I HATE THE THINGS YOU LIKE AND FUCK YOU IF YOU AGREE
I HATE THE THINGS YOU LIKE AND FUCK YOU IF YOU AGREE
The fuck are you talking about? I literally just said I don't care if you liked it, more power to you. I don't. You do. Big fucking deal. I came in to ask a single question, and because I had to clarify that I didn't like Avengers or Iron Man 2 to get the answer I wanted, you guys had to go and be like "STOP BEING SO EDGY YOU FUCK HOW DARE YOU SAY YOU HATED AVENGERS". Who can't accept other people's opinions now? Me? Christ, god forbid I ask a damn question. You people are strung the fuck up.
Or you're just being defensive because I hate a movie you like, and I came here because I'm being dragged to see this in approximately 47 minutes and was curious if I should be remotely excited. The whole movie was boring to me, I legit started nodding off at the end. I generally find Whedon to be straight up hit or miss. Excuse me if I don't feel like writing a whole review. If I had come here to wave how much I hated avengers in your face, I would, but I couldn't give two shits if you disagree. Seriously, feel free to like whatever garbage you do. Hell I liked SWTOR.
Typical "being dragged to see this" guy. lol, move along, it just wants attention

AKA, to him, the avengers had "Hardly any action" he also believed his diabetes is gone and he is fine now because it "Went into remission" and that the LAPD should be executed because of how they are terrible people and should be ashamed of themselves. if you look too into shit yeah it'll look bad. But "Boring" seems impossible with these movies, "Dull" ok I guess thats fair. I loved it though, and it deserves its respect.
Even then, im confused as to why he would've considered a movie like that boring.
it sounds ridiculous to me but if its just not liking super hero movies then yeah I can understand but not 100% of everyone is going to like a movie, even if its as amazing as the avengers. Or if a comedian is as funny as Louis CK. I thought all the old Zatoichi movies were amazing despite the lack of real storyline and bad effects, black and white, and how cheap and old they were. Most people would look at me weird because of it.
Why are you even continuing talking about him if he doesn't even care Just let him watch it and see what he thinks for himself, who gives a shit that he has a different opinion about a movie than you. Don't take it so personally.
...How? What constitutes as "not boring" to you?
You really want me to do this? YOU REALLY want to to fully explain to you guys why I don't like the Avengers when I all I came here to do was ask if I will enjoy Iron Man 3? How hypocritical can you people get? I came in here asking if I'd like Iron Man 3 because I didn't like two of the previous movies in the same "series" or whatever you want to call it. Then you people gave me tons of shit for not liking Avengers saying I was being stupidly edgy and bashing other people for their opinions, when all that happened was you assholes bashed me for mine. But what-fucking-ever, let me spell this shit out for you: I thought it was boring as hell. No, not because there wasn't enough action. Superhero movies. I have a love/hate relationship with them. Sometimes they're great- other times I couldn't care less about them. You see it all depends on the movie's focus. Superheroes have become a boring concept. During the golden age of the super hero, people were AMAZED by all of their incredible powers, abilities, morals, but nowadays its all thing we've seen before. And so the superhero movie, the good ones at least, have shifted focus away from the hero, and towards the "secret identity" or "the person behind the mask". The internal conflicts of the superhero, the struggles that cause him to become a superhero, the difficulties the superhero faces with this new way of life he chose for himself, these are all a lot more interesting than "The hero saves the day and punches the bad guys in the dick" I loved the first Iron Man for this reason. It was an origins story. Almost the whole movie was him becoming The Iron Man. You saw him gain his motivation, he went through iterations of building his suit, his relationships were strained- you saw his struggles and his gradual growth from a cocky asshole weapons-building warmonger to becoming a cocky asshole force for good. Then the end of the movie shows up, and it just becomes "IRON MAN FIGHTS THE BIG ROBOT GUY" and I got bored. A big CGI fight scene is no where near as interesting as the character story that came before it. I felt Iron Man 2 suffered from the problem that he essentially ANNOUNCED he was Iron Man in the ending of the first film. Its not as interesting to me when everyone knows who he actually is (this may be personal preference of course, but no shit you're reading a synopsis of my personal preference on superhero movies what the fuck did you expect dumbass). Now onto the Avengers. This didn't have any of that. The character story underneath the hero is what makes it interesting to me. To see how Stark became Iron man, to see how this changed his life. In the Avengers. all of the characters are just... Heroes. They're not people. At least they sure as hell didn't feel like it. It didn't have the interesting character plot underneath the hero plot to keep it going. It just felt like a lot of superheros being angsty towards each other. Like I was watching some weird sitcom-drama show with all of the characters dressed and acting like heroes from the marvel universe, yet they didn't really acknowledge it. All of the characters just acted like Heroes all of the time, not people, even when it would have been HUGELY beneficial for the movie if they did. You didn't get any idea about how the people under the masks felt, just how the masks felt. Another thing a good superhero movie can fall back on is a great villain. I'll admit, I didn't care much for the villain himself in Iron Man 1, though it wasn't so much the villain that made it work, but his motivations, and the fact that he was at one point Stark's friend. The Dark Knight managed to pull of a great villain, even though his motivations were blurry. That was part of his character. You can't tell what the Joker's motivations are IN A GOOD WAY, that's what makes him a menace. Loki... I didn't get a feel for him. He just felt like a boring ass villain. Now this may be because I didn't care for Thor (the movie, and I guess by extension the character). To me, Thor was bland because he started off as a God already. We already established I like character driven story underneath the superhero story, but his character IS a superhero, its boring to me. Loki felt the same way. He didn't feel like a character, he felt like a supervillain. And his plot pretty much boiled down to "TAEK OVR DA WURL". Sure it may have embellished a bit on that, but it sure as hell didn't make it any more interesting to me. And then at the end the whole thing boils down to a big blockbuster action scene against Space Aliens- just like how the first Iron Man got boring as shit at its ending. And I guess that's what the movie felt like to me. A big blockbuster superhero movie... Not much soul in it. So yeah. I didn't like the Avengers and there's my reasoning. It was boring to me, not because of a lack of action, because it was boring to me. Now go ahead and act like this is some personal attack on your opinion like you did last time. That'd be great. [editline]27th May 2013[/editline] Also, saw Iron Man 3, it was eh, probably better than 2 I guess, but close. [editline]27th May 2013[/editline]
but lets not be douchebags and exaggerate and make the marvel fanbase look like a bunch of fucking children, k? even if Skywards opinion is wrong. He asked a question. Don't be a faggot.
Heh
That was a good post and you explained your opinion really well. I definitely understand what you mean about the saturation of Superhero media and how a lot of them cheaply focus on 'holy shit this guy can do super stuff' and nothing beyond that. I think it's more bad/mediocre writing in general rather than the actual flaws with the superhero concept. It's been happening ever since the birth of comics. I understand how a lot of the marvel movies action sequences felt rushed and disjointed. Sometimes I thought they had it just because you had to have a big action scene in a Superhero movie. Avengers was mostly built around the hype and excitement of seeing all these heroes on the same screen together and if big action scenes with superheroes alone isn't your cup of tea, it's understandable of how boring it can get despite the countless well choreographed action set pieces. IMO, action set pieces only work great if there was substantial build up to it and it is relevant to the plot, theme and character development throughout the movie. I don't know what suits that quota for you but it can be pretty tricky to get it perfect. Thor can be done right and he can be interesting but I admit that a lot of things could have been done better in his movie regarding how his character was presented. I hope it hasn't turned you further away from superhero movies and it would be interesting to hear your opinion on other superhero works in the future.
He's right though, Avengers was the typical action movie with no brains, just that now they added famous superheroes. Avengers was fun mindless entertainment for 2 hours and surely was better than what I expected (which wasn't much), but if you think it was a good movie, you really need to go watch some actually good ones.
i miss the "who would win" discussion we were having that was fun

