Lol parkway drive is one of the most cliche derivative metalcore bands but also why are we talking about parkway drive in 2016
fuk u man they're our 2000's accadacca
Yeah, im enjoying The life of Pablo a lot. Some solid tunes on it.
bear in mind these are last minute added "bonus tracks"
what makes them "bonus" when they're part of the original list, and why it matter if it's last minute. bob dylan recorded one of his best albums then a week before release redid half the tracks.
what makes them "bonus" when they're part of the original list, and why it matter if it's last minute. bob dylan recorded one of his best albums then a week before release redid half the tracks.
the fact that kanye himself calls 30 hours a bonus track, and it's p much in the middle of the album, this album isn't crafted or well-thought, it's a collection of good songs i see your point but im rly disappointed in kanye, ain't no comparing his impulsive self to dylan, this doesn't hold up to his standard, i dont mean sonically at all but conceptually. it doesn't feel like an achieved body of work, it's very all over the place and messy. obviously there was some thoughts put into real friends & wolves being the outro, he just seemingly randomly added the other tracks, ruining a lot of cohesion, which is a shame because, on the other hand, waves is nicely added. after madison square garden a lot of people were like "that's it?" and shunned the album for being short and not that impressive (it wasn't -that- short), i feel like he added a lot of tracks to please a fanbase. no hate though i still feel like they're really great songs, ultra light beams is amazing and some moments on this lp are really great, production-wise it's amazing, but kanye opens a lot of doors sonically and thematically and doesn't really walk in the many rooms he let us watch from a distance, and to me it feels like unachieved, in a way i couldn't feel for his previous albums.
still not gonna get over how fucking AWFUL the Kanye album cover is tbh
it's a grower
regardless of what kanye says, the album is what it is. "bonus" tracks are for deluxe editions and I don't think he released that. i think i'll give it a couple of months to simmer then make final assumptions, my initial impressions always get muddled up this early on.
I don't listen to Kanye in a good couple years now, but seeing a whole page arguing about whether or not it is bloody awful or not half bad I'm thinking about giving it a try. Although I'm pretty sure it can't possibly be a masterpiece beforehand.
i think i'll give it a couple of months to simmer then make final assumptions, my initial impressions always get muddled up this early on.
same tbh, I'm just not very used in being disappointed by kanye, i'm sure i'll keep coming back to it and find the satisfying experience ive found in his previous work at some point [editline]15th February 2016[/editline]
I don't listen to Kanye in a good couple years now, but seeing a whole page arguing about whether or not it is bloody awful or not half bad I'm thinking about giving it a try. good news everyone I'm not in jail
I don't believe you.

FUCK THE GRAMMYS
don't know if anyone here listens to Girl Talk but https://twitter.com/girltalk/status/699419162402095104 He's most likely working on a new album, its been a long 6 years. If you don't know who he is, hes a pretty fucking amazing mashup artist. All day is free if you wanna check him out, as well as every album being on youtube/spotify. Not a huge fan of mash up, but Gregg Gillis is an exception.
FUCK THE GRAMMYS
do you really actually give a fuck what the voters of the grammys think? seriously any person with a shred of musical sense knows they're 100% wank and just ignores them.
nah, maybe I shouldn't have type it in all caps :v:. Every music site I went to didn't seem safe from it. Though I still am salty about aoty.
Can someone here please explain Kanye to me? Because he seems legitimately mentally unstable, extremely self-absorbed, and very, very stupid. I'm not totally unfamiliar with his music, but I'm more of a fan of the Run-DMC and Wu-Tang Clan style of rap (I know those are different on a granular level.) He just doesn't appeal to me as a musician, and his persona makes it hard for me to appreciate him as anything else.

He just doesn't appeal to me as a musician, and his persona makes it hard for me to appreciate him as a celebrity.
From another thread:
Separate the person from the artist, yo. A lot of people in the hip hop community would agree that Kanye's albums are pretty important to the hip hop genre as a whole. After all, he stopped mainstream gangster rap dead on its tracks when he released The College Dropout back in 2004. You can call him an arrogant, egoist, asshole, I don't care, but thinking he's a "overblown pop artist" just because of his celebrity status just makes you bias against his music, assuming its just "overproduced crap for the masses." I mean, look at Late Registration, Graduation, 808s, and MBDTF and see how much praised and influence it had in the rap scene in the 2000s and 2010s. Just dismissing those facts just makes you pretentious as Kanye himself.
Give Kanye's music a chance. I recommend starting with Late Registration or MBDTF and working your way there. If you want to, listen to Yeezus (not really a big fan) and his just released TLOP last. If you just want R&B: 808s and Heartbreaks.
I forgot that riff raff existed
I liked his performance in Spring Breakers.
tbh, I actually did shed tears on my first listen of Pablo during, chances verse on Ultralight Beam, the hook on father stretch my hands, and waves. I stayed up every night on the 'speculated' dates of the release for a year, it was like a release for me. not like bawling though, just like a few tears.
