Immigrate to Sweden or Norway, if you really put aside being "american" its truly a win. The starting programs will make you live better than you ever could at this time in America.

Holy shit, if Minnesotas felony limit was $200 bucks I would have turned a lot of people into felons. Here however that's only a misdemeanor. $500 is gross and $1000 is a felony.

Here's a piece of advice that no one has mentioned. Please take it. DO NOT GET YOUR WIFE PREGNANT. Don't have a child. Use protection and make sure she is on the pill. Just dont get her pregnant man, dont do it...Make sure you are making money and are financially sound before that happens. Otherwise your already limited options will become significantly more limited.

(I use a condom, she's on the pill, I pull out, if she ever feels like she's pregnant we get the morning after pill) I think the most valued advice I've received so far is to find something and get good at it. Apparently, if I'm good enough at doing something, I'll succeed with it. I'm considering moving to Texas to find an apprenticeship. There are tons of jobs in that state. Regardless, I need education first. I'm trying to find a technical school in my area, and it's a real bitch. My area is dead. If you knew exactly where I lived you'd probably feel a 100X worse for me, because it's known for a few things: It is the Syphillis capital of the world, and it was home to the largest textile mill in the world, which closed quickly and left the city in a 10-20% loss of population. Seriously, the average income here is $17,500, I do believe. Edit: Yeah, looks like I was right. The median household income is 30,000 which is 31,000 less than Virginia's average. I think the best thing I can do after getting my education is move to a bigger city with much more options. Thank god my wife's parents live in Dallas and have contacts in Houston, San Antonio, and Phoenix. I'm sure I'll find work there with a degree.
Shoulda learned how to tattoos in prison.
thought you said pelon i was gonna be like cabron cut your hair and stop walking around with your pene out fuuuuck
Trade school definitely seems like a good start; whether it be HVAC, Carpentry etc. You'll really have to bust your ass to get hired, but it seems like you've got a pretty good grip on your priorities. Getting married so soon may not have been the best decision in my opinion.. but everyone is different and I am certainly not in your shoes. This may be of help to you. http://hvac-talk.com/vbb/showthread.php?977742-HVAC-JOB-FOR-A-FELON Good luck; if you succeed, you'll be an inspiration to others in similar positions. We all make mistakes, it's just that most of us were never caught.
Why the fuck do you live in New Jersey that is the worst place to live in my opinion.
You will never get your firearm rights restored. I'm sorry. Legally, yes, the provisions exist to restore firearm rights, but I recently learned from the local head of the ATF that there is a little caveat there. Congress hands down their budget every year with a tiny stipulation that zero funds are to be spent on restoring felon firearm rights. If a local office is doing it, they technically aren't supposed to be. Call your local ATF office, I'm sure they will be able to tell you. Unless you have serious legal knowledge or a terminal degree, you are unlikely to ever have your civil rights fully restored either. Your right to vote can be restored, but you have to apply and it is going to be a giant pain. Burger king, by the way is commonly the most likely company to hire felons in cities and counties.
Why the hell would they take away the right to vote? It seems so petty, what possible reasoning could they have behind it? If the goverment wanted to make up some dumb law that made 80% of americans felons like I don't know, cracking down hard on internet piracy or copyright violations, they could basically control who gets to vote. It seems like the very basics of democracy get undermined when the governing body has the ability to take away the right to vote. IMO you do the crime, you serve the time. When you get out you get a fresh start and that should be the end of it.
Felonies often preclude you from military service though, unless the military is really hurting for people. Even the marines aren't taking felons anymore, and they used to be taking anyone off the street that could do a pull-up.
That's a good thing that they are putting some thoughts before inducting anyone. Military used to be the haven for shitheads before.
