In my opinion, his mistake is in focusing on skin color instead of the ideas that have traditionally been connected with that skin color, but isn't inherently connected with it. He hasn't thought through it enough to separate the two in his head. So he sees keeping white people as equivalent to keeping traditionally white ideologies. If I were to guess, he became disillusioned with some of the craziness on the left, read some stuff that agreed with him about them, continued to push in the opposite direction, and bought into some of the craziness that exists on the right. If he holds onto this ideology for a couple years, then I would be willing to call him a full on white nationalist, though I still wouldn't call him a white supremacist.

I dont think Jons a bad guy, just horribly misguided and only getting further entrenched in these ideas because of how people react to him when he says some of this stuff (whether his concerns are legitimate or not, the outright crusades against the guy for that first stream was fucking ridiculous and almost certainly did nothing but push him away more).
