my friend's stepdad knows a lot about music. he has a large collection of records at his farm, he plays the drums and you can mention like any band and he'll tell you about them and artists similar to them.
i get a lot of new music from him just by talking about bands i like.

i know there was discussion about panic at the disco a few pages back but a friend got me into them a month or two ago and to those who actually listen to em,

theres a few tracks on ices and virtues i like, its the last album they've made that sounds like panic at the disco. listening through vices and virtues you can hear a lot of their first album, with flashier instrumentals and more production to create a bigger sound.
with too to live, too rare to die urie took the sound in a total different direction. they lost the weird pop punk sound they had, dropping most of the instruments and replacing their odd lyrics with straight forward pop lyrics. you don't hear anything like accordion, piano or trumpets. the only 2 tracks on this album that sound remotely like panic are casual affair and collar.
from the singles off of death of a bachelor it sounds like urie is taking it back in the right direction with more of a vices and virtues sound and LA devotee actually sounds reminiscent of their first album, even if it is only slightly.
yeah i dont mind the stuff that ive heard off of death of a bachelor.
except emperor's new clothes, i kinda feel like it's trying too hard or something. victorious is great tho.

one thing might surprise y'all.. but i've greatly neglected reggae. It's something I really ought to be expert in but I have to admit I feel so alien to reggae it's sad... Even though a handful of albums are my absolute favourites, the genre as a whole is complex and much more meaningful than I think it is.

it's only sad because every time I've discovered a hidden reggae gem, I've enjoyed it so much then I forget about it. :(
