True, but who said the final value/cost would be 3 billion? Besides, we still don't know how much Valve has. We could just ask Gabe, but fat chance he'll tell us.
Even if VALVe did have the money, why would they buy a sunken ship? On top of that, they already have a borderline monopoly on digital distribution, if they bought out origin it would be a complete monopoly, and governments don't like monopolies.
~snip~ Did the math... 318.39 Million shares 318,390,000,000 x 11.91 = 3,811,128,300 So if 50% of the stocks are needed to own the company, they'd need $1,905,564,150 That sound about right?
uh no lol 318,390,000 x 11.91 = 3,792,024,900 use a calculator jeez
The employees at Valve are picked by Gabe personally to fit in their special culture (work at whatever you want, no one is anyone's boss,...). Even if they had the money, I'm pretty sure they wouldn't buy EA just because both work very differently.
Actually if I remember the VALVe handbook right they pick a few random employees to do the interviews
This appears in my related every single time I watch any of these Electronic Arts videos.
The difference is that this video implies that EA is getting away with what they're doing and making money regardless of their bullhickery. I understand stock market value is different from a company's financial okayness, but it does seem that their "nutshell" strategy isn't benefiting them in the long run.
SimCity: Black Mesa
You just made me think of a godlike game combination! Half life + Evil Genius = build, design and protect your own frigging Lambda Core!

Damn. https://www.google.com/finance?client=ob&q=NASDAQ:EA Just look at that dip in 2008. In just that dip their stocks plunged to a decade old level.
I'm half-expecting EA to get bought by some other (good I hope) company once their stocks drop to damn near nothing. If they keep doing what they are, it'll be only a matter of time. Personally I'd like to see Gearbox or Valve make the purchase, if it came to that. And return EA to it's former glory starting with this. They might as well be.
Compared to the rest? They might as well be.
Wow, EA is being so mean to me by making games I don't like and DLC I don't want. Oh no, they're trying to compete with Steam by having their own digital distribution system as well. How evil.

But SimCity looks good.
But SimCity looks good.
"no they removed the ability to make big cities and are FORCING ME to play online!! I blame GREED and CASUALS"
"no they removed the ability to make big cities and are FORCING ME to play online!!
EA sure fucked up with Old Republic, 200 million budget and it ends up being free to play less than a year after the release.
Some estimate it to be almost 500 million with marketing. If this is true then it amazes me that they could spend so much to make such a bad game.
DICE: We'll never charge for Battlefield maps until the next entry in our series where we charge $50 for them.

Steam and origin arent the only digital distrubution. Have you forgotten about GOG, greenman, gamersgate, desura, and the dozens im likely missing
Um. Steam and origin arent the only digital distrubution. Steam holds a pretty massive share in the market.
Wow, I had no idea RA2 came out after Sims
Wow, I had no idea RA2 came out after Sims
Huh, I always considered it far older, but no, the Sims came out a few months before it.
uhh, last I checked sequels are meant to outdo their predecessor so not being able to create large cities and having always on DRM should be blamed on greed and overall laziness
in the real world qequels are supposed to bring in more profit than the predecessor.
In every one of these threads people ignore what EA does right and I say it over and over SSX was one of the best and most fun games of the year but no one actually went out and got it, instead they went out and got Mass Effect 3 and battlefield 3 premium and then proceeded to complain about it instead of getting something that was actually worth your money. obviously consoles only tho

It's a game meant to be played on consoles in my opinion. [editline]29th October 2012[/editline] I mean you could plug in a controller but there always needs to be the keyboard option.
