Well not exactly a ghost story but something strange that happened to me:
It was 1997 or 98 I can't really remember exactly when, anyways one night I had a dream, I was walking around a place, one thing I do remember is it being quite hot and I still remember quite well what it looked like; normally I do not remember much of my dreams but this one stuck very well.
A few years later, must have been 2001 I think, I went on holiday to America, Florida with my mum and sister, after being there a day or so we went to look around the local area and we came to this block of shops, I recognized this from my dream immediately and as far as I'm aware it matched the place I dreamed of exactly; I of course told my mum but she did not believe me.
I still can't explain it, for some reason I dreamed of a place over 3,000 miles away I would visit years later; I've not had any other strange experiences.
I've totally had the same type of thing happen to me.
I had a dream a long time ago, and I only remembered one image from it, like a snapshot. Eventually due to the passage of time I forgot all about it, or so I thought. I was camping some time later a few years or so when I saw the same image. I was just walking through the forest near our camp and I looked up at the sky through the trees. The position of the trees and the sunlight, everything was exactly the same and I remembered that I'd seen it before in my dream. It was a freaky case of déjà vu.
My parents go to this spiritualist church in Sacramento. The goers are generally older types, but not necessarily seniors. They're belief is that there isn't a single God, but a collective "intelligence" that communes in a "spirit world" across the valley of death. A lot of time is spent talking about life lessons and experiences, hardships, good times, et cetera and so on. After the reverend says her peace, and after they've sung some songs, they move on to the next part.
The Messages.
Here's the skinny; there a few individuals in the church (the reverend being the most in tune) that are sensitive to the spirit side. One goes up to the podium, closes his/her eyes, then reopens and addresses someone within the rows, bearing a message. If that person gives permission, than the one at the podium will give him/her their words.
First, they will describe who is trying to communicate from the other side, like their personality or things they usually wore; aspects of people they never even met, but can describe in a way that the deceased's relatives can clearly recognize. Once the identity is established, the message is given. The words only mean something to the recipient, like "Don't trust that doctor" or "Samantha wasn't your fault". I've seen new goers, those who have never seen the people in the church before break down into tears after being given messages, understanding perfectly well what the messages mean, who gave it and why.
Although, sometimes, what the spirits have to say can be completely arcane. I was once given a message from a dead lumberjack to "Beware the woman in red." Crazy shit, but I decided to keep it at heart. When I see that sultry bitch I'll be sure to give her a couple of five fingered lessons in discipline.
Take it as you will, Facepunch, because I don't have any proof to back it up, save an address. Though do know this; I couldn't make this shit up if I tried. I'm not that creative.
I hear breathing in my house from time to time (different from the usual sounds the house makes)
the tv in the other room has turned itself on and off while I was home alone (only one time has it done this, several times in a row)
I heard a female scream in my house while I was alone
That was a HORRIFYING evening

:wtc:
I was upstairs where my bed is about a week ago.
I woke up at 1:50 AM and was dripping in sweat (no i wasn't :flashfap:)
And I looked around, there was the light that illuminates the living room, which is below my room, and it was on. I saw an old man who walked toward me and i started to have my heart pound. He reached out to touch me, I could hear his feet making the creaks on my floor, and then he dissappeard like little pieces of burnt paper.
I was like wtf, and scared.
There was this house, it was dark, and it was quite a lark, so it was set up on my mark, to go inside, i saw a ghost, but i lied, my friend said sigh, and then i said, oh my, look at the time, this is a sign, to go away, but when we went out, it was already may. Too bad we keep telling made up ghost stories, because we didn't get laid.

From which game the yellow icon at the bottom left corner is again ?
I loved the original SA thread of this.. Yet I don't have anything to contribute with :(
Okay. When I was a very little kid, back in like 1996, I saw a woman in a green dress. I told my mom about her. She brought in my brother next, and my sister second, who both reported the same thing, but thought nothing of it. (Keep in mind that my siblings are the same age as me)
My sister even brought up that the lady had blond curly hair. We all mentioned she had a green dress.
A few years later my mom met one of the people who had sold us our house. He and his brothers sold their house to us when their mother died.
My mom found out that their mother had blond curly hair and was buried in a green dress. She had died of alcohol poisoning back in the late 80's.

Probably been posted but most ghost in the bedroom stories can be explained by sleep paralysis. You're still dreaming but half awake, it can be scary as shit.

