Also, if you watched the follow up show on the Friday you would have seen that the numbers were predicted just hours/minutes before the draw was done so he wouldn't have had the numbers for when the advert was filmed. You're also forgetting he wasn't allowed to show the numbers beforehand so if he had the numbers he wouldn't have been able to show them on the advert regardless.

It's a small detail, but I think it favours the "It's not camera trickery" theory.

Derren Brown is really good at what he does. It might be fake but it's damn good entertainment.

Fairly sure it works that he writes Africa down after she tells him, he's not a stupid man at all, far far from it, and if he uses stooges, which I highly doubt, they're thick fucks.

I wanted to save this until the day of the next show, so that it would have less chance of spoiling things for people. I understand I might be completely wrong about all this, make up your own minds. I think that what Derren did with the lottery show was a very clever piece of misdirection. He's telling people that he's going to predict the lottery, everybody knows that it's impossible so they watch very closely. I was trying to work out why he would do a camera trick, when what he's really good at is the psychological tricks he's done in the past. It completely not his style. Find one of the videos of the prediction show, listen and watch Derren more closely. Forget about the lottery balls, it doesn't matter how he did it. You'll notice that he behaves in a similar way to when he's feeding messages to people, as in other tricks. Does anybody remember the trick of the mind episode where he makes somebody choose a red BMX as a birthday present? Everybody is concentrating so much on watching for the camera trick on the left of the screen, that they don't realise he's passing subliminal messages to them over on the right. I haven't quite worked it out entirely, but I'm sure he's doing something. For example in this video at 2:14: [media]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cHZ2mQczkcg[/media] The words “all up over the wall” stood out, plus “feeling a little bit sick”, also “five out of the sick”. The emphasis on illegal may be a coincidence. The trick seems to have worked exactly as he planned (I'm assuming), everybody is still looking the wrong way. [b]TL;DR[/b] I think the lottery stunt was just to get lots of people watching so he could attempt to "program" at least some people for the next show.
