The reason people get pissed about the religion bashing on facepunch is that it's really unneeded. Yeah, you've got the right to say whatever the fuck you want (well, no you don't, freedom of speech doesn't translate into the internet), but it doesn't mean you can just say "freedom of speech, bitches!" when people ask you to stop. They have the right to say that they're sick of people shitting on everything posted on Facepunch that's vaguely connected to religion.
People are sick of the religion bashing because the people that do it are mostly hypocrites. Maybe some other religious people where jackhats to you, that doesn't mean you can judge them all based off of what some did to you. Especially when the people that try to shit on everything not religious are the extreme vocal minority.
I seriously think people would be cool with you saying you don't like religion if you could do it in a way without being an asshole about it, which I've seen maybe three times on facepunch, but the rest is pretty much just harassment, which is not cool.

Most people who say they are part of Christianity, don't actually practice it. They just pick and choose their favorite parts and ignore the rest. There is a lot of diet regulations, clothing regulations, economics,etc. within Christianity which many people abandoned. Unlike Islam, it was not all organized within a single era based on a single person's recitations, but through several saints, apostles, and emperors. This is why many people say it is full of error. In a sense, REAL Christians need to inherit some parts of the Jewish tradition(Christianity began as a Jewish sect), which I do not see. Hell, a lot of Catholics don't even listen to the pope.

This is different from a lot of other religions, because they are very orthodox compared to Christianity.
Within the Muslim world, even the secular nations, many of the laws are influenced by the Sharia(not really in a negative way, and no disrespect to anyone reading this). Within the teachings of Islam, reading and inquiry is one of the Tawhids(sort of like a commandment, but not really). Muslims know more about their religion, due to both political and social circumstances(culture, too) than people of other faiths(I am not certain of this, but definitely Christians). Keep in mind that the Quran is the most memorized book in the world. Yes, the Bible is the most published, but a large number of people see it as reference rather than critical reading. And those who read it critically are usually opponents of it.
Therefore, I do not believe that Christianity is the largest religion in the world simply because most people who say they are Christians are not. Maybe Atheism, but oh wait...ATHEISM IS NOT A RELIGION. It i more of a conscious decision. And even if you say they preach it like one, a majority of atheists are apathetic(agnostic), or seem to have never taken religion into consideration. Too bad they don't have much of a voice compared to this New Atheism movement...but then again, they have nothing to say, because sometimes, "I don't know" can be the smartest answer anyone can give.
But hey, if you feel that I am wrong then alright. In that case, please refer to me as "Dr." I don't know the first thing about medicine, but I guess if I call myself a doctor and reenact episodes of "House" and "Scrubs," then I guess I am one...
