And if it's not too much, could you make a version without a border and one with a border? Many thanks
The program I use sucks shit so it doesn't have a nice easy way to do borders. Sorry. :/

Whats great program for trying to make own animated gifs from video clips? Is macromedia flash 8 any good?
Whats great program for trying to make own animated gifs from video clips? Is macromedia flash 8 any good?
Adobe Photoshop CS5 or Imageready CS2. An easy but shitty result way is using VDUB.
Adobe Photoshop CS5 or Imageready CS2. An easy but shitty result way is using VDUB.
I would only recommend CS2 for small gifs because it can't handle more than about 500 frames before it starts to shit itself.
Could anyone avatar-ize this?
I see it doesn't work. Slightly too large then. Damn photoshop lying about the filesize it'll become. When are they ever going to fix that... Try it now.
Woop didn't see that. [editline]13th March 2011[/editline] There we go, thank you very much :buddy:

Shitstorm inbound.
What Photoshop are you using?I'd really like to know how you make them :v:
Photoshop CS5. Download GIF. Click, drag over Photoshop and release. Open the animation tab, obviously. Set frame delays to 0.06 or 0.04 seconds (unless it's a really low-frame GIF). 0,04 is 24FPS but doesn't render in the same speed on all browsers. 0,06 is good if you remove every other frame in the animation or want it to be displayed similar over all browsers. For example on a typically low-budget animoo animation every other frame is a double (if it is a smoothly animated scene of course), then you delete all those and make the remaining frames 0.06 because it's not as laggy as 0.08 which would be 12FPS but doesn't go too fast like 0.04 because it wasn't made with a new frame every frame at 24FPS. 0.06 gives smoothnes and long enough time for it to look proper in almost any case. Make a new frame above all the other layers whilst having selected the first frame in the animation tab. CTRL + A to select the whole image and right click and select "stroke". Make a 1 pixel inner stroke with black colour. Woop, border on all frames. CTRL+SHIFT+ALT+S to save, chose GIF and fuck around between the 3 top compressions for it and dick around with the colours and dithering as well. If the colours are below 20-30 it can often look better without dithering than with, as well as taking less space.

Also thanks for that, I'll save it somewhere, but I'd also like to know how I could make an avatar out of a youtube video, like mine is
Would CS4 work? Also thanks for that, I'll save it somewhere, but I'd also like to know how I could make an avatar out of a youtube video, like mine is
CS4 would work. With youtube I just use FRAPS. Record the youtube video then throw the FRAPS file into Virtual Dub. Then I edit the video so I've only got the part I want. Sometimes I re-size it with Virtual Dub when cropping it with it, sometimes not. Then I export the remains of the video as an image sequence (JPEG at 100 in quality). Then open Adobe Bridge. Go to the folder the images have been exported to (needs to be in a folder of it's own, not together with other images). Use "Tools - Photoshop - "Load Files into Photoshop Layers..." Wait for Photoshop to put in every image in it's own layer in the same document. Then in the animation tab, press the half-triangle up in the right corner and chose "Makes frames from layers". Wait for Photoshop to make every layer into a frame of it's own. Select all the frames and go to the triangle again and "Reverse frames" since itmakes the animation in reverse. You can also export the sequence as a GIF with Virtualdub. But it looks bad and you have little control over quality and size. You can also export the full-size video as a GIF and then throw that into photoshop and re-size it from there making it an easy process when it comes to importing it to Photoshop, but you will have less detail to work with, but it can look acceptable. But there is no reason to do so as the result will all in all be worse. It's also possible that you can't just drag the GIF over in Photoshop CS4. If you can't, go to "File - Import - Video Frames to Layers" type " * " in the filename area. This will ignore it displaying only valid fileformats. Chose the GIF and press enter.
