not another 60 bull of heaven albums... why when you can have specialist Scandinavian prog
i finished bull of heaven ages ago, now i'm just listening to my backlog of assorted albums i've heard bits and pieces of and have gained interest in speaking of which, here's 2 that i've listened to today and really enjoyed: i love prog and all, but there's so much more weird music out there i want to listen to as well
They're dead after Jilted.
Yeah, but that doesn't mean their later stuff is absolute shit, it's just that it is nearly impossible to beat this: Still have to give their new album a listen though. Going in with low expectations which means it'll be hard to disappoint.
Gonna be agood two weeks for me in two weeks time. The Ocean gig with special guest camper_joseph then a fucking atmospheric metal festival a week later in hobart. christ im keen
i love prog and all, but there's so much more weird music out there i want to listen to as well
speaking of...what were your favorite Stephen O'Malley albums? I've heard a lot of what Sunn O))) and Burning Witch did, but I'm curious to see if any of his solo work is worth it

Cool, cool stuff. Reminds me of Tangerine Dream. I think I have some Khanate and Lotus Eaters in my folder. Gotta check those out. And I have a friend who's really into AEthenor.
HaQuita! I'm going to see Anglagard this Saturday! Gonna be so fucking good m8.
I wish I lived closer to London, I live in a tiny seaside town, there's a direct train but the last one back here is at 11 so basically any decent gig is a no

Late of the pier follow up please Unrelated, I listened to a burzum album earlier and 25 minutes of needless ambient shit and nazi ideology aside, I liked it, any black metal recs? Dl'ed sunbather because it seemed obvious
I like this list.
i like you

Dl'ed sunbather because it seemed obvious
fuck man wheres uberwarrior when we need him, that guy is a fountain of black metal recs. all i can offer is wovles in the throne room, anaal nathrakh, skeletonwitch and solstafir if everyones good with me stretching definitions. wolves and solstafir are really atmospheric stuff. skeletonwitch is some good old blacknroll and anaal nathrakh are like grindcore/black or some shit [editline]8th April 2015[/editline] been reppin this song lately tho go fiddy [editline]8th April 2015[/editline] idk tho black metal is really varied. especially if u go into the waves of the norwegian stuff. which is pretty raw quality stuff [editline]8th April 2015[/editline] [img_thumb]http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-qdfoWZ5978w/UO4R9eu7eNI/AAAAAAAAEj0/uuyYTHN4KqM/s1600/1357595429141.png[/img_thumb] here. try that
It's a little early to draw final conclusions, but I'm really bummed by the new Halestorm album. They used to be a really fucking good, old-school hard rock band. I don't know what to think of this slow-tempo faux-bluesy shit. They've gone from this: To this: ' I mean...the fuck happened? Yeah, the dumb cock rock angle was always a little annoying, but at least it was incorporated into some good songs and musicianship. Now we've got a whole album of slow, swaggering singsongy shit with some Nickleback DNA. What a disappointment from one of the few straight-up rock bands of recent years.
The only BM I really listen to, if you can even call it BM at all, is Kvelertak I'd recommend it if you want to listen to the most fun metal you'll ever hear in your life
I think it's the lyrics in their native tongue. It just makes it seem all that more insane.
Not to mention every single song on their self-titled has a catchy hook of some kind. I can't listen to it without having at least one song stuck in my head the rest of the day.
more metal bands should use hooks, it'd make the scene a lot more interesting (imo)
Depends on the subgenre. Hooks wouldn't really work well in doom metal
Depends on the subgenre. Hooks wouldn't really work well in doom metal
you're defonitely right but I was mostly refering to thiusands bands that try to appeal to the mainstream (of the scene) by copying bands that were in their prime 30 years ago
Can't believe it's taking so long for Last Fm to sort out the scrobbler's refusal to work with iTunes.
as much as i love last fm i hate it
As part of a birthday present, I just purchased $55 worth of music off amazon. I bought myself Pablo Honey by Radiohead, Let Go by Nada Surf, The Weight is a Gift also by Nada Surf, Spending Time on the Borderline by Ozma, and Weezer's Red Album, along with a bunch of Weezer B-sides and unreleased tracks. Had to spend more than 4 hours to hear it all, and I'm totally stoked. This is probably the best set of purchases I could have made at the moment. As a huge Weezer fan, I really ought to make a flowchart for people who enjoyed the Blue Album branch out into other albums and bands. edit: and...[t]http://i.imgur.com/0ZU1i7O.png[/t]
