You could try more metal:
Judas Priest,
Saxon,
Iron Maiden,
Motörhead,
Megadeth,
Anthrax,...
(or like SilverHammer said check www.last.fm -it's the best way to find music you like !!!)
You remind me of me, except I like the blues.
Like someone said, Wolfmother is a pretty good band. The singer/guitarist sounds a bit like Robert Plant and Tony Iommi, so I like him.
Judas Priest is pretty good too, but the guitar work is pretty simple on songs like Breaking the Law and Living After Midnight.
Try doom metal because it pretty much carries on the Sabbath tradition.
Prog like King Crimson and Yes is some good stuff too.
Boston's okay as well.
Dire Straits are my favorite band, so you should check them out as well.
I'll probably think of more later.

And Rush. Can't forget Rush.
REALLY CHECK THESE 2 BANDS OUT
Parlor Mob
Rose Hill Drive
70's ish
Try checking out Iggy Pop & the Stooges.

Looking for guitarwork? Sultans of Swing by Dire Straits!
If you wanna look into "modern" (21st century) music I think you should check out bands like:
The White Stripes
The Raconteurs
The Black Keys
Modest Mouse

What? Not only are all those bands horrible, they are not guitar driven whatsoever. Read the OP next time
Opeth.
Just listen to this song, very Sabbath/70's influenced and has some awesome guitarwork.
I agree, but for some reason, I haven't been able to get into anything else. It's either too fast, or too heavy, or nothing appealing to my taste.

Forgot to mention, I'm not a fan of blues.
Are you retarded most of those bands are based off of blues.
What? Not only are all those bands horrible, they are not guitar driven whatsoever. Read the OP next time
I doubt you've listened to any good Black Keys. The White Stripes and The Keys are guitar driven. i hate ppl soo much.
Are you retarded most of those bands are based off of blues.
I mean, pure blues. Like SRV.
Maybe The Who, Slipknot, ACDC and Aerosmith.

I remember one video on youtube, this is a bit unrelated but you reminded me, "My Favourite Bands". It went through Deep Purple and stuff like that, and most comments were something along the lines of "Listen to Slipknot."
Indie Rock is where it's at. I know it's not the kind of stuff you described OP, but bands like Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Blonde Redhead, Fuck-Off Machete, Grandaddy and Love Is All, to me, are a refreshing reminder that rock music can be highly enjoyable and often fairly innovative / unconventional.
Yeah Yeah Yeahs

And if you're interested, watch them live, Karen O (the lead singer) is fucking psycho on stage, in a good way
Blonde Redhead

These guys make the most touching music ever.
Fuck-Off Machete

Another great band, a little less mainstream and their stuff is harder to find, even to buy.
Grandaddy

Great band from Sweden, a bit of an acquired taste however.
Some older bands like The Smiths, The Pixies, Joy Division and solo artists like Karen O, Kimya Dawson and SoKo are also worth listening to.
I could also recommend you countless electronic artists, because that's where my passion is, but I don't think you're interested in that stuff.
If you like any of the bands I mentioned and are having trouble finding their stuff just PM me and I'll be more than willing to lend a helping hand :D
Peace out.
If you're in to softer kind of folk-rock, I suggest Harry Chapin
because he's awesome

or, maybe harder folk-rock/blues/borderline country music, try Creedence Clearwater Revival

How are any of those bands innovative or unconventional :|?
How are any of those bands innovative or unconventional :|?
Perhaps they're not, as I'm not particularly a rock music elitist, but the bands I listed definitely do not have the same sound as top 40, punk rock bands of today. And that probably explains why the bands I listed don't appear on the top 40. But I do enjoy listening to their music thoroughly, and I thought they'd be suited to the OP, as he appears to be sick of listening to more mainstream bands.
What? Not only are all those bands horrible, they are not guitar driven whatsoever. Read the OP next time
Yeah because White Stripes have never made a song with one of the most famous guitar riffs ever right?
I've listened to my music far too much, and I've basically gotten bored of it all. I'm not into anything 80's really, due to the artificial sound, so my strongest like is stuff from the 70's, preferably guitar based. The bands I'm listening to now is basically Black Sabbath, Blue Oyster Cult, Deep Purple, Led Zeppelin, with the very occasional Doors and Pink Floyd, both latters in which I'm not the biggest fan of. I have to say the band I really enjoy most is Black Sabbath, so anything like that would be appreciated. I should probably note that I'm really one for guitar work, so yeah. Hit me away with what you've got to offer.
How Bout Some Van Halen
here's a link to some songs:
http://www.facepunch.com/showthread.php?t=777759
Eddie Van Halen has got to be one of the best guitarists that is still alive, just listen to Eruption.
Well, thanks a lot for your suggestions guys. I rather like Sleep, gonna download some of their stuff to start off with.
Velvet Revolver?
On second thought, Sleep is actually rather dull. The songs are far too similar, the only good thing is Dragonaut. Fuck, now I'm back at square 1.
Radiohead

Tried Candlemass?
Tried Candlemass?
Yeah, the problem with doom metal is that it's way too similar and simplistic. They're trying to replicate Sabbath, but they can't find the same simple yet complex riffs. God, my music taste is such a pain in the ass.
Solitude Aeturnus?
Maybe you should try something completely new, though.
I think I've pretty much just given up. I'll just have to gradually run into something by accident.
