If marijuana is more addictive than caffeine, then I'm in the safe zone. I've been having caffeine for ages and I'm not hooked.
The amount that it takes to kill you is so obscenely huge that, by that logic, thousands of everyday things that humans consume or expose themselves to should be considered poisons.

Please tell me English isn't your first language.
lol do you think dope kills brain cells??
"Myth: Pot kills brain cells
Government experts now admit that pot doesn't kill brain cells.(8) This myth came from a handful of animal experiments in which structural changes (not actual cell death, as is often alleged) were observed in brain cells of animals exposed to high doses of pot. Many critics still cite the notorious monkey studies of Dr. Robert G. Heath, which purported to find brain damage in three monkeys that had been heavily dosed with cannabis.(9) This work was never replicated and has since been discredited by a pair of better controlled, much larger monkey studies, one by Dr. William Slikker of the National Center for Toxicological Research(10) and the other by Charles Rebert and Gordon Pryor of SRI International.(11) Neither found any evidence of physical alteration in the brains of monkeys exposed to daily doses of pot for up to a year. Human studies of heavy users in Jamaica and Costa Rica found no evidence of abnormalities in brain physiology.(12) Even though there is no evidence that pot causes permanent brain damage, users should be aware that persistent deficits in short-term memory have been noted in chronic, heavy marijuana smokers after 6 to 12 weeks of abstinence.(13) It is worth noting that other drugs, including alcohol, are known to cause brain damage."

Turns out that when they forced the monkeys to breathe the smoke they forgot to let oxygen into the face masks as well, d'oh.
They're so concerned with scary, deadly marijuana, they'll kill to prove their point that pot kills.

Nice paradox there.
Nice paradox there.
That's not a paradox.
I can honestly say i'm probably more 'addicted' to my phone than weed.
Keep fighting, it's going to be legalized. Probably not now, probably not in 5 years. . heck maybe even next week, but it will be legalized.
I would probably guess in 2 years at least
If marijuana is more addictive than caffeine, then I'm in the safe zone. I've been having caffeine for ages and I'm not hooked.
If you take as much caffeine as you make it seem, then try going cold turkey for a week. It'll be harder than you think.
(If you have 4+ teas a day.)
Marijuana may not be physically addicting, but I have friends who have trouble going a day without a joint or two.
Marijuana may not be physically addicting, but I have friends who have trouble going a day without a joint or two.
Probably because he has shit he doesn't want to think about, like having you for a friend.
Mary jane gives you balls cancer
I enjoy cannabis ereeeey dayyyyyyyyy
I cba to argue with people about it so I don't usually post in these threads.

I just got 50 dollars of prime bud yesterday and was taking it on a test spin
I don't care who you are Smoking anything is bad for you.
or you could smoke weed like you would a cigarette and not instantly decide that you are incapable of leaving your friends couch.
Honestly, Weed is like an adjective to life. (yeah nice stoner metaphor, i know =P)
You can smoke it and do basically anything. Tedious things are easy to do with weed because you don't get as bored.
Once I weeded my whole lawn after I smoked a joint.
The next day I had time to kill because I thought it would take two days.
Remember, things are only distractions if you let them be. If it says in the book that marijuana gives you an appetite for cats it doesn't mean you should conform to what being high should be and eat cats.
You still have your self control you just need to apply it.
I got really high one time, and when I woke up the next day(I was probably still feeling the effects) I got up and helped my brother change the oil and grease the ball joints on two cars.
[editline]05:31PM[/editline]
I've never done either before.
Here is my stance.
Yes, not everyone knows all the facts about weed.
Yes, it isn't as bad as other drugs.
But if it is legalized, there will be more burn outs in our schools. And I know from alot of the heavy users in my school, that weed can lead to laziness and a drop in grades. That is what I experienced, and even though we cant say all weed smokers are constant users with said laziness problems, there are still MANY SMOKERS who are like this. And I feel the legalization of said drug will just increase the amount of those on the extreme end of the spectrum.
My opinion still stands after reading all the facts.
'Pot makes you lazy' is as credible as 'Alcohol makes you drive drunk'.
It entirely depends on the person. It's little more then a stereotype to say it just makes us couch-locked.
I love how these threads always leave out the studies showing Marijuana's impact on psychosis. Don't ask me to fetch them, I don't give a fuck enough.
Assuming I'm not totally misreading your post, it's a bad idea to do anything mind-altering if you're already psychotic. I don't need a study to tell me that because it's blindingly fucking obvious.
That is what I experienced, and even though we cant say all weed smokers are constant users with said laziness problems, there are still MANY SMOKERS who are like this..
It is what I've dealt with.
With anything out there, things can be abused, like over the counter medication. Legalization would just increase this risk of abuse, even though people still do it.
It would also prevent brand new users from reaching a dangerous level of usage. Keeping it illegal can scare people who never used it to NOT use it. I compare this to the hypothetical situation of lowering the drinking age. Yes, underage people drink all the time, especially in college or social situations. But lowering the age would just allow them to get it easier, and for some, abuse it easier.
A little off topic but since this is the definitive pot thread of the time, how much is a fair price for a gram in Australia? AUD as well.. I don't smoke unless someone offers me some so I don't know about good deals and whatnot.

There is no definite proof of this, and there is in fact evidence to the contrary. Amsterdam has had a decline of pot smoking since it was legalized. Also, many people choose to smoke weed just because its illegal.
Why are we afraid of 'abuse' again? Marijuana is hardly going to cause a social problem. If people go to work high, they might get fired. If people go to school high, they might get busted.
I think it's a huge mistake to pin every social responsibility on the government. I think it should be entirely the parents' responsibility to control their child, as they're the ones that have power over them and are the closest. If parents decide child should be able to smoke weed when they're 15, I think they should be. If that kid has problems because of it, it should be the parents' responsibility to restrict it. In today's society, many parents are frustrated how 'big' their government has become in order to address the 'social ills of society'.

This is true. I thought about drinking and how that is legal. Our society isn't going to hell because of it. Legalizing weed won't necessarily send our society to hell. I simply thought of the fact that if the drug became more accessible, more people would use it. But it can work in the opposite way.
It won't be abused. It would be controlled like alcohol. If you're past a certain limit in your blood stream soon enough you'll probably be charged for it, if not charged for it just for smoking in public.

But people can still abuse controlled substances, like alcohol.
Not anymore abused than before, I meant.
I smoke weed everyday, I love it. It doesn't make you feel bad, doesn't make you wake up in pain. It really helps when i'm bored. I really don't think it should be illegal.
Weed is my anti-boredom. And programming is way more interesting.

It could. But, I also I have no qualms with more people using it.
