in the leg but weren't killed? Were hit rules different?
For the sake of the roleplay at the time, yeah. Normally I would have been dead by all accounts.
As a matter of fact, I did go down as if killed, but the guy asked me to fake a wound so we could put on a show.
[editline]8th December 2010[/editline]
Though we have tried the "points" rule before.
You get 10 points.
Hit in the head: 10 points
Hit in the chest: 8 points, must crawl on ground and can only use sidearms in your off-hand
Hit in arm: 5 points, cannot use hit arm
Hit in leg: 5 points, cannot use leg, must crawl, no hopping (for saftey reasons), can use primary weapons
I just prefer the one hit system though, lots less confusion.

Yeah we tried something similar to that at CQB City a year ago. Torso and head shots were instant kills, but leg and arm shots would just render them useless.
Unfortunately I was stupid enough to try out the Tanaka M700 AICS that night, which weighs 13-15 pounds. Someone shot me in the right arm, so I was stuck trying to lift this thing with my off hand. Couldn't aim at all, got lit up a few minutes later.
Just got my new condor chestrig, so i am posting my not so flashy loadout. :P

Would you mind if I C+P this to a local forum? That sounds freaking awesome.
Words
So...wait, this "town" you played in. Was it a scrap/prop city kind of thing? Or were you using real buildings?
Before someone kills me for not posting loadouts...I'm trying to get a hold of a new pouch for my plate carrier, hopefully today if I get an opportunity to go to the local shop (and, of course, assuming they're not out of stock). Should have some pictures of it/me in it when I add the pouch.
Or I'll just go to the next skirmish I can and get a picture taken of me there instead.

Go ahead.
There's an annual OP that's hosted here in Calgary that uses NPC's, a theme (post-apocalyptic ie Mad Max and STALKER) and in-game currency (along with like, five factions).
heres a copy pasta from the thread:

Bent Barrel for providing the Green Devil Bio BB's for the event!
Operation World Ender is this years end of year game. It will be based around the theme of a post apocalyptic world and those inhabiting it.
What?: JOC End of year game OP: World Ender
Where?: Warpaint Airsoft
When? : Sat Sept 18, 2010
Start? 11:00AM - 6:00PM (Full BBQ at the end of the day)
Cost? $50 PRE PAID ONLY
What is a Themesim?
A Themesim is an airsoft game not based on direct conflict military actions. It's more based on roleplay and acting rather then direct airsoft action. It is driven more on plot and story rather then airsoft action and objectives.
Whats involved in a Themesim?
This particular game is based on an end of the world scenario. There will be various factions fighting and controlling certain key resources on the field. These resources will be traded and bartered between all players involved. ie: Water faction will control all water.
What should I bring?
This years game we will be providing everything for you. Food, water, ammo. Bring yourself dressed appropriately, your gun and mags. No water/food/ammo will be required.
*All players are required to have a small satchel or handbag with you. You will store your food/water/Loose ammo in the bag as these items which are fully trade able may be taken this secondary bag will make it easier to take when the player may be dead* Players will not steal the bag outright but may ask for the contents of the bag should the player be dead, or even being robbed.
What should I wear?
Depending on your faction you sign up on will dictate your overall dress. However generally we are looking at a post apocalyptic outfit. When dressing for the part take inspiration from: "Mad Max", S.T.A.L.K.E.R. (Video Game) Terminator Salvation, Book of Eli, The Road, I am Legend, Escape from New York. Take a look at the inspiration thread for more ideas.
We are looking for you to dress the part appropriately to add to the immersion and fun factor for everyone involved. Please avoid showing up in a complete modern soldiers kit. A quick trip to Value village will easily net you clothes to tear/rip/wear to make yourself look the part.
Roleplay?
Being a new style of game we would encourage everyone to try roleplaying it up a little bit to get everyone in the mood. Perhaps instead of firing first when you encounter someone, see what they are up to and if they perhaps require a little bit of help (In exchange for supplies/caps maybe?) While most airsofters would shoot first and ask later, this style of play may not be beneficial for this game.
Primary Rules
All standard JOC rules are in effect
Initially most groups will be starting out with either only a pistol, or very few long guns/rifles. We expect everyone to try and follow these rules closely and respect your fellow player by following the limitations.
Further into the game you will have the opportunity to purchase more weapons/ammo as either you complete or fail certain tasks. These secondary weapons will be your own, and will be held safe and secure by the Game admins at the general store.
You can purchase these with the caps you earn
Hit Rules:
Standard JOC hit rules will apply. Bleedout time will be two minutes. Respawn time will be 5 minutes at the designated respawn points.
When bleeding on the ground however. Be aware that it's possible to have your items stolen from you. When asked to give up your items/food/water you must do so to the other player. Getting them back is up to you.....
**No player may take primary/secondary weapons, magazines** ONLY food/water/game items/loose ammo may be taken.
Current Faction/Player List:
Juice Pigs - Responsible for Fuel
The Wanderers - Individuals who are just trying to survive
The Enforcers - Heavily armed and armored - Last of the government and military (Closed faction)
The Scientists - Looking for a source of ultimate power
Bombard - Responsible for water
Stalkers - Specialized in gear and able to enter special zones
The Guru - Master of information
The Handler - Master of the mutants
Any questions, feel free to ask.
Unfortunately I didn't get to go last time. Hopefully getting a small group of my friends to go with me next time.
That scenario sounds like everything I've ever wanted to do but never could.
In other news, anyone notice this a minute ago in the list of people viewing the thread?

the full-seal goggle rule? not sure, it's just the rules the JOC (joint ops calgary~4/20) comittee came up with.
cool dawg. most places in canada land dont allow -18 to play at all, untill my badask team came round
heheh
one of my friends that i brought along on a skirmish was 15
the youngest we've had was a 12 year old i think.
just realized were on page -69- how radical is that.

Odd. Then again, FP is screwed up for me. I can't even see the post ratings, so maybe it's something on my end.
You don't think I wasted time erasing a tiny comma just to bloat my e-go, do you...? Well, you probably think I did, but I know I'm not THAT much of a fooligan™.

I would just bring my cousin if there was an age limit. He's 15, a year and some change younger than I am, and he's huge in every way imaginable. One time he went with an uncle of his to a casino (only watched) and nobody even questioned him...I want him to be my bodyguard.
