I just had a dream this morning, apparently, was on a bus with my dad. (Not sure if indicating the bus meaning his business van), but it was full of people. And some chinese guy that looked like he was in the mafia type business came on with a gun, my dad got up to sort the situation out, but got shot.
:tinfoil: IMMA SCARED.
This actually.
Was my previous non-parody story. Just a dream, but still in a sense part of psychology with spirits, anything in between.
Some time ago (I think it was 5 or 6 years ago) me and some friends got to spend the night at my friend's mom's work for his birthday, she works at a DHS office. We stayed in the basement of the building where we set up our games and sleeping stuff. We were just hanging out at first and later on we decided to go exploring around the place. There was stories about the place being haunted and that was the reason why we wanted to stay there because my friends birthday was pretty close to Halloween. This is when I first had some experience with something I can't explain.
We sat around talking and eating for the first part of his party until it got dark. We then went to walk around the first level of the building which was the basement. It had most of the offices where everyone worked in cubicles. We were not allowed to touch anything or his mom would get in trouble. Me and another friend was running down a hallway. There was an intersection in the hallway that one way lead down to an old room that was once a jail room. While running down, I glanced down one hallway and saw a person walk across the room. I instantly stopped and started running away, not knowing what I saw. This made my friend start running away too because he didn't know what made me so scared. After that, I just ignored what happened and thought I was probably just seeing things. The rest of the night was pretty uneventful besides just wandering around in the dark at that place.
The next morning, after everyone was awake, they decided to head upstairs. they took the elevator to the top floor, but I got left behind. I went up to the elevator and pressed the button to go up. I was the only person left on that floor. I was standing around waiting for the elevator to come back down when I heard something behind me. It sounded like a deep sigh. Clear as day and right behind me. I jumped a little bit and turned around really fast. No one and nothing was behind me besides a door which lead to the bathrooms. I looked around me and fear started growing on me. I peaked into the bathrooms to see that it was empty.I stood around at the elevator door, waiting to get inside when I felt something touch me on the shoulder. I was scared shitless now. I desperately start hitting the up button on the elevator. It finally opens up and I run inside. I was in the elevator all by myself. It started rising up. I felt a little bit safer now. Once I started getting close to the top floor, the elevator slows down and stops at the top. The door opens very slowly and opens up to a completely dark room. Shitting in my pants, I run into the room to try to find my friends. The elevator door closes and goes back down, making the room even darker than before. I can barely see and have no clue where I am at. I roam around in the dark until I see a red light. I went towards the light and saw that it led to a staircase. I was considering if I should go down it or stay on the same floor to search for my friends. Before I made up my mind, I hear something again. It sounded more like footsteps. I was extremely scared and didn't know what to think. I start going down the stairs which led to a room with many windows. I was relived to be able to see better. It was another room with more office cubicles. I walked around there and went to the elevator. For some reason, it was already opened. I ran inside and headed back down to the basement. I went back to our room where we stayed in the night before and found my all my friends and told them my frightening experience.
Turns out that they did go to the top floor and tried to get back onto the elevator to get me, but the reason why they couldn't get on the elevator again was because I already pushed the button for it to go down. They then headed downstairs to get to the other elevator and went down to the basement again to get me. I still don't know what made those sounds, what I felt, or why the elevator door was already open when I got to it. That experience was both terrifying and exciting. We haven't got the chance to go back again, but I would love to spend another night there again being older and less stupid than I was back then.
A few months ago, after my step-mom's German Shepard died, I would hear clicks on the hardwood floors like the sounds that dog made when she walked. Auditory hallucination, maybe, but I saw the new dog notice it once too.
That's when I noticed it, how had I not before? To my left is a closet, it's about a meter away from my head, and was never particularly menacing, but it's unmistakeable. I can hear breathing, it's slow, it's quiet, but it's definitely there. At this point I'm in fight or flight mode, there's something in my fucking closet, and I'm not getting pushed around in my own bed, I'm opening the bastard right now.
