I half agree and half disagree with Dan's comments at the end.
It would've definitely attracted a wider audience if it were a female model/athlete doing the dives and belly flops, but it was much more hilarious that it was a "pasty fat dude" instead.
I don't know what it is about the episodes, but it's just not very interesting, or at least not as interesting as the regular stuff. It's a show about Gav and Dan doing stuff that happens to be filmed in slow mo, rather than a show about slow mo footage of cool stuff.

honestly im more interested in that crazy ass rig they showed off in the first trailer that spins a phantom around explosions and shit quickly. i hope they have a whole week dedicated to that.

I agree, I liked the first few eps of this but now it's just really short clips of boring stuff where as their usual stuff is interesting, bizarre looking shit
That just looks like an expensive but fun carnival attraction that would somehow be heavily rigged against you.

The impression I'm getting is they probably didn't have much of a say in what they were actually doing in the show. They didn't even know the props they were shooting the rubber band ball at were full of paint.
