also new Yung Lean was disappointing, Yung Gud's mixtape was lame, Thaiboygoon has never been that great and ECCO2K hasn't dropped anything yet R.I.P. sadboys long live Gravity Boys
Lately I've mostly listened to video game soundtracks.
And same old stuff as usual.
Haxan cloak on the new Bjork gonna be sweet.
My bet on next ban is Ak'z
u crazy m8..
and now that this thread is now public I'll have to dial down my oriental opinions.
im listening to the new Turnstile record and it fucking sucks lmao I can't wait for this "kids playing 90s alt rock but pretending they're a hardcore band" trend to go away, one of the absolute worst punk trends in recent years

there'll be a worse trend turn up soonn tho like it always happens. trends trends trends are always shitty people trying to capitalise on the popular. they mostly suck aside from the ones who are like, just doing it because they dont give a fuck what people think about their music and make it because they want to
like that trip-hop explosion after the bristol sound hit the radios gaaawdd,
ur right, but 90s alt rock is some of the most boring music in the world unless it's doing something different but these revival bands just sound like they're from 1992 and for some reason people think it's Fresh New Music

wow this is actually not good at all
can't wait for post-grunge revival
Emo revival is in full swing tho and that's cool
Discovered this fantastic group today:
I cannot fucking get enough of them.
Full studio versions of their music can be found on spotify and bancamp if you fancy supporting them.

technically it is new music, maybe not fresh tho, but yeah i see ur point. idk fully tbh coz i havent really explored alt rock all that much yet.
Should I go with the DG9 or the Gemini, the price is basically the same i got the dg9 to go down to 100

I'm a beginner and i'm meeting with one of them on sat, i've emailed both and will test the guitars out before hand with my guitar playing brother. I like the look of the DG9, but I hear the Gemini is very reliable

or maybe im not used to working 7 and a half hour days yet so the exhaustion makes it funnier
does anyone here listen to Young Fathers? I've been catching up on 2014 releases I missed and holy fucking shit, DEAD is one of the best albums I've heard all year. It's fucking phenomenal. Unlike anything else I've ever heard. Death Grips and clipping experiment with hip hop by merging it with a wall of noise, but Young Fathers manages to mix hip-hop with pop and indie and industrial and a unique african influence and a dozen other genres and it's still catchy and interesting. They have unconventional song structure that makes their songs sound totally unique.
Seriously, listen to Young Fathers - it's some of the best music I heard last year.

Also, 2015 is going to be as amazing as 2013 for music. 2014 was largely a year for small artists - 2015 has powerhouses releasing albums again, plus some great smaller artist releases planned.
These are the album I'm absolutely going to get next year. Alphabetical order, except yeezy at #1 for obvious reasons:
Kanye West - TBD
Action Bronson - Mr. Wonderful
Adele - 25
AlunaGeorge - TBD
A$AP Rocky - TBD
BADBADNOTGOOD and Ghostface Killah - Sour Soul
Band of Horses - TBD
Big Sean - TBD
Bjork - TBD
Chance the Rapper & The Social Experiment - Surf
The Decemberists - What a Terrible World, What a Beautiful World
Death Cab for Cutie - Kintsugi
Death Grips - the powers that b
Drake - Views from the 6
Earl Sweatshirt - TBD
Father John Misty - I Love You, Honeybear
Frank Ocean - TBD
Grimes - TBD
Hudson Mohawke - TBD
James Blake - Radio Silence
Jamie xx - TBD
Jay Rock - TBD
Kendrick Lamar - TBD
Kid Cudi - Man on the Moon III (fuck yessss)
Macklemore & Ryan Lewis - TBD
Mac Miller - TBD

Purity Ring - TBD
Pusha T - King Push
Radiohead - TBD
Run the Jewels - Run the Jewels 3, Meow the Jewels
Tame Impala - TBD
Travi$ Scott - Rodeo
Twin Shadow - Eclipse
Vince Staples - TBD
Most of the "TBDs" are rumored or not officially announced, but most of them seem likely.
With Adele, Kanye, and Drake on the stage again - holy fuck, this'll be an enormous year after the pathetic slump that was 2014. Adele's guaranteed at least double plat, if she doesn't manage to trump 21 and go diamond again.
2014 sure was a slump with all that swans and xiu xiu coming out
2014 sure was a slump with all that swans and xiu xiu coming out
It wasn't a terrible year, but compared to 2013 or the lineup for 2015 it's pretty weak, especially in huge mainstream releases. I mean, the Frozen soundtrack was the best-selling album of the year. That's not very impressive for music sales, especially when you consider that Taylor Swift was the only platinum artist of the entire year. Adele went double plat, sold 9 million in just over a year, and has since gone diamond.
The smaller groups and indie releases were excellent, though - sales were just dismally low. Hip-hop was noticeably lacking this year, too, especially in album sales. Drake got a grammy nomination from a free single off soundcloud, there wasn't a whole lot of album material coming out.
I pay a lot of attention to popular music and sales numbers and the most exciting part of 2014 was when J. Cole managed to sell some 370k first week and that wasn't even 2 months ago.

To be fair it was not as good a year as 2012 or 2013
2012 was such a damn good year for music
To be fair it was not as good a year as 2012 or 2013
2012 was such a damn good year for music
2012 and 2013 were phenomenal years. 2014 is shit in comparison:
01. Frozen, Soundtrack (2014 soundtrack)
02. Beyoncé, Beyonce (2013)
03. 1989, Taylor Swift (2014)
04. Midnight Memories, One Direction (2014)
05. The Marshall Mathers LP 2, Eminem (2013)
06. Pure Heroine, Lorde (2013)
07. Crash My Party, Luke Bryan (2013)
08. PRISM, Katy Perry (2013)
09. Blame It All On My Roots: Five Decades of Influence, Garth Brooks (2013 box set)
10. Here's to the Good Times, Florida Georgia Line (2013)
Seriously. There are two non-soundtrack albums in the top 10 that were actually released this year - the rest were released last year. Only the top 3 broke the 1 million mark - the data's from Dec 9th and outdated, because Taylor Swift overtook Beyonce. That's still a terrible-ass year. Compare that 2013:
01. Justin Timberlake, The 20/20 Experience (2,427,000)
02. Eminem, The Marshall Mathers LP 2 (1,727,000)
03. Luke Bryan, Crash My Party (1,521,000)
04. Imagine Dragons, Night Visions (1,402,000)
05. Bruno Mars, Unorthodox Jukebox (1,399,000)
06. Florida Georgia Line, Here's to the Good Times (1,350,000)
07. Drake, Nothing Was the Same (1,344,000)
08. Beyoncé, Beyoncé (1,301,000)
09. Blake Shelton, Based on a True Story (1,109,000)
10. JAY Z, Magna Carta... Holy Grail (1,099,000)
Every single top 10 album sold over a million by the end of the year. All of them. 9 of them were released in 2013 - Bruno Mars was the only 2012 album.
Seriously, when it came to popular music, 2014 was like sitting in a desert watching tumbleweed. 2012 and 2013 were like partying in Times Square. It was a miserable year (in the US), even when you consider that the RIAA started counting streams into purchase numbers this year.
I really hope that 2015 is flooded with music. 2014 was weak as shit when it came to popular music.
2016 is going to be a great year for music, the new gorillaz album is coming out then. they're basically the only band which i consistently like. i cant think of any songs that i skip over by them (not including the album The Fall)