I lean over the gap between my bed and the closet and place my hand on the handle when I realise something. With my head next to the closet I notice that the breathing isn't actually coming from the closet at all. It's coming from, oh fuck, oh fucking no, I can only imagine I looked like a ghost myself from how ill the realisation made me. I look down and there it is.
It's a man, he's knelt down on all fours beside my bed, so that his head is mere inches from the floor. The bright blue alarm clock doesn't give a startling amount of detail, but he seemed to be wearing a dirty yellow tanktop, and what looked like tracksuit bottoms. He had short hair, but I couldn't see his face as I was right above him, granted I didn't want to see his goddamn face. I stayed where I was, absolutely and completely shitting myself, I was beginning to sweat, I could feel tears beginning to well up in my eyes, I don't want this to carry on anymore.
I've had a similar experience. It was months back, and I woke up in the middle of the night. I definitely heard breathing and it was coming from either underneath or next to my bed. Only difference is, I didn't get out from under my covers to check. I just thought "well shit, that is weird, one's brain can do strange things", and I went back to sleep. Funny thing was, the same thing happened to my brother a few months before.
Despite all this, I'm doubtful that ghosts exist. For you, it was one of two things: it was your imagination OR you were dreaming. Trust me, your mind can do strange things to you, especially when A. it's the middle of the night, B. you're sleeping, C. you're very tired, or any combination of the three.
Fuck, now I'm going to have trouble sleeping tonight. And I have school tomorrow. Well, if anything happens, I can just tell myself to STFU and sleep. That's how I got by it last time.
One time I was on facepunch reading abunch of bullshit stories.
Last december my school had a gig where i was performing and afterwards me and a few friends decided to meet at the pub. I had to go home and drop my guitar off/get money, on my way down i had the choice of cutting through the woods, it's a straight, roughly hundred meter long path in complete pitch black. Or i could have followed the streets round and walked an extra 500 or so meters. So i thought "fuck it" and went through the woods (this is about 11 PM) about half way down completely out of any source of light i hear rustling in the bushes and stop dead where i am, dampning my breath so i can hear whatever the rustling was made by without having my own panicky breath in the way.
About 15 meters diagonally left of me was a slope (i know because i've lived here for 10 years and know the path very well) unfortunately because there was no light it was literally PITCH BLACK. I took one, very silent step forward hoping it was just a rock but as i moved my leg up, the bushes rustled again and i could hear a foot brush through one of the piles of leaves that little the wood floor that time of year. I started sweating, as my eyes became more accustomed to the darkness i managed to make out the rest of the path clearly enough to see where i wanted to go and to see the bushline where the noise was coming from.
I was litterally shitting myself, so i thought that if there's something or someone there my best chance is to just bolt it. so i took one BIG, silent breath and bolted out of there leaving a pile of shit in my wake. As i started running the bushes where the noise was coming from practically came alive with noise as what/who ever was in there came out of them. I ran down the rest of the path and darted out of the woods to the pub which was about 2 blocks away. Luckily, i was wearing a black shirt and dark jeans, so i would have been impossible to see in those woods.
I know it's not a ghost story but it's the only time i've ever felt so fucking terrified.
"I don't believe in ghosts cuz I'm thinking logically"
Well, I think logically, but I can't ignore the tonnes of ghost experienses I have had myself, and I have new ones quite regulary.
So, even though I am an convinced atheist, I believe in ghosts.
Ghosts are real, that's all I'm gonna say here.I experienced them in a really old cemetery NEAR my home. But there will still be doubters.
I once saw a ghost. I named him Fred. Fred was quiet. He never moved, just stood by the door. One night...Fred walked past behind my friend into the bathroom and vanished. My friend said "I felt something fucking cold as go past me." I looked in the bathroom and Fred was not to be found. Fred has not shown up once since that night. I miss Fred.

true story
Did you have a bro?.
Yes. He is alive.
This ghost is big and bulky, indenfinantly not family relative. Theres a rumor that ghost roam everywhere and theres a ghost in each house, just they never show themselves. I doubt that. I bet ghost just run around the place till they find someone that'll help them.

Gee what's that!? Some sort of board game??
