Sup dudes I havent been here in a while, work and life and all that, but you were all talking about the new Jeff Rosenstock so I listened to it and it's gr8 m8.
Don't have as much time for music anymore. sad times.
like, i enjoy new musics and shit but holy fuck posts that are JUST a song link with no text or questions or anything to promote a discussion of that song really annoy me.
what do you want me to do? OH YEAH THAT WAS REALLY GOOD GOT ANY MORE LIKE IT? coz i can fucking do that shit by myself.
and the chances are most people won't even listen to it because why bother when im already listening to something else. i dont wanna pause shit to listen to a link that i have zero frame of reference for. zzzzzzz
I don't think it's one of their best, nor their worst, then again I mostly have experience with Good News and Before The Ship Even Sank. That 6 year hiatus did something to their sound, it's not a bad change but, it sounds more...mature, is a way to put it? There are definitely some standout tracks on there though, like "Lampshades of Fire", "Coyotes", and "Wicked Campaign". "Pistol" on the other hand, kind of falls flat but it's the only song on the album that I can think of does that.
IIRC Brock did say that they have a follow-up on the way as soon as they can get it out, to make up for lost time.
pistol and tiny cities made of ashes are virtually the same thing. they in particular are both way better live than their studio counterparts too funnily enough.
feeling sorry 4 u
yeah im feelin sorry for this fucker who cant actively enjoy anything prior to good news on the same level lol opinion discarded

i just looked up tiny cities and holy shit youre right, but tiny cities is probably better.
i really need to sit down and listen to modest mouse' older stuff sometime.
earlier mm is really cool stuff! a lot of it is a lot darker and more nihilist/existentialist/"negative" than good news onward so I totally get why a lot of people don't like it but musically it can be pretty wonderful. Lonesome Crowded West is probably my favorite recording in existence for personal reasons but they had some pretty kickass instrumentation even then lol
Check out the everywhere and his nasty parlour tricks first, basically the bridge gap between then and there if you haven't heard it yet
i really like 15-20 minute EPs right now. Very easy to listen to.
