Im sure its been requested loads of times, but I dont want to read 86 pages. How do I make a .apng with photoshop? i used to be able to do it but it seems I have forgot. Using the firefox addon just makes FP use it as a .jpg Its only 6 frames with a 10 second delay on each frame. I have it layed out in photoshop but forgot how to save it as a .apng
Save it as a Gif and then use gif2apng
That's how I do it
gif2apng wont work for me. I have no idea why.

Did you drag and drop the image onto the gif2apng icon?
Yup. A command line windows pops up for a quarter of a second then nothing. And it did this on two different downloads.

My current avatar is compiled of things I like, but right now its just the beginning frame.

Transperate on the grey areas. Resize to fit. No border.
Here you go.

Or if somebody wants to run this through a different converter. FP just takes this one as it is and uploads it as a .jpg

Well, that could be to do with it being roughly 6 times over the blue member file size limit.

Are you sure there isn't a *.png at the same place as the gif?

Photoshop doesn't support apng
Someone was supposedly writing a plug in, but they never came back with it.
Yeah, why are you saving a photo as a PNG anyway? Just save it as a .jpeg, you won't get anomalies unless you've set the quality really low. Or if you've got photoshop then just use it's handy "save for web" feature.
Size limit? 151Kb? I am sure. It was on my desktop which contained 5 items at the time, including the converter file. Nothing.
[editline]14th January 2011[/editline]
Ah yeah, 29Kb limit. That is pretty small IMO.
[editline]14th January 2011[/editline]
If I use photoshop the file is small. I just forgot how to save it as a .apng Nobody knows?
It's really not that small. I've been in forums where the limit is 10Kb, it's very reasonable. Why do you want to use an .apng anyway? You've got a static image there.

Keep in mind,
Apng isn't an official format, if it was, or when it becomes one, Garry will most likely restrict it,
Also
Apng is a work around, blue's are meant to have static images, one frame,
one 80x80 frame easily fits into ~30kb

No, there's 8 frames, changes every 10 seconds.
Its not supposed to be. Its a series of 8 images that are supposed to be displayed with a 10 second delay. I made something with 12 or 15 images with a 10 second delay on each and it was small enough to use. The firefox .apng just saves it too large.

I have used .apng on a few other avatars and they worked great. i was just wondering if anybody could remind me how to produce them using photoshop.
Oh right, I didn't see the change. You could cut it down to like 4 frames or something and decrease the delay.

Delay doesn't do anything,
delay is just a line of text in the image that tells it "keep displaying this same for x time"
Its firefoxes .apng addon thats causing it to be so large.
Save it as a gif,
give me said gif
I'll turn it into an apng
I would be very grateful. Thank you.

Even the GIF is smaller than the firefox created .apng
I know, but from what I have seen, the .apng should be smaller than the GIf it was created from.
Good lord, what filtering did you use? Did you just use default settings .gif?
Thank you very much good sir. :tiphat:

Yeah. Not huge on quality as long as people can see what it is.

a line of text still makes the image larger if only a tiny amount
a line of text still makes the image larger if only a tiny amount
Varying what x is does nothing though
Somewhere in that image
no matter what
display x frame for x
It doesn't matter file size wise, wether that number is 17 or 10 or 12
It was more aimed that the idea of people not staring at his avatar for ten seconds.
You'd be surprised. I got 3 or more people to stare at my avatar for more than 2 minutes to prove this guy was crazy. And it suites me more than a silly face or some cartoon character.
It was more aimed that the idea of people not staring at his avatar for ten seconds.
Indeed, most people will never see more than the first frame.
Can I have one with a black background, white outline and in bold capital text saying: "Dont Look At This"