Story 1: My stereo fell off in my line of sight, as I was about to turn it off "due-to" high blasting rock music, that I had to turn off. Mom came in, obviously to ask me to turn it off, but it seems mr ghost or whatever it was helped me, and batteries came out when it fell, thanks mr ghost.
Or just that the sound of the music managed to move with vibrations to make it fall off the ironing board. Simple explanation to it all.
Story 2: While me and my little sister were playing PS2, though our noise level of the small tv in my room was quite medium/low, we were playing "kingdom hearts 2" HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHA. SCARY HUH?. Just kidding, of course, that was only the beginning, but we were playing this dreadful game, taking turns.
And so we heard a loud noise outside, just very close to us, a little later, we were scared shitless, and basically, muted the tv, to check it out to see what was all the commotion outside our window. And saw two neighbours arguing over some unimportant bullshit, and one with a knife in his hand, pointing at him in anger, cops were called, and pretty much everything was settled down.
But then we went to bed, and some shadowy figure with a bloody knife came into our room, and says "I KNOW WHAT YOU SAW 2 MINS AGO, and slashed at us, and we died".
MADE THAT PART UP. @copyright I know what you did last summer.
i think ghosts are "memories" rather than sentient apparitions that realise they are dead.
i think they get sucked into our time from the past or future for a split second then get sucked back maybe thinking they had seen a ghost too.
just my opinion.
i havent really experienced that much ghostly activity.. =[
and my house is built on the site of an old hospital.
sucks..... but i have some stories.
my friend... lives in a house with his mum and step dad.
his mum LOVES red indians.
she has hundreds of dolls and pictures of them all over the house.
they are extremely creepy.
you sit in his living room watching t.v, then glance at a small native American child doll staring at you.
once i was sitting in his kitchen watching him play WOW or something.
it was freezing cold in the kitchen.
i heard a click and my friend would turn and look past me calm but intensely. then there would be another click and he would look back at the computer.
it was silent apart from the tapping of keys on the keyboard.
i asked what the clicking was about (thinking off a boiler or something.)
he said completely calmly and without looking from the screen "when you hear a click again look at the kettle."
i was feeling freezing cold, shivering and shit scared.
i heard the click and whipped my head around and watched the kettle switch flick up again.
i asked what the fuck that was.
he said very calmly trying to impress me "ghost."
but i could believe him.
i watched him and when it clicked he would turn and look and when he looked it clicked off again.
when he looked away "click" on again.
now i thought that was major creepy.
but.
i saw him a couple of days ago.
he told me he heard ghosts upstairs again.
AND he recorded it on his phone.
shivering i told him to let me listen.
I couldn't hear much because he has a crap phone.
but it sounded like..... whales..
yeah its a crap description.
very clichéd but thats what i heard.
he told me he was sitting at the bottom of his stairs holding his phone up to record it.
he told me he was scared which was surprising because he's one of those really tough short guys you get. anyway.
it was moaning.
thats it. pretty crap i know.
it would help if i saw something other than a kettle =/
When ever I go into this one store down near where I live, Gander Mountain, (Sure some of you guys have heard of it) I always get a creepy experience. Whenever I walk past the mannequins near the back, I keep feeling like something's there. You know how you can always sense someone's behind you, just by the air feeling heavy, or something, even if you never turn around? Yeah, that's what happened.
Not making this up, it's really weird.
"Unfortunately" I haven't run into many ghosts or other strange things, though sometimes I'll be upstairs when it's dark, and I'll feel like something's behind me. And one time, I had some friends over, and I swear I heard something outside. It sounded like a footstep on concrete or something on our patio. Of course I was probably imagining it, I was in the third grade.
im not sure if its ghostly or maybe it is. but there is a shop in town called new look,
the mannequins always give me that same feeling.
I do not believe in ghosts
Yo, on that first story from the original post:
Ya know that feeling you had before you heard the breathing may have been a kind of fucked up 6th sense... scientists actually are doing some studies in the feeling of being watched...
and yes, I understand Occam's Razor... yet what logical statement can we make for these? So don't get at me for this, I am in fact more of a skeptic than most other people, well at those around me...
