Here's a decent hatchback. Hyundai Veloster.
So if I buy that I expect it to have the same amount of power as the one in the video.

On the note of the 500, the new TwinAir version is pretty cool.
I always felt that, uh... this was one of the superior hatchbacks. [img_thumb]http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/2/21/Reliant_Robin_Green.jpg[/img_thumb] I love when the img_thumb tag decides to work perfectly.

However I cannot get my head round the fact that they're selling a saloon/sedan version of it. It's ugly and doesn't make a whole lot of sense at least not to me.
It's mostly an American thing. I think Americans have considered station wagons and hatchbacks too similar to the "uncool" things they sat in when they were children, even though crossovers are basically the same, just raised a couple inches off the ground. Sedans are considered way better even though compact cars simply don't look good in sedan form.
even though compact cars simply don't look good in sedan form.
Not all of them. The New Elantra looks good in Sedan. The New Civic wouldn't look good in Hatchback (US Version), The Focus is alright in Sedan, and the Mazda 3 is fine in Sedan.

Yes, the sedan's not bad looking, but when given the option of a hatchback, which is far more versatile, it's silly for most of my fellow Americans to discount them. Also, I feel Hyundai's new design language will become dated soon. They all have swoopy designs with headlights that go nearly to the A pillar (well, I suppose all new cars are guilty of this) and all look like they sorta just melted. I far prefer Kia's, although it largely has to do with Peter Schreyer who designed Audis only a few years back - it makes Kia's new offerings look way more refined and European, I suppose.
My mate just sent me a photo of a matt black 500 :iia: i'd drive it
pretty much the best
Some woman who lives round the corner drives one of these bad boys

They stopped looking good about 5 or 6 years ago when they shaped them like a bullet. I really want a golf but at 17-18 with no driving experience i'd be fucked over by UK insurance with anything over a 1.2 :frown: I'm looking at second hand vw polos which will probably be a better idea.

Useless as offroad vehicles, moderate as utility vehicles, and useless as a street vehicle. It takes all the worst aspects of SUVs and sedans into one. It's a damn shame hatchback's aren't as popular in the US. I'm thinking of just sticking with a hatch for most of my life. It's practical, small, and nimble. Perfect city and driver's car. [editline]25th May 2011[/editline] Also, Kia > Hyundai any day. Hyundai's cars look too much like cheaper versions of German luxury cars. Well that's because they are, but so many of the styling elements are over-exaggerated or simply distasteful.

I like the look of the current Civic 5-door, although I haven't driven one. If you're not into Japanese cars then you should probably go for the Focus. I have driven a Focus before, it was a 2005 4-door and it was comfortable and well built.
yeh thats why they're called wagons not hatch backs :downs:
It's a wagon with a hatchback. :crossarms:

i hate it
gotta admit. took a look at the hyundai i30 hatch today. impressive for a korean car.
the i30 has been tearing it up in south america. driving in Brazil and that's all I ever see, and it's got a nice ass to look at
get this one
So I took a look at the i30 on google. The Brazilian version has a different back I swear because what the fuck is this? [editline]26th May 2011[/editline] Shit I thought they looked better than that. It isn't too bad, but fuck all the images on google make it look worse than in real life. I think the key is size. It's tiny, but these images provide no sense of scale.
Vauxhall Corsa C. They're cheap as fuck especially if used, but if you wanna spend some additional dosh on one you can make it look (and perform) a lot better too.
