So what your saying is kids that are dying should not be able to enjoy their last few months, or gain relief from painful chemo (fun fact, it feels like your bones are on fire), because starving children? You are basiclly saying that they should not be able to enjoy things because they are dying anyway and they should donate money to warords instead. [editline]17th December 2011[/editline] I'm making a mass debate thread

Well, some good thoughts there, but you're all entitled to your own opinions. Personally, I'm charitable and like to see the best in things. Thanks for showing interest at least, that's what this needs :)
I just had to transfer $10 into my Steam wallet to purchase a $9.99 game because I couldn't use a credit card directly. I DEMAND THE REST GO TO CHARITY!
I just had to transfer $10 into my Steam wallet to purchase a $9.99 game because I couldn't use a credit card directly. I DEMAND THE REST GO TO CHARITY!
I have a few friends with 5-10 cents in their Steam wallet from buying things that didn't add up to a full dollar amount. I'm sure there's a huge number of Steam wallets that will forever have a few cents in them, that'll never be used for anything. It doesn't cost anything for Valve to move money between Steam wallets (other than servers that they're already paying for regardless of internal transactions), so who would it hurt if there was an option to put everyone's spare change into one big fund to donate? Even if it's only a few hundred dollars, it would still be able to help someone instead of sitting around helping no one.
I'd rather people donated to oxfam or red cross or something as well, but even if you're giving your money to a dumb video game charity you're better than 80% of people out there.

As said, there could be a pre-approved list and it can go into a separate fund or directly to who you choose. I don't know if Oxfam or Red Cross have online donations available though.
Slightly unrelated note, Oxfam and Médicans sans frontieres are my fav charity organizations.
The poor kids in africa might die without the charity. The kids bored on chemo are bored. Uhh.
Those kids were always dying, it's like some sort of natural selection. There should be a charity that wouldn't help children directly, but instead they'd get money on building hospitals in those countries, hiring doctors from first world countries and helping those hospitals financially or something like that.
The poor kids in africa might die without the charity. The kids bored on chemo are bored. Uhh.
There are huge charities dedicated to starving children in Africa. There is one tiny one that gives kids who might die a bit of fun. If you make the "it isn't the most important thing so it isn't important at all" argument you are gigantic moron.

Why the fuck are people dictating how you donate your money? "Want to do good? Well fuck you unless it is donated to the organizations of my choice."
Fuck charities, they're all corrupt. If you really want to help, go teach where kids don't have proper education, be a doctor where they are needed, etc. Or, you can be a dumbass and give $50 to charity, and $20 actually goes towards the cause. [editline]19th December 2011[/editline]
There are huge charities dedicated to starving children in Africa.
No shit man, world hunger would be solved if these huge charities didn't purposely starve children.
Can imagine a Child's play advert: £100 can give a dying child an Xbox, a further £40 can give them something to play for a few hours. Whereas £150 could go to vaccination for diseases in third world countries. You can get a vaccine for like £5...
Whereas £150 could go to vaccination for diseases in third world countries. Charities are 9/10 times complete bullcrap. The rich billionares donate millions to these charities, and the starving african kids don't get a dime of it. Where does it go? Okay, occasionally you'll hear about an african village getting a water pump or something, but that's ONE VILLAGE. Millions of dollars in cash go towards a few water pumps and some pencils for starving african kids. Pathetic. And don't get me started on the cancer research ones either, cause that's another cash grab. If I ever become rich, I am not donating a cent to big charities, instead I will organise food, shelter and education for the unfortunates, probably go to Africa personally and get houses, schools and farms built with the cash.
