We have plenty of hot hatchbacks in America. The Civic Si, Golf GTI... I really don't know what else you need, those are the essentials. :v
The SI is a shadow of its former self, and isn't even offered as a hatchback anymore. The GTI is the only hatchback that follows the original formula. The WRX counts although it's nowhere near as pretty as the GTI is. Also, driving in the US is probably far easier than in other countries on account of our wider roads - though, our drivers are a bit lacking. Sometimes I wish the driver's tests were a bit harder so people would learn not to hog the left lane and actually know how to drive in adverse conditions.

good reviews from these guys: [editline]23rd May 2011[/editline] have a look through their videos to find the golf, i30, focus and other cars

And I wasn't aware we were talking about brand new hot hatches. If that's the case then yes, it'd be nice to have some fresh pickin's in the states. But the older Civic Si (Up to the generation before last) are still great cars and will last for many hundreds of thousands of miles. The Golf is always a good choice as far as hatchbacks go, I'd drive an MK1 diesel Golf over a hot hatch any day, way better mileage plus it's a far more interesting car than the overstylized hatchbacks of today. Regardless, if I were going to get a hot hatch, it would be an MK1 GTI or EG Civic Si. It's really too bad we didn't get the good engines in the hot hatch version of the Civic. The B16 was a far superior powerplant than the D16Z6. And the EK version of the Si was a coupe.
Polo is defs a hatch in the small cars section. The Mazda smile isn't that bad, but there are much nicer looking front ends, i.e. the lancer front end. It's still enough for me to hate the car - plus it drives like shit. i hope they change it to something decent. it could be a very decent competitor - but it's been a smile for ages. they're in no hurry to change it, that's for sure.
Source? I drive a 3. My only complaint is the torque steer, which is a serious issue no doubt (especially on the Speed3 since the power is nearly doubled), but aside from that I can't find any faults. It's also only been a smile for 3 years now. They changed it for the 2010 model. All models before that looked pretty good. Also, unless you are talking about the older Lancers, the new one also looks like shit. Perma-unhappiness.
Source?
my experience. then again, it was only a short test drive with a manual transmission. i just didn't like the feel of it at all. Do wagons count as hot hatches?
...No.
Hey, it's got a hatch! :v: Even if it has a supercharged V8 and 5 doors.
Big frown > big smile
Oh I was never arguing that point. I'm just saying it still looks like shit. Better looking shit, but shit nonetheless. [editline]23rd May 2011[/editline] Like the Mazda 3 looks like it's been sniffing glue all day. The Lancer looks like it ate a bar of soap or something of the like.

I think the current Fiesta is quite a cool car. However I cannot get my head round the fact that they're selling a saloon/sedan version of it. It's ugly and doesn't make a whole lot of sense at least not to me.
Some people prefer Sedans over hatchbacks. To most people, they look more professional.
But a sedan version of a hatchback? I wouldn't think professional, I'd think "you poor thing, you"
is the fiat 500 an acceptable hatchback or is it something driven by a homosexual hipster? ps: it hasen't been sold in america until just recently
oh were talking about hot-hatches? I thought we were just talking about hatchbacks in general. K20 EG Civic hatch ASAP
is the fiat 500 an acceptable hatchback or is it something driven by a homosexual hipster? ps: it hasen't been sold in america until just recently
Only the Abarth version is something I would drive. Give it a little power and it could be a fun car to drive.
i want to buy one of these and chuck it into a turn really hard [editline]23rd May 2011[/editline] with lots of stuff in the back
My brother had one, they actually handle pretty well. Me and my brother tried rolling it, it wouldn't happen. (In everyday scenarios, like turning and hitting a curb going 70)

It's a very fun car, but also very girly. Her brother sometimes drives it, with his seat all the way back, like some sorta G. He looks silly. I'd only buy one if it was a hot one, like the abarth.
Some people prefer Sedans over hatchbacks. To most people, they look more professional.
I always think Sedan versions of a hatchback as a 'Poor Man's Sedan'
