• White Guys: "We Suck and We're Sorry"

To be honest, I wish I wasn't white. I grew up in a mostly Asian melting-pot-esque neighborhood; most of my friends are Asian. I don't have many white friends. I identify more with Asian culture. As an effect I frequently am called "white boy" in a negative context (not by my friends, but other people), and I get shit slung at me (slavery, white privilege) that I really cannot relate to at all, nor was a part of. I don't really experience this "white privilege" that most other people talk about because I'm actually a minority in the area where I live, where there's more "Asian-privilege" for lack of a better term. Yet I see all over the internet, and everywhere else that white people suck, and most of them have no idea what it's like to not be on top. All of these videos about people saying how great it is to be white. How much of an advantage we have over people of other races. I can't really understand where they're coming from at all. It's like I'm getting the worst of both worlds.

Lets go Islanders?
1. Asians are usually termed as a "model minority" and don't face the same kind of negative discrimination other minorities do. 2. There's really nowhere in America (unless you're Hawaiian or a Pacific Islander, in which case ignore this) with a large enough Asian population for that to occur except in highly concentrated clusters. Worst case scenario you have to travel a town over and then not be a minority anymore. 3. Being a part of a minority race in an area doesn't mean you aren't better off. Whites still have a leg up in the south and cities with large black populations, for instance. It's not the demographics of the general population, it's the demographics of the upper classes
When the British Empire was a thing we improved some of the places we controlled (still fucked up the population thanks to slavery and generally shitiness), when we left we didn't really leave instructions or anything, most of the places had no idea what to do without us being their leaders as we made sure the lower classes never learned such things. We really fucked these places up through our actions as an empire. Makes me wonder where some of the LEDCs would be if we hadn't just bounced out of them so suddenly and actually attempted a proper transition.
They became better overall. What if colonization never happened, and Europe just became exponentially more technologically advanced while the rest of the world stayed on the same pace they had been on forever (where technological innovations were basically nil)?

What if colonization never happened, and Europe just became exponentially more technologically advanced while the rest of the world stayed on the same pace they had been on forever (where technological innovations were basically nil)?
If that happened (and assuming nobody went anywhere), then the world would be like this: Mesoamerica would be full of Kingdoms and Empires practicing ritual human sacrifice and going through population booms and busts. It would have entered the bronze age, and probably expanded as far north as Texas. They would have writing, but only a tiny noble elite would have it. The rest of the population would be either slaves or serfs. They would be on par with Mycenaean Greece or something. South America would have a similar situation in the Andes, but the rest would be full of subsistence neolithic farmers or hunter-gatherers. Similar to above in terms of literacy and technology. North America would be full of petty chiefdoms engaging in warfare and raiding each other, with perhaps some access to bronze and primitive writing. Greenland would be devoid of human life. Africa would be sparsely populated areas of little human habitation, with rich and powerful kingdoms/empires scattered randomly. The North would be well developed and nearly on par with the West, and Ethiopia would not be far behind. Asia would be in different stages depending on where you were, but probably would be entering or be in the process of industrialization. India, China, SE Asia, Korea and Japan would be doing well. China would have had a dynasty collapse again, Japan would probably have had another bloody civil war, and India would most probably have a large Empire replacing the Mughals. Australia would be still in the paleolithic.
White/Male guilt is counterproductive to racial/gender equality, if you're telling people to be feel sorry for how they were born and being privileged by society then you're doing nothing more than promoting Racism/Sexism. The people who try to get in the way of the progress of equality are part of the real issue regardless of skin color or gender.
if you can't acknowledge the concept of privilege without feeling like you're being accused of something then you probably have problems
"I refuse to apologize for slavery because I had no part in it. However, I will take credit for my "white ancestors" contributions to society because I totally contributed."
if you can't acknowledge the concept of privilege without feeling like you're being accused of something then you probably have problems
Problem being, never having had to even consider that you might be privileged.
if you can't acknowledge the concept of privilege without feeling like you're being accused of something then you probably have problems
It's not that people aren't acknowledging the concept of privilege, it's obvious that white people have it better than other races (well at least they do in America and some parts of Europe, maybe even Australia), they just don't like being harassed by "social justice warriors".