My stories
1- I was with my friend in a barn behind my house, now deer used to be processed here, so any person who actively believes in ghosts would hate this place... Well we were hanging out and the door was open (like it tends to be, so nobody locks us in) and it suddenly was thrown shut. As in the actual motion of the door went like it was grabbed and thrown (noting there was NO wind, and nothing else was around that door to cause it to do that). Freaked the fuck out, both me and my friend bolted out the door, and I never had an experience like that again... and I go to that barn often for things, and to hang out still.
2- While taking a shower, I was tripped... like not like ya slip, no my leg was pulled from under me (and I grabbed the curtain and it went down with me...), with seemingly no other option, as a teen who doesn't like embarrassing himself, I just finished my shower, and I just never thought about it until I saw this. Of course you will say I slipped, but I swear to this day something grabbed me and pulled my leg out from under me.
3- if there are ghosts, some of them are fucked up: After I got a bad sunburn from a day at the beach I spent the rest of the night watching movies, with tea soaked towels on me... OK, so I go to bed, and the next morning I woke up very early, sat up for a bit to get my eyes used to the little light, and so I don't get all the blood sucked out of my head and fall over. After this I head to the bathroom, use the toilet, wash my hands, and then I look into the mirror. I see my burned face in the mirror (what did you expect?), but then blackness filled my vision, I collapsed and must have been flailing or something, as I ended hitting my head, twice, and my leg. After this I manage to get up and I stagger to a chair, I feel dizzy, and it feels like my eyes are sucked into the back of my eye sockets, my vision reminded me of the effect you get when you turn the FOV way up on a video game. After sitting in the chair, I feel better after a few minutes, yet I am scared shitless... in that I sat for 2 hours, with a TV in front of me, yet I had to stand up to get the remote, so I didn't have anything to do for those 2 hours when other people got up, then I was down in that chair for a few more... Now I can see people saying "you stood up too fast" when I know I did not, I sat up for a few minutes before standing... All I know from that is somethin fucked with my head...
3- long story about vision weirdness
I've had something similar happen before, actually. I don't think it's ghost-related though. I woke up one morning, and as I was preparing to take my shower, my vision kinda, not really fogged but it did this weirdness like you said kinda with the FOV and for the most part it was, like, black with this trippy... spiderweb pattern? I'm not sure how to explain it, but I freaked out for a couple minutes thinking I was going blind. It went away after a while.
Freaked me the fuck out.

Even so no matter what your going to get scared shitless by something else.
Alright, so I'm at my grandmother's house and she runs down to the grocery to get some milk and some other stupid bullshit.
I'm laying back on the recliner and I hear the fucking toilet flush. Nobody's home except me. It's coming from the upstairs bathroom. I thought hurf durf it's just the cat.
I look beside me and the Cat is right there asleep. So I walk upstairs to check this shit out. Nothing there. Went back downstairs and it flushed again and the lid slammed shut.
I ignored it and went back to watching TV. The end.
Ironically I think mankind has proven time and time again that we are scarier than any ghost.
K so this all started when i was about 3, my grandfather was diagnosed with mesophelioma (an untreatable form of lung cancer cause from inhaling asbestos) and he eventually died. I didnt understand death at the time and i was standing at the grave and i cant help but see a white figure standing in the corner of my vision, 3 years later im at school and the door has a window leading out into the hall, i look out and the figures just barely visible, then it vanishes. Since im six i just shrug it off. Fastforward 4 years to my tenth birthday, were just cutting the cake and out of the window i see THE SAME FUCKING FIGURE, just standing there, its always so far away that i cant see its face so i start to sweat and tell my mom, she thinks im just being an attention-whore so she forgets about it. Fastforward to a year ago, im playin my PS3 in my room and i hear something close, no ones home i grab a hockey stick from my closet, as soon as i walk into the hall THERE IT FUCKING IS, and this time its up close. I am staring into the face of my long deceased grandfather, tears roll down my face as a throw the hockey stick at him, and it goes THROUGH HIM, i run into my room and lock my door. I stayed in my room for 7 hours just doing nothing but lying in the fetal position in the corner of my room, i havent seen my grandfathers ghost since
