True, but compared to the rear-engine beetle... I'd rather have 100hp in the rear to the rear wheels, than in the front to the front wheels. Actually, I'd rather have it in the front to the rear wheels. Personally, I just think the fact that it is an air cooled engine, with 100 horsepower, in the 60s... Is pretty amazing. It's too bad they only used the technology on one car, that could have really become something, maybe even slightly as popular as the Beetle in America.

Superbird? I thought this topic was 1969, not 1970.
Damn you, Bradley ¬¬ Ok, lemme redeem myself:
I loved when each of GM's branches had their own cars, instead of everyone having clones with different badges.
This car DESTROYED in Nascar, it was one of the main reason the 426 Hemi was banned from Nascar. I'm pretty sure it was the first car to reach 200 mph on the NASCAR circuit, today I think a 426 4 speed Daytona is worth around a upwards of 1mil.

Not even as much as the '70 Challenger R/T convertible with the same 426 Hemi/4 speed setup. Also, some AMC love: Rebel Ambassador Rambler American Fun fact: I almost bought one of these with a Dodge 318 and 4 speed in it once, but instead I settled on some other big V8 car, that was either when I got my '76 El Camino with the Laguna S3 nose or when I got my '84 black and gold Z28. Even though from a distance the entire G-body lineup looks the same, if you squint real hard.

Is there a reason none of you faggots have posted about the greatest American muscle car ever? Fucking Oldsmobile 442
I am the biggest Olds fan there is when it comes to my American loving side, but even I think the 442 was too little in an era of excess. It didn't stand out very much from the standard Cutlass, IMO. I'd prefer a regular ol' Cutlass myself, 442's are overrated, ~390hp out of a 455 big block? The Super Bee was getting nearly 350hp out of the 383 Magnum, and the 440 six pack did ~400hp with 15 less cubes. Granted, it was a mess of carbs, but I guess I'm just not that into the 442... Although, I once had a chance to get a '76 442. At the time I had a '76 Cutlass Supreme, and I wanted it really bad, and it was the only black and yellow one I've ever seen. It was just like this: Always liked the later look of Oldsmobiles, especially 73-77 and the G-body. Plus, you gotta love a Hurst Olds
I nearly forgot about this.
Well the 442 and the regular Cutlass are pretty much the same thing obvs. I just love them sorry :( However, a 1970 Buick GSX? I might kill someone for it.

Man, heavy shame on me, how could I forget this car, even when I have one sitting in my garage right now: [img]http://www.moparpowerclub.com/Thomas_Ms_1969_Superbee.JPG[/img] A 1969 Coronet Super Bee, most radical car to come out of 1969, right next to the daytona. Though mine is a 1968 R/T it looks just like the one in the picture except with a larger hood scoop, centerline front rims, and rear street drag radials.

Never even seen a car with t-tops in person..
Similar body, all G-body cars (Caprice, Cutlass, Eighty eight, Malibu, Monte Carlo, Regal/GN/GNX, El Camino, Grand Prix, Le Mans, Bonneville) were identical except for the shape of the body. Some even had similar bodies, IIRC some regals and Olds had the same doors/fenders. And you can take a windshield out of two similar G body cars and it'll fit both. El Camino doors will fit a two-door Malibu if you change the door glass. G-body GM is like LEGO, tons of pieces, they all fit together, and they're fun as hell. Not sure if it hurts to step on a G-body though.
Those cars make me want to drink Budweiser and smoke Marlboro's at the same time.
For the longest time, I really didn't like the G body platform but with this comment, I now look at these cars all differently. Thank you and now I must own one.
I'm on my third :smug: [t]http://atomic.uirpg.com/files/IMG_20110813_144006.jpg[/t] Previously I had a '79 Cutlass with a 350 Vortec swapped in it, and a '78 Monte Carlo original 305/two barrel floor shift auto car. What was the car that looked just like that, but the whole front hood and windshield was a door? You had to get in and out from the front. May have been 3 wheel drive, don't remember.
