EA sure fucked up with Old Republic, 200 million budget and it ends up being free to play less than a year after the release.
Even LEGO Universe did better than that, and they had less than a 30 million budget, AND the game ws originally set to be axed two months after release. Not to mention they held in-game competitions EVERY weekend, the prizes always amounted to more than $1,000, too. And shall I mention the fact that it even had an in-built system where you could build whatever the heck you wanted, and you had, like, 75 people working around the clock moderating them. Kinda funny, that. EDIT: I forgot, LEGO never allowed them to take any extra money from the company itself. LU was living off what it earned, not single cent came out after the 30 million development money.
They also got popcap, ugh I hope they turn plants vs zombies 2 into shit.
Maybe EA will eventually rebalance itself like karma. We may be getting a LOT of shitty games right now, but eventually we might get some innovation
Man, when he zoomed out into the galaxy... That was so amazing when I first saw it. Whatever happened to Will anyways? I loved that guy.
Knowing EA, probably in a unmarked grave in the middle of nowhere. No mercy is given for possible traitors and intellectuals.
Can't wait until EA start a IP firesale when shit hits the fan internally. Imagine a Road Rage or Ultima Online remake by some competent developers.
