Don't expect us to wait for you to answer the door only to try and awkwardly converse with us as we try and continue on our jobs. Douchebag.
We have 300 more doors we need to knock on before 7 pm, lemme just sit here and wait to make sure you got your package.
What really bothers me is when you have a package that you need to be signed for but the person who ordered it, and knew it was coming that day and KNEW it needed to be signed for still can't seem to be there when I deliver it and somehow it's my fault. Or the people who work from their top floor apartments, and order boxes upon boxes of the heaviest shit possible and then laugh as they watch you lugging it up the stairs.
Oh man, it's even worse during peak season. Imagine having to move 500 individual packages in a day, and then when your done with that load you have to go meet up with another driver to take half his load because he apparently incapable of moving at a healthy pace.
*edit*
If you haven't figured it out yet, I work for UPS. God, I could type for hours.
you should make a UPS Q&A thread
One time, UPS got me my package in one day, even though I ordered standard delivery time. Was pretty awesome.
At least UPS is better then USPS
A word to the wise, next-day-air is pretty ASAP. When we have next-day-airs on our trucks they get top priority. They generally have to be off the truck by 2PM, so most drivers obviously don't want that deadline hanging over their heads and make a point of dropping off all next-day-airs first and foremost; even if it means breaking route.
UPS Stores are actually independently owned and operated by Mailboxes Etc., and UPS acquired them and slapped their name on the front.
I get a fair amount of UPS packages, our area driver is awesome (although we're normally the last port of call on his route). Always chirpy and if we're out he leaves it with a neighbour (or just behind the side gate). Parcelforce / DPD are also awesome.
Dear magical UPS man,
When will my RCA adapter arrive?
Sincerely,
Pvt. Banana
My local UPS delivery guy is always the same guy. So we're cool. Like one day I had ordered DJ Hero and he brings it up to the door and I was like "oh sweet it finally got here, this is awesome." and he was just like "yea it is :c00l:" in the most bro voice ever. Was awesome.
The UPS lady we have here is amazing. She brought in 500lbs of furniture boxes up two flights of stairs and across a 300 foot walkway. FedEx, on the other hand, often leaves our stuff at the garage, in the alley that's open to any passer-by.
When I was in New York, I had an Apartment on the 7th floor. My "neighbor" upstairs ordered a Computer. I heard the UPS man carry it up, then I heard him drop it, and it rolled down 8 stories.

then what happened
I always think that the job requirements for working as a UPS guy is to be tan, tall, and love short shorts!
My dad works part time loading and unloading the UPS planes at our airport.
Its not hard work for him. He just hates waking up at 3:30 AM. And then after he's done with that job, having to go to his full time job.
Do the deliverers ever know what's inside the packages? I hate getting CPUs delivered, it's way too risky in my neighborhood.
Well if they drop off a package off at our store and want it delievered it's mandatory that we ask them the contents. It's funny because like i stated eariler some people are just not that smart. Like we aren't allowed to ship motor oil or anything chemical or just you know shit that can't be swallowed without death. And i was processing the box and it was leaking so we asked him what was in it and he said it was oil.......so yeah we ask because of stupid shit like that.

Magical UPS Man.
UPS is fucking terrible and I refuse to ever give another cent to them
literally every fucking time I've ever paid for expidited shipping the package has gotten here a week late fastest, once it was two months late after I paid for overnight fuckdamn shipping
I got the computer I desperately needed for my birthday in december, my birthday is in september and I paid $48 for two-day shipping
fuck you and fuck ups
Oh also when we were RMAing my first 360 the UPS guy said I should get a PS3 instead :v:
do me a favor and stop dropping my packages from the roof of your building thanks

A+ customer service right there.

I would hope so, considering it's something like $30-$40 for express delivery and a few dollars for regular.
Now: question: How come it costs $30-$40 to ship something to Canada yet it still takes 3-8 weeks to deliver? It almost seems a better deal to take a boat to Port Angeles and pick up a package there.
In Denmark "ups" is the same as whoops. like "whoops i dropped something" kinda funny name for a company you trust in delivering stuff safely..
Where the fuck is my T-shirt OP?
please stop bending envelopes.
dvd cases could be inside them :argh:
UPS ftw.
Fedex literaly either always crushes my packages or throws them FROM THE SIDEWALK to my door if possible, that or they ALWAYS manage to break the contents.
Stop driving right past my house. *Website says "didn't answer door"*.
My delivery guy usually places the boxes against a wall and out of sight from street view so that's pretty cool of him/her.
And he actually rings the doorbell, although that sucks for those of you who have shitty delivery people.
I paid $50 for overnight shipping from you guys and it took 6 days. I even called asking if I could pick up the fucking package myself but they gave me some bullshit excuse about not being able to touch it or some shit.
What the fuck?
Fuck you guys.
UPS owns.
[editline]20th March 2011[/editline]
My guy puts the boxes out of view from the street, and he waits atleast one minute at the doors so he can hand it over personally before leaving it for us. Not to mention, he says if one of the cars are gone, and no one answers the door, then he'll take it back to the store for us to pick it up, just to be safe.
My mom ordered something in November and it didn't get here until March
So today i offically started working for a UPS store that is close by my house. I only work about 4-5 hours a day with every single sunday off. I get there about 9-9:30AM. This job i have to say is literally amazing. All day i help people either send items of different sizes and weight to where ever the hell they want to. Today we were sending a 50inch LCD tv to NY so I had to process the package measure the dimensions of the box and weigh it and of course make sure it was going to the correct place.
Back on track I also help sell the stores packing supplies, tubes, tape, glue, sticky notes.....Pretty much anything that does with shipping.
We do have a list of items we can't send which i find funny. We aren't allowed to ship items that are worth more then 49,999.99 OR human remains. Can't send illegal drugs, weapons, or alcohol.
it's over all a great place to work I recieve so many packages that end up all over the US. So makes me feel pretty cool to know that i made sure that package go to someone safely.
I'm happy that you feel your jobs great but let's all be honest here it sounds like shit pay and a job a hobo could do without any grades.
on a scale of 1-10 how much do you love logistics
