i am completely out of touch with music these days, i'm still jamming to aiden in 2015 (tho they released a new album a month or so ago, pretty baffling; still gotta listen to it)
I might get shit for this but Melanie Martinez's Cry Baby is honestly one of the more unique albums I've listened to this year, and that isn't exactly a huge list but I really like the theme. It's a concept album that revolves around the character of "Cry Baby", a personification of the artist's emotional troubles that she's gone through and the like. It uses all sorts of "child-like" imagery as a metaphor for the overall darker themes in the album ("Dollhouse" where a seemingly perfect family is actually the complete opposite, "Tag, You're It" which is about sexual assault which uses the game of "Tag" as a metaphor"). It is most definitely pop music, but it's pop with a message of...sorts. For those interested, I highly recommend reading the storybook she put out before listening to the album, it'll give you an idea of what you're in for. i personally don't care for any meaning when it comes to enjoying music as a form of entertainment. i just want to have fun and sing along or dance (etc.) if you approach music as art then sure it's added value (depending on the person doing the listening) but it's not for me

I was just sharing because I found the album and its themes interesting, but the music is really good if you have a tolerance for pop/an open mind. I prefer a mix of both, getting into the music and enjoying it then later looking at the meaning makes me appreciate some songs even more than I had before.
I have to make a presentation video for a class and need some royalty-free music. Don't care if it's classy, fun, or outrageous, I'll take all suggestions as long as it is not copyrighted.
