i enjoyed it but there were some things abkut it that were incredibly stupid my major complaint is [sp]that he just up and got rid of the shrapnel at the end. he jumped through hoops to make a new fucking element because his electromagnet was failing him in part 2. so if it was so easy to just remove the shrapnel why didnt he just do that in the first place? you cant just write away a major part of a character, especially one that has generated many of his major personal conflicts. it was a shitty thing to do for a "feel good" character development i dont mind the suits being shitty because he made them all under severe stress and they werent up to par because of that, it was pretty clearly outlined in the beginning and all his good suits got destroyed. i just feel the ending was horribly handled and makes no sense[/sp] [editline]9th May 2013[/editline] also i hate how this started development as a new direction for iron man and we just got more of the same not saying that its a bad thing but i was really looking forward to the switch of pace
He probably thought [sp]that considering its so close to his heart, it would be too dangerous. Or he didnt trust anyone to actually do it.[/sp] It also happened in the comics too. [editline]11th May 2013[/editline] Also, [sp]The element isnt actually new, he "rediscovered" it, but it was the same element as Captain America's shield, apparently, Vibranium.[/sp]
[sp]I thought Tony only removed the shrapnel because he had acess to the Extremis technology, so in case anything went wrong he could use it to regenerate himself.[/sp]

Let's just call it "Starkium" because Howard discovered it and Tony re-created it
Isn't it what the Tesseract is made of? Let's just call it "Starkium" because Howard discovered it and Tony re-created it
No. The Tesseract is like, some mystical cosmic Galactus jizz shit. [sp]Vibranium[/sp] is a metal that soaks up energy like a sponge.
I thought it was just a frictionless material.
I thought it was just a frictionless material.
Well considering what friction is im pretty sure its frictionless too.
It's actually called "Badassinum". Tony named it that in the Avengers tie-in comic where we see that the Leader was shot in the leg by Black Widow.
Well, this film is awesome. I really liked it. It had more humoric stuff in it that in general action film, and [sp] the fact that Mandarin is just an actor is a ridiculous idea. I liked it, but I was 100% sure that the actor is actually the terrorist, but is pretending to be an actor.[/sp]

Did people miss the dialogue towards the end of the film where Guy Ritchies character screams[sp]"I AM THE MANDARIN" as energy sparks from his hands and the world burns around him?[/sp] I thought it was a striking image, this was a modern reinvention of a classic villain. It's just they used the [sp]sterotype image of The Mandarin to throw people. Which people should have seen coming. These days how often does a comic book villain look anything like his movie counterpart?[/sp]
Guy Pearce, not Ritchie.
These days how often does a comic book villain look anything like his movie counterpart?[
Sandman. Red Skull. (judging from concept art) Winter Soldier Thanos. The Destroyer Armor. Emma Frost. Joker. Two Face. Silver Surfer. Venom. Jigsaw. Doctor Doom. Zzzaxx.

I thought it was a neat twist that wasn't as bad as everybody makes it out to be and left it open [sp]for a Mandarin return in the future. He was basically immortal[/sp]

He was basically immortal[/sp]
[sp]Aldritch Killian survived, but was so badly injured in the fight that he has to have reconstructive surgery which alters his appearance to that of a Chinese man. Also, his powers were confined to his fingers. Iron M4n, coming Summer 2016.[/sp]

All the brutality leading up to his reveal is found to be mostly fake. The Real Mandarin reveal just felt a bit...underwhelming.[/sp]
I didn't mind [sp]Trevor[/sp], but I personally know people who felt the movie was totally ruined by it and I can kinda understand why.
Does that mean [sp]Trevor shot that guy?[/sp]
wait why didn't [sp]that one "homeland security" lady's scar tissue not heal after being exposed to extremis[/sp]
May have been a birth defect/part of her template.
Does that mean [sp]Trevor shot that guy?[/sp]
No. He admitted it was fake.
May have been a birth defect/part of her template.
afaik she is a character from the comics
afaik she is a character from the comics
Of course she is! Whole movie is based on them! :v:
http://marvel-movies.wikia.com/wiki/Ellen_Brandt in the comics she is a character married to the man-thing, whatever that is
http://marvel-movies.wikia.com/wiki/Ellen_Brandt in the comics she is a character married to the man-thing, whatever that is
basically a monster that is the swamp also this is ellen brandt in the comics [editline]17th May 2013[/editline] apparently her face got like this after her husband became the manthing and he burned her face with acid or some such
ah. naturally they made her hot for the movie. still weird how extremis didn't fix her scarring.
Since watching Iron Man 3 and thinking about it, I've come to the conclusion it wasn't that great. It was fun to watch with an audience and on the big screen but I'm in no rush to see it again. It felt like parody at times, I couldn't really take the panic attack seriously. It felt more like it was trying really hard to be a comedy. Iron Man 1/Avengers had funny elements but 2&3 are really trying too hard.

holy shit that last 30 minutes or so or was it 45? geeze, the entire movie was awesome.
Very good movie. The after-credits scene was pretty fun. [sp]Why can't you see more of Igor though, for fucks sake, this armor is AMAZING also he's built like 37 armors in his insomnias, counting mk-42, right ? They better make a game with ALL FORTY-TWO ARMORS IN IT.[/sp] [editline]19th May 2013[/editline]
The movie had a different director and it really felt like it. And Tonys character was having a makeover, explained because of events in Avengers. So he had a near death incident and now has PTSD? He didn't have this when he was nearly killed in the first movie.
[sp]I thought that's because being thrown into an other dimension via a giant portal would likely fuck your brains up pretty bad. It would even make a lot of sense that while in that other mindfuck dimension he got so irradiated with ungodly energies that it made him even more of a genius and he just can't stop building shit[/sp]
[sp]At first I was disapointed but the whole Mandarin thing, but I like it now. Actually. It was clearly a pun at TDKR's Bane/Talia's plot twist. Well played Shane Black, well played. [/sp]
[sp]so does pepper get badass moments in the comic too? i mean i get that she's pretty much the only one keeping tony from becoming a destructive wreck, but her bit at the end of IM3 was fantastic.[/sp]
