How do you guys find out about new albums from bands you like or albums from artists of bands you like? Just found out today that Tyler Carter released an EP.
I generally don't bother keeping up with it until I decide to listen to a band again or something. I'll have a quick check for anything new and move on. Though I thnk RYM has a nice "upcoming release" system but I'm yet to see if that is actually reliable over a larger sample. [editline]11th February 2015[/editline]
All I know about the Grammys is that this happened (I'm ebentually, just to add context) I'm still laughing [editline]10th February 2015[/editline] should I tell him that Death Grips did it first or
Did he really just compare Beyonce losing Best Album to Ed Sheeran winning a Most Influential Black Artist? "Beck was popular in the 90's ain't nobody gave a fuck about them since" lel
honestly I find out all of my music news through other people telling me about it
I find new music releases through reddit - indieheads, hiphopheads, electronicmusic, futurebeats, etc. Plenty of subreddits for specific interests. I'm subscribed to stuff as small as SaveMoneyCrew just to hear about Chance the Rapper and co. Easy to catch new releases like that. I follow every artist I like on Soundcloud, too - most new releases are thrown up there, so it helps. There's a small selection of small, not-hugely-popular indie bands that I follow on Twitter and Facebook (PHOX is a good example), so I hear about their new stuff from that social media.
So i ended up shelling out $34 to go to some "purple haze" mini festival at the end of my universities orientation week. It's filled with Australian acts, so i'm pretty clueless of what i've got myself into. Art vs. Science is probably the biggest act, then it's some weird Melbourne rapper call Allday, some band called British India, although British India is a sick name for a band, someone called Safia, and then some local bands. Anyone know literally anything about any of these?
British India are generic, but good. [editline]11th February 2015[/editline] Put on a decent show too, was p good when i saw them but i was pretty bombed so take that with a grain of salt
If all goes to plan i'll be pretty bombed too.
Hey, anyone want to help me make a mixtape for valentines day ? I've been looking at genre radios, artist explorer and surfed soundcloud for a few hours now, but I'm stuck. she likes Lucy Rose, Beirut, Woodkid, Alt-J and Animal Collective. Right now, however, she's in a pop-electronic mood wthat has songs with great hooks, and this sound: https://soundcloud.com/float-fall/someday Any suggestions? [editline]11th February 2015[/editline] Generally any indie electronics songs that stick out.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Triple_J_Hottest_100,_2014 half the stuff on there
it wasnt cheap but I got tickets to see the foo fighters in 2 weeks time, the day after that Im seeing fall out boy. should be a good week.
Aww fuck I'm beyond jealous. Dave Grohl apparently has an immense stage presence
also rise against is opening for foo. Opening bands for fall out boy are shite though.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Triple_J_Hottest_100,_2014 half the stuff on there
Thanks for the suggestion, but I just finished listening through most of the list, and I didn't find anything. Okay, can anyone suggest a song where the singer is female and has a very different and unique, maybe even weird voice?
How is "Uptown Funk" by Mark Ronson? Are we past Bruno Mars getting stabbed in the esophagus?
I dont understand what this post is trying to say but that song owns hard
whats the phrase?
ooh nah nah whats the phrase
I dont understand what this post is trying to say but that song owns hard
Wait... Just realised...It's.. An odd future reference.. In 2015.... Unreal
Wait... Just realised...It's.. An odd future reference.. In 2015.... Unreal
they're still kinda relevant, Mike G and Domo dropped albums, not to mention earl is writing the next album [editline]12th February 2015[/editline] although Yonkers references are still dumb because goblin is kinda shitty and the bandwagon era of Odd Future was trash in general
they still exist but they're pretty much totally irrelevant except Frank Ocean since he's on a whole other level compared to the rest (and has always came off as pretty detached from the group so he's riding on his own merits and not OF merit u get me?) and his second album's been pretty highly anticipated for a good couple years now. Earl too probably... but who cares abt the rest its not 2011 any more. The hype train's gone and left a while ago.
Frank ocean really hasn't been part of the group since the 2nd OF tape anyway so yeah, Earl will still get attention and tbh I only listened to them after the hype had died so I never saw them as a bandwagon group you feel me? Like Wolf is a really solid album and so is Blackendwhite and the 2nd OF tape is too. Domo and Hodgy have futures too but Tyler is gonna be gone after his next/last project so whatevs. [editline]12th February 2015[/editline] I hope that the Sadboys and GTBSG don't become the next odd future because Lean is starting to get serious and GTB have been consistently good. Ecco2k is finally dropping a mixtape and Bladee got a mixtape and an album this year but with Thaiboygoon getting deported I don't know what their future is
forever laughing at that white kid who got a DIY coat-hanger OFWGKTA tattoo in the high school parking lot my sophomore year
i dont wanna
well you gotta [editline]12th February 2015[/editline]
forever laughing at that white kid who got a DIY coat-hanger OFWGKTA tattoo in the high school parking lot my sophomore year
anyone who gets a tattoo because of a trend is not really a forward thinking individual. Unless they're trashed on drink and drugs when they decide to get it. [editline]12th February 2015[/editline] really getting into my music review tumbrl guys its helped me a lot through my mental health issues. its p good i recommend you all doing it because i just listen to different shit all the time now.
So yesterday morning at work the bartender was like. "Hey, have you ever heard of this band 'Against Me'?? 'Cause I just won tickets from the radio and the gf no want go." RAGED. Against Me isn't my favorite but I gotta admit they sound great live. There were also stage dives. Everyone dropped me the second time and I think I maybe broke my elbow. [editline]12th February 2015[/editline] Also tfw no one at the show compliments your Death Grips shirt....
Against Me isn't my style of music really, but I think Laura Jane Grace is a fantastic person
Also tfw no one at the show compliments your Death Grips shirt....
I talked to a random guy in the grocery store because he was wearing the same Melt-Banana shirt that I own. You'll get your chance eventually
Anyone know of any music like Open by Rhye? https://soundcloud.com/rhyemusic/rhye-open
