Just one question [sp]Having never read the comics, did they totally rape the Mandarin? I loved how it all played out, but it seems like they took a famous villain and made him a joke.[/sp]
[sp]I felt a little twinge. Mandarin is an iconic Iron Man villain, but I like how they turned him into this method of criticizing the idea of the war on terror. He's more of an image, a face, than the actual mastermind. I did complain a little, but Ben Kingsley's excellent performance did make up for it.[/sp]
Fantastic film, I never get bored of watching Tony Stark suit up. Also, who noticed [sp]speedtest.net[/sp]?
The only thing I feel lacked in this movie was [sp]The lack of any gadgetry with the suits aside from the dis-assembly/re-assembly and the repulsor technology on his arms/chest RT. Aside from those there weren't any missiles or anything[/sp]
Holy fuck that [sp]mandarin guy only being an actor was a little bit of a plot twist :v and jesus was he funny.[/sp]
Anyway, great fucking movie. I wasnt that much into going to see this movie, but wow, it was just..great
Can someone explain what happened after the credits. I wanted to stick around, but we had to leg it because we were going to miss the free entry deadmark to a club.
Anyway, great movie. Probably the 3rd best Marvel movie behind Avengers and Iron Man 1. There was a bunch of humor as well, which was quick refreshing.

No. [sp]The Mandarin was Killian. That's the point of the scene where he screams "I AM THE MANDARIN". He was running around topless with Chinese tattoos on his chest and shooting lasers and doing crazy power like stuff.
Without a doubt he'll return in a future film as The Mandarin. He was essentially this with short hair http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/thumb/d/dd/Mandrin1.jpg/250px-Mandrin1.jpg[/sp]
Two more Chinese actors

The film will have location shooting in Beijing and Shanghai, it will narrates that the daughter of Tony Stark's friend was kidnapped and brought to China, in order to save his friend’s daughter, he flew over from America to China to seek help from Andy Lau's character to strengthen his abilities to fight The Mandarin. You will see Iron Man fly over The Great Wall of China, National Palace Museum & other landmarks in Shanghai.

Although veteran actor Ben Kinglsey's role has yet to be disclosed, the report lists The Mandarin. Suggesting why the villain won't be of Chinese descent, a la his source material, the reports explains:
In order not to hurt the feelings of Western and Chinese audience, the story will not focus so much on the villain’s background as not to display the Chinese as evil. [The production] had already got approval from the State Administration of Radio Film and Television in order to be shot, all contents that harms Chinese image had been “removed”, this explains why the villain will be a bit different from the original comic
What happened to the Chinese production and the filming done in China?
And these actors.
Going back and reading the thread is really funny
everyone dumbed a guy who said that Iron Patriot was just going to be Rhodes with a paint job.

China gets a different cut of the movie
China gets a different cut of the movie
Really?
Watched this the day before yesterday. Really liked it and got some sick nerdchills when [sp]all the suits came flying down to wreak havoc.[/sp]
China gets a different cut of the movie
The fuck? Why not just keep it in both versions?
Unless it's just an alternate version of the entire section of the film spent with that kid?
Tony Stark lands in China instead of Tennessee and must use the amazing grace of Chinese hardware stores to get back
Also, we should kinda stop with the spoiler tags. The movie is out. If you don't want to be spoiled, don't check this thread. Of course there are going to be spoilers.
I didn't like how the suits felt vastly inferior to how the suits were portrayed in the previous films.

They got completely raped on the boat.
got completely destroyed all the time.
also, what was killian's goal? money? power?

came out of the theatre tonight thinking this, what exactly was his motivation? also was he using the Mandarin's terror attacks to disguise his failed Extremis subjects exploding?
To be fair, I'm pretty sure that most of the terror attacks were real (Well, real as they can be when the Mandarin's just a scapegoat) and not just Extremis failures
Killian's goal was to show the American Government that they could be easily destroyed by their enemies, and to sort of "remake" the world with Extremis to help the US to combat the growing threat of "The Mandarin"
that was not clear at all.
Oh, well forgive me, I just picked that up from tvtropes
Kinda makes sense though
i meant it wasn't clear when watching the movie.
If RDJ isn't going to return for an Iron Man 4, maybe they should start doing 2 hero movies to the original avengers?
Like hulk + iron man in one movie. Maybe just cameos. That way if he does return as Iron man in the following avenger movies, we atleast have updates on where he is at.

I didnt think they were, just that they were up against a way tougher enemy
[sp]Also stark got shelved with literally the biggest piece of shit suit for the entire film until the end[/sp]
Going to watch it later today, but sadly I get the feeling that the whole "Tom Clancy-like technological political thriller" got fucked and they went for the usual.
Please tell me there is a lot of technology porn.
There is some great technology porn, but there is also a large potion of tony by himself with very little help from technology. Kind of like an extended version of him in the terrorist cave. He has to use his brain rather than his giant mechanical suits.
I really want to watch this but there isn't a single 2D screening anywhere and I don't want to ruin such a potentially great film by being distracted by eye pain and tons of glasses in my face. Did Marvel announce anything related to that? Are they forcing cinemas to only show it 3D somehow? Because the cinemas that don't have 3D equipment aren't showing it at all.

Most showings are 3D here too but some are 2D, thank god.
god that movie was awesome
the [sp] start hitting the mandarins manor with make shift weaponry [/sp] and the [sp] army of suits arriving [/sp] were by far the best parts for me
felt a little silly at the end, when [sp] tony got his arc reactor thingo removed (sorry guys my memories a little faulty), I mean, wasn't that the one thing that stopped him from being possessed in the avengers? [/sp]
I saw it in 2D
So did I but I regret it as apparently the 3D was mighty impressive.
I've never been that impressed by 3D. It's just looks 2D to me.
There was some study showing some British people couldn't see 3D so maybe that's why? Backgrounds are blurry. People are clear. And occaisonally an object looks like it's floating outside of the film which brings me out of the whole experience and it blurs away again.
[sp] Movie was great but I wasn't a fan of how each of the super cool suits that fly in at the end get about 7 seconds of screen time each, some of those were really interesting suits and then they just get dismissed and exploded, kind of a bummer if you wanted to see more of the brand new designs
[/sp]
