War started of with sticks and stones, I bet people weren't complaining about how it wasn't "real" war when the bow was getting used.
Eh, I'll just shut up.
Good man!! :v:
Incidentally I want a T-55
Well I guess we need space tanks now.
Hardly, we have treaties saying that weaponising space is illegal :v:

Actually...
When the crossbow first began to see battle around Europe, some wanted them banned (the church, possibly?) because of how their "unfair power" allowed a mere peasant with a few hours of target practice (and the right bolts) to kill a horseback knight in armor who had spent a lifetime in combat training.
Yeah, but it doesn't feel like ''war'' anymore.
You could say that about Drone pilots.
Sitting in a nice air conditioned office in Arizona while flying a drone into enemy territory in Afghanistan, blow up a few dozen militants, call it a day and be back in time for dinner with the family.

You can buy road legal T-55s in the UK for around £30,000.

Most funny thing I've seen someone attempt to ban in warfare was the trench gun during WWII by the germans.
Yes, the same country that used chemical weapons wanted a shotgun banned.

They wanted shotguns banned because most of the time they just ended up maiming the enemy. Shotguns are still used in combat though, but only for breaching doors.

And this is the same country that successfully banned expanding rounds even though they used oversized hunting cartridges as "evidence" of their excessive damage. They wanted to get rid of the British advantage during the 19th century.
Yeah, but it doesn't feel like ''war'' anymore.
By your logic, the last real major "war" would be WWI.
Please, don't be so naive and think that modern warfare is all computers and smart bombs.
No one knows what modern warfare is like because the last time two equally(ish) matched and advanced nations fought each other conventionally was WWII.

I'd say that would have to go to the 1972 Yom Kippur War. Not sure about the stuff during 1982 in Lebanon. During the Cold War, the Middle East was the place that modern armored warfare was being developed and tested on the battlefield.
Well, if we're mentioning kick ass warhammer tanks.
WWI tanks look weird.
The pinnacle of tank styling was the T-34.

Prove me wrong.
Also, good thread. Interesting how in both WWI and WWII, when the Germans finally got the good shit, they were too deep in shit to get shit. Do you know if the FT-17 holds the record for fastest-turning tank?
I've always preferred the Panzer IV myself.
Learn to fear this mother fucker.
This thing has more weapons then a small cruiser :damn:
Not really. Maybe more than a brown water gunboat but not a small cruiser or destroyer. It's just a 100mm gun that fires AT missiles and various other rounds, an autocannon plus three machine guns.

The autocannon and cannon combo make it somewhat unusual, though.
That looks shopped :ohdear:
How could that thing fly? It has no engine and looks far too heavy to be towed.
It was meant to be airdropped from cargo planes.
I bet it can bet the living crap out of Bradleys too.
Yeah, you know how much those Russians love to gamble.
The only thing on the BMP-3 that can touch a Warrior or Bradley is the ATGM, the 100mm only fires HE (at a really fucking slow speed might I add, if you saw one coming you could probably dodge it.) and the autocannon cant penetrate their armour. Out of the three if I had to crew one it would be the Bradley, 2nd Warrior if they gave it some more AT capability like a MILAN or TOW on the side or whatever. The BMPs armour is paper thin compared to the other twos.

Technically Gulf War 1 was a conventional war.
But were both sides equally matched? Not in the slightest.

Heres a diagram pointing out some of the flaws in the BMP-3.

It's a nice vehicle, but its not as good as a Bradley.
I really like the look of the t-90's

So? The French did it with the AMX-30 MBT many years ago. Uncommon, but not unusual at all.
What did the Russians use in Georgia?
