The film will have location shooting in Beijing and Shanghai, it will narrates that the daughter of Tony Stark's friend was kidnapped and brought to China, in order to save his friend’s daughter, he flew over from America to China to seek help from Andy Lau's character to strengthen his abilities to fight The Mandarin. You will see Iron Man fly over The Great Wall of China, National Palace Museum & other landmarks in Shanghai.

Although veteran actor Ben Kinglsey's role has yet to be disclosed, the report lists The Mandarin. Suggesting why the villain won't be of Chinese descent, a la his source material, the reports explains:
In order not to hurt the feelings of Western and Chinese audience, the story will not focus so much on the villain’s background as not to display the Chinese as evil. [The production] had already got approval from the State Administration of Radio Film and Television in order to be shot, all contents that harms Chinese image had been “removed”, this explains why the villain will be a bit different from the original comic
according to the radio today (that played Black Sabbath's Iron Man), casting is done for this movie.

Really? People still think that a Chinese villain makes me think that all Chinese are evil?
China is very sensitive about that and since they only allow 20 foreign films per year, we have to do everything to appease them
Looking forward to this, Iron Man's always been awesome.

Gee i wonder who the villian is.

I hope this whole "China will sponsor your movie as long as China controls your movie" doesn't become a new thing.
Looper already has a Chinese actor and clips of a new Chinese technology in the movie.
I can't really comment on this yet, but changing the character just so it won't offend the 'Chinese image' is something I don't want to see in movies a lot.
Agreed, but don't forget that the pentagon basically does the same thing. Michael Bay got a LOT of hardware for the Transformers movies by glorifying our military a lot.
I preferred the first movie over the second one but I enjoyed both of them anyway.
I really didn't enjoy the second movie at all. Loved the first one though.
The issue with the second movie in my opinion is that it didn't know where to go. It's clear that it was supposed to emphasize on the bad consequences of the suit, but sometimes it's doing it very seriously, sometimes it's doing it in a completely goofy way. It's hard to take the mental breakdown of Tony Stark seriously when said breakdown consists in eating donuts and doing stupid shit at parties.

Bear in mind Iron Man 3 is a Chinese-American film. Both have equal footing in the film. You're not gonna watch Iron Man 3 and every other character is drastically overweight.
Isn't Wolverine going to Japan too? Asia is the new Zombie.

You've hit it on the head.
I couldn't tell if we should be laughing at Tony Stark or feeling sorry for him. When Tony Stark is standing there in Iron Man armour throwing a frankly boring looking party, drunk and then beating up War Machine in a terribly slow and clumsy fight to some god-awful Queen remix. You can't really get a grip on what's going on. It was like they were trying to be funny then remembered they had to tell a story so forced some funny round it and then decided "actually let's just make it funny". Iron Man 2 was schizophrenia if schizophrenia was a movie.
And that end 'fight'. Basically Iron Man flying around to avoid a fight then some blink-and-you-miss-it fight with the terribly underdeveloped Whiplash. Whiplash who is never named as Whiplash. Whiplash who one minute is a bit dim and barley grasps basic human behavior and communication and the next is a menacing genius engineer, then a twat in a suit. Hammer was barley worth his salt. Glad he was arrested and not killed though. That and the "It's amazing how annoying a little prick can be" line were the best things gunning for that movie.
Iron Man 1 and Avengers handled Iron Man much better. If it wasn't for them I wouldn't care for IM3 much at all.
Speaking of that, did anyone call Tony a prick in The Avengers? After the first two movies did it I was expecting it to be a recurring theme with Tony.
It was implied.
Loki called Black Widow a cunt.
Joss said he was proud of that and more proud so few people notice.

[sp]"Mewling Quim" is slang for "whining cunt"[/sp]

Well, both characters have history inolving asia, mostly wolverine, with iron man its mostly two of his big villians Mandarin and Crimson Dynamo (he's from russia)
Wolverines backstory has like, 10 years of him being in japan or something.
I really wish it wasn't Don Cheadle as War Machine. I really like him, but he was much worse than Terrence Howard.
Also, it looks like there's way too many characters, something that was a big problem for me in Iron Man 2

I honestly followed the breakdown pretty easily in Iron Man 2. He basically takes on a "fuck it all" mindset, letting the little filter he had left go.
I preferred don cheadle to terrence howard in all honesty, but I preferred iron man 1 to the sequel. It's a tossup.
They can do a lot with Don Cheadle because his personality suits much more as a counterweight to Stark's in my opinion. Maybe its just because I'm a fan of Don Cheadle

I followed it. I just couldn't emote to it and it became boring as sin.

It felt downright stupid when he was in his Iron Man armor while drunk at his birthday.
Agreed, but don't forget that the pentagon basically does the same thing. Michael Bay got a LOT of hardware for the Transformers movies by glorifying our military a lot.
I guess you're right, but there is a slight change in context. In Transformers they worked with the military to defeat the Deceptacons (Or however you spell it). It was relevant to the plot.
In here we'll see Iron Man making China look all nice. When really, Iron Man was created to destroy weapons and maintain peace. While China at the moment is one of the highest suppliers of nuclear weapons and military arms.
It's so contradictory of his character to be glorifying them.

People handle breakdowns differently. Some might go into full depression, some will just feel devoid of any purpose, others might remove all brakes (Tony did the two latter ones).

Yeah but it went on for too long, got too silly and then he just snapped out of it instantly. There was no fall for Tony Stark, his friends just got a little pissed off and he blew his house up. Then he got doughnuts and felt great.
As alcoholism and depression is such a main part of Iron Man's character I'm surprised it was used mostly as a way to score laughs then dropped in a heart beat.
In the Avenger's it seemed like he was still getting over it, he was pretty tame compared to the first two movies

Yeah, the problem with IM2 wasn't that there was nothing at stake, but the way it was handled.
And yes, I like Don Cheadle better than Terrence Howard, I just think the latter did a better job than Don.

He was as much of an asshat as he was in IM1. Worse. [sp]He kept trying to hulk out Banner for his own amusement. Challenged Cap to a fight. Duelled it out with Thor without even think about it. Even virus attacked Shield[/sp]

I dunno, [sp]I don't think he was trying to actually make Banner turn into the Hulk, his suit was on the other side of the hellicarrier, and it's not as if Stark is suicidal or anything. My guess is that he was either genuinely intrigued about how Banner was keeping the Hulk under control, or wanted to make the others think about how dangerous it was, keeping Banner in a pressurised metal container flying through the air. Rogers was equally as responsible as Stark for the tension between them. The Thor thing... Yeah, he wasn't really thinking about it, but that's mainly because he knew if they lost Loki then they lost the cube, and he had to make a snap decision. As for the virus, he did that because he was suspicious about Shield, same as the Captain, who was basically just doing a more IRL version of what Stark's virus was doing (poking around in restricted areas). I think he was more just acting like an ass because that's what the people around him expected from him, but was actually being more mature than he had been in previous films. At the end, he shows that he's matured when he guides the missile into the Portal, knowing full well that it could be suicide.[/sp]