Surely was better than most summer blockbusters though, and at least it didn't force some shitty message (Avatar comes to mind) trying to make itself more than a mindless action movie.

It's just a fun popcorn entertaining superhero action movie. Nothing nor less. I do remember people praising it as the greatest superhero movie of all time when it came out all over my facebook page. It was fun yeah, it was a good cinematic experience if you followed all the hype but the movie, on its own, isn't a shining example of great quality film making.
I know this is the Iron Man 3 thread, but I hope no one minds if I put in my two cents in the current (or previous) conversation. The reason I find Avengers a good movie, or a really good movie, is the writing. It took a pretty damn difficult idea, that is, putting six (four if you don't count Hawkeye and Black Widow) big characters together and get something massively cohesive out of it. X-Men so far hasn't really been able to do it in their franchise, the movies focused on Wolverine with the rest of the team acting as support. (I use them as an example because I'm unaware of any other big super hero team movies.) Funny enough, X-Men also suffer having a cluster-fuck of characters all around doing nothing in particular for the plot. Avengers avoided both of those writing wise and gave each character a fair share of the spotlight and their own developed motivations for why they were there. They all even stayed in character. The drama and angst, though you may disagree, worked as well as it did because the characters were being themselves. That's hard enough to write without having to do it with already well established characters. So yeah, Avengers probably shouldn't rank up really high with movies like the Godfather, but it still did something pretty damn difficult and pulled it off extremely well, all things considered.
Avengers was just a solidly crafted movie that you go see for 2 hours and eat popcorn and wow with the audience but there's nothing much to it it's shallow - if you accept that, and can roll with it, its still enjoyable I dont get why you guys are being dicks to skyward his opinion is pretty much correct - if he's the sort of guy who's not into the type of movie that avengers is, he is not going to enjoy it and that is not a crime
im pretty sure hulk can beat anyone i dont know of his weaknesses from the movie but if i recall hulks power in the comic even matched supermans
I don't think Hulk from the movies had any particular weakness but he could be hurt and 'dehulked' or killed with a sufficient amount firepower/damage. I think if Thor played it smart and used his Mjolnir hammer right, he could take out the Hulk.
I simply just don't agree with these negative opinions about Avengers. The action is what makes it interesting, especially since the negative reactions towards Iron Man 2 were primarily because there was next to no action. But that's just my opinion [editline]27th May 2013[/editline] Just saying, there's a reason these so called "boring action movies" gross shittons of money and have gargantuan fanbases
Who would win: Aunt May from Spider-Man, or Aquaman? [editline]27th May 2013[/editline] Assuming they're on land, of course

I don't really care for people opinions on the internet but you were being just as childish and argumentative as the people that dismissed your opinion. You didn't want to discuss, people who discuss typically don't use the word "fucking" repeatedly, bold text, and capitals. You were spoiling for a fight. That said, a select few here overreacted.
