The only thing that ever bothers me about ponies is the terrible wordplay.
Mostly because it's the only thing from them I ever have to deal with. I don't actively seek these people out and the relaxed ones are pretty chill.
However, hearing stuff like "For Celestia" in a game about World War II tank combat is obnoxious. It's obnoxious because these people perpetuate the bad stereotypes and then hid behind a false veil of love, friendship and "You're just a pony hater."
Do these (specific) individuals not understand that using these shitty puns outside realms with similar people (pony servers, pony forums, etc) is the same as walking in a game of Team Fortress 2 and going:
"HEY EVERYFUR. WOLVES ARE THE BEST FURRIES, FOR REAL. AND IF YOU FURSICUTE ME, YOU'RE JUST A HATER SMOOTHSKIN" (In before Fallout 3 reference-replies.)
Are people incapable of drawing the connection that the MLP fandom is not widely loved or accepted? That doesn't mean it's bad, it just means it's a bad idea to flaunt it in places it does not belong.

People who do that kind of shit are generally people fishing for a reaction. A small percent of the time, they are testing to see if any other people there like ponies. Either way, its stupid.
And the reason for so many pony skins/mods is due to the popularity of ponies in general. The more people who like it, the more chance there are for capable modders to be among them.
