ppl have been saying that since hurley and people will be saying that two weezer albums after this one.
Hurley didn't get the kind of hype EWBAITE got after release, in fact the latter scored a letter grade higher on Metacritic and even Pitchfork said it was a good album. They made some stupid mistakes last decade and now it's cool to hate them, but I'm not being delusional here for recognizing that they've got their heads out of their asses.

New Weezer song. Their new album is shaping up to be excellent, with this song sounding like a Blue Album B-Side (sounds a lot like Suzanne) and the same could be said for "Do You Wanna Get High?" sounding like Pinkerton. The other two they've shown, "Thank God For Girls" and "King of the World" are innovative in a positive direction for once.
Between this and their last album, most folks are agreeing that Weezer is a good rock band again.
Most of these new Weezer singles are not that great. "Thank God for Girls" is terrible. "Do You Wanna Get High?" is probably the best single so far.
yo FUCK hip-hop!!
A friend of mine was at a metal concert, and they had "decorated" the stage with decapitated sheep heads. She had taken one and posed with it on instagram, and the next day the news said that people had reported to the police that there was a sheep head just lying on a bridge, freaking people out. :v:
Any of you like Miles Davis' work from 1972-1975? (On The Corner, In Concert, Dark Magus, Big Fun, Get Up With It, Agharta, Pangaea)

Hey, would anyone in here consider themselves or know anyone who you would consider an "Expert Listener" of Vaporwave? I'm conducting some research and I'm hoping to get some possible interviews set up, or at least a list of questions concerning what listening to Vaporwave entails,
thanks.

On the subject of weezer, I really like this little mix up they did with with MGMT and Lady Gaga's song. Real guilty pleasure of mine.

this isn't bad though
My dad's looking for a service to download a few hundred songs through. iTunes is [del]garbage[/del] expensive for that many songs and he's got an Android phone now, and Spotify Premium, as I understand it, doesn't allow you to just download DRM-free music files, so I'm out of ideas. He found eMusic and asked me to look into it, but it has a lot of negative reviews, almost all of which complain about being scammed after using the free trial and being automatically charged for the monthly subscription, or not being able to cancel their subscription at all. If anyone has any experience with eMusic I'd like to hear it.
More importantly, if anyone could point me somewhere you can download songs for significantly cheaper than $1 per song (not warez), it'd be greatly appreciated. Sorry if this isn't appropriate for the thread, I didn't want to open a new one just to ask this.

speaking of the strokes, over a month ago the guitarist's favourite guitar went missing while being shipped, people helped him hunt it down and he finally got it back. if my guitar got lost in shipping i'd just write it off as gone forever.

Oh yeah, I'm in for an interesting time. But by 'expert listener' i mean, someone who has listened to a lot, knows subgenres, or generally has an opinion on what vaporwave is/means/has.
I think this will make a really interesting paper topic, since its a genre of music that is so new and so fucking weird.
pff all this vaporwave malarkay, there's nothing quite like rich creamy smooth soul:
God, The Heavy's new album is already turning out fucking awesome.

Sade's originally from my hometown. I think the only musically relevant people to come out of there are her and the guy from Interpol

One of the reasons that it's so weird is that it's a genre that is so heavily reliant upon the aesthetic. Most people will listen to Macintosh Plus once, then go and reblog a thousand pictures of windows 98 desktops. Even stuff like punk and black metal doesn't have it at that level, and I think it's the rise of stuff like Tumblr which is for all intents and purposes like modern day zine culture(there is still zine culture but Tumblr is more mainstream so I consider Tumblr the victor in that sense). There are people who love vaporwave who have literally never listened to any it. And I actually find it really cool that something which initially started out as a bit of relatively silly internet dickery has reached as far as it has.
I've listened to a fair bit of Vaporwave over the years. Like you, I was moreso fascinated by the concept of it than I ever was properly in love with the genre. I got to into ocean grunge for the same reason, though that was never as popular. I'd be happy to answer some questions to the best of my ability over PM or something.