Shit, facepunch. Last time I read one of these threads (like a year or two ago) I was afraid of the dark for 3 months D:
Now I'm not :c00l:
also sleep paralysis lol
only time I've had it my face was inside my pillow so it didn't matter, I struggled and I got to move, it felt so awesome, moving but not moving

That just happened to me last night.:frown:
Yes, I'm sure that happened to me a couple of times. :ghost: Fuck you, goddammit. Well at least it wasn't real. As I thought they'll be.
Despite all our scientific knowledge we still don't understand fully how the human brain or our universe works, we can't say ghost are real and we can't say we are 100% sure they don't exist.
explain, did you see a figure above you?
About a week ago, I wasn't felling well and it was about 2 in the morning and I couldn't sleep. I saw a guy in a black cloak or something and fedora out of the corner of my eye, his face was all weird, I went up to him and he just continued staring at me and I wasn't scared, it was just really fucking weird to see some guy in the middle of my bedroom, I asked him what he was doing here, he said something (I forget what) put his hand on my shoulder, I collapsed and I woke up the next morning in my bed. I was wondering what the fuck happened for the rest of the day.
If you woke up in your bed then it was probably a dream. I've had dreams that I remember as real experiences too.
explain, did you see a figure above you?
I see a figure above me all the time. It's called a ceiling.
Alright, I've been admiring facepunch from a distance for awhile now, and this thread is what made me make an account and start posting. In my life, I've had two real freaky "ghost-like" things happen to me.
I don't remember my age at the time. I was very young, less than 10, but I remember as though it was yesterday. When I was that age, asthma was a serious concern for me. I had to use a breathing machine twice a day and use an inhaler. It was late at night: again, I don't recall the time, but it was very late. I was asleep for the majority of the night, until I got an itching feeling, like something is watching you and I woke up. I looked around my room and saw nothing. I would have shrugged off the feeling and went to bed, but for some strange reason, I couldn't breathe. It was as if a ridiculous amount of pressure was being applied to me. I could not move. I tried my hardest, but I couldn't. I now know that this is some kind of sleep paralysis, and it happens to everyone. I was laying in bed, on my side staring at my closet that was across the room. Unable to move. Unable to close my eyes. When I was breathing comfortably and able to move again, I heard a sound. I looked at the closet door once more and the second I shot a glance at it, it busted open like a swat team forced its way through. Sitting in the door way was a shadowy-figure, I couldn't see anything, and I sure as hell didn't want to stay and stare. I jumped up and ran immediately into my parents bedroom, screaming my head off and breathing rapidly.
-----
I only had to write down this story because it reminded me so much of the OP's.
The second one was less of a ghost story, but extremely weird. I was even younger here, when I believed in all kinds of monsters and what-not. The one place I would not go at that age was my parents room. I thought it was scary. I can't tell you why, but everything always seemed odd about it when I was younger. I should tell you now that I was very attached to my dad. Always have been. But I'm talking about a daddies boy, someone who never likes it when his dad leaves him. So one day, my dad leaves for work. I hug him goodbye and watch him walk out of the front door. I heard his truck roar as he turned on the engine, and heard him pull away. I knew he was gone. However, the second I confirmed this in my head, I heard a screaming. I knew it was my dads voice, and I knew where it was coming from. He, it, whatever was calling my name said Jessie multiple times, and it was coming from my parents closet. As I said, I love my dad. The second I thought I heard my dad screaming my name, I came running and darted into the closet. I had a huge smile on my face, as I thought he was pulling a joke on me. I moved clothes out of the way, ones that were hanging from the poles, thinking he was hiding behind them. He wasn't. No one was there. As I turned around to leave, the door shut in my face.
I don't remember what happened from there. I remember crying and my mom banging on the door until she could open it. But not anything from there on out.
--
I haven't had any experiences since then. Maybe thats why those are so easy to remember. Maybe its because I was young and my mind was as well. I don't know. Just thought I should share. :]
I often as I child saw creatures in the dark. One time I saw a rabbit-humanoid figure reaching up to something on my cupboard. Turns out it was Easter, and where he was reaching was where my easter basket was. In a way, as scary as they were I miss these hallucinations, it seems my imagination is lost. I used to see vague space ships when I closed my eyes to go to sleep, which would help me get to sleep.
A pencil hit me in the back of the head when i was in my room once, nobody else was in the room.
Never did find an explanation, but after a while i stopped caring seeing as it never happened again.
While in a German hotel, I came out of the shower to find that in the fogged up mirror, my left eye was glowing. No matter the angle, or my position in or out of the room, my eye was still glowing in front of the vague reflection of my face. The 'lens flare' style light vanished when I wiped away steam, but when I moved back in front of it, it reappeared.
I was freaked out all day.
i guess this thread isnt over, well i got a few stories that i remember that i havnt posted,
1. me and my family(cousins and all) were going down to detroit to go to a wedding/shopping (prices in USA are better than here in canada :P) the first few days we stay at my grampas house and for the wedding we are going to stay in this church/hotel/golfcourse thing and the basement was a place for monks/priests where they would die when they got old, and for the wedding party, the tables were outside in this courtyard and to get to the washrooms you had to walk through the basement thing and it was very creepy because while you were walking through, it felt like someone was following you down the hallways. not a ghost story but it was fucking creepy to walk down there at night
K so this all started when i was about 3, my grandfather was diagnosed with mesophelioma (an untreatable form of lung cancer cause from inhaling asbestos) and he eventually died. I didnt understand death at the time and i was standing at the grave and i cant help but see a white figure standing in the corner of my vision, 3 years later im at school and the door has a window leading out into the hall, i look out and the figures just barely visible, then it vanishes. Since im six i just shrug it off. Fastforward 4 years to my tenth birthday, were just cutting the cake and out of the window i see THE SAME FUCKING FIGURE, just standing there, its always so far away that i cant see its face so i start to sweat and tell my mom, she thinks im just being an attention-whore so she forgets about it. Fastforward to a year ago, im playin my PS3 in my room and i hear something close, no ones home i grab a hockey stick from my closet, as soon as i walk into the hall THERE IT FUCKING IS, and this time its up close. I am staring into the face of my long deceased grandfather, tears roll down my face as a throw the hockey stick at him, and it goes THROUGH HIM, i run into my room and lock my door. I stayed in my room for 7 hours just doing nothing but lying in the fetal position in the corner of my room, i havent seen my grandfathers ghost since

holy shit, was he talking or saying anything?, and yeah are you canadian?, i am and i keep a good 'ol hockey stick in my room for protection too lol
1.It happened 2 months ago. I went to my friends birthday party. It was like about 9-10 people. We cut the cake gave the presents. So we just ate the cake and some junk food. Then i just sat to a old couch, it was dirty and smeely. I dunno why i sat there. They were still having fun, chatting, playing bottle twist (i dont know how you spell it) I suddenly had something wrong with my eyes like getting vaporised in ground and a sound like wind. It stopped. Then suddenly my friends heads are turned into talking skulls. They were talking eachother. I fucking screamed out and that creepy thing gone. I dont know what the fuck happened. I was humiliated in front of them
2. I was in my aunts house in a village, i go there in summers to see my grandmom. So in night it was like 23:30 i gone to bed. I was about to sleep. Suddenly a figure appeared in front of the rooms door. It was like a hanged man/woman. Its neck was like broken. Just like hanged people. I was very scared and i know that i was awake. I rubbed my eyes because i can remove these hallusinations but it was still there. I was very scared and about to cry. So i put the pillow up my head closed my eyes and i tried to not mind it. It took me 1 hour to sleep.. When i woke up in morning it was gone. Heres the picture of that stupid thing. It has no legs!

Have you been reading chain-letters again?
Ghosts aren't real. How come people can't separate reality and fiction?
The other day i went out to my kitchen to grab a drink and suddently the soap from the sink flew across the counter and hit then wall, my mom was reading at the table and she turns around and said "what was that?" i said the soap just hit the wall, who touched it? no one else was in the room and then my dog gets up from sleeping walks over in front of me and stares at the wall, i just shrugged it off and walked away, it was really weird and scary at the same time

My cat Mert died a few weeks ago, my entire family and I left inconsolable by the departure of the 24 year old friend. We found him dead and buried him that morning. My Mom left for work, and my Dad and I were the only people around the house. Suddenly we heard a meowing sound. My other cat didn't have that kind of meow, and nevertheless was outside. My dad and I both heard him, so it couldn't have been a coincidence.
My other cat Cecil was hit by a car and died about a week ago (This summer was sad for our cats :frown:), and for some reason, just yesterday, a cat that looks incredibly similar showed up randomly at our door. No ID, just out of the blue. He keeps showing up.
This could be explained as that thing where u wake up but you are only half awake and your mind messes with what you are seeing, i can't remember what it is called.
When i was on holiday to ireland we stayed on this farm, i woke up one morning and i could do nothing but look directly at the bottom of my bed and i could hear the very loud noise of wind being caught in like an open window, i saw a strange figure to the right of the bed near the door but as i was looking directly forward it was blurred, whenever i think about it i get the image of Vivian from dawn of the dead opening, pretty terrifying :P
I'm getting a bit anxious and looking around me now just writing about it, guess i'm just a wimp.
Yeah one time I woke up in the middle of the night and ass soon as I opened my eyes there was someone's face like an inch apart from mine and I looked into their eyes. I covered my eyes with my hands in shock and when I uncovered them it was gone.
