What are some good hiphop albums to start with?
childish gambino, every album is chill. culdesac is the hardest to get into tho. because the internet and camp are very chill and have jams that go hard. EP is v. catchy

If you wanted to give him a good recommendation of more vanilla, less polarizing hip-hop, you should start with OG Maco, then go to iLoveMakonnen, Death Grips, Young Thug, Rich Homie Quan, Rich Gang, clipping, and stuff like that - way more likely to enjoy that stuff for a hip-hop newbie
CG is enjoyable even for people that don't dig hip-hop tho, I've seen him live twice and the crowd is so diverse it's great. everything from metalheads with full sleeves to big coloured dudes getting wild to every song

I saw him at ACL and I was next to a couple 40-year-old guys who came to see Outkast and they liked him. Speaking of, holy shit Outkast was one of the best performances I think I've ever seen. Bombs Over Baghdad is the most hype intro song I've ever seen - the show kicked off in like half a second and didn't let up.
been listening to a shitload of CH recently camp is so good, also listening to drake too been trying to get into more hip hop

Loads of people just think I'm joking when I whip out the Death Grips after they ask for new music.
been trying to get into more hip hop
MF Doom is appparently really good. All I've listened from him is his collab with Jneiro Jarel but it's really good. Also Pete Rock, J Dilla and Nujabes for instrumental goodness.
cheers bro, i took note of them and when i get access to decent internet i'll download em
A lot of hip hop producers go unnoticed a fair bit. MCs get all the fame.
shit's bumpin
I didnt think I'd like the new D'Angelo because im not a big fan of neo-soul stuff like that but holy shit is that album dope I've listened to it so many times now. Definitely a highlight of 2014
so D'Angelo's Black Messiah is the most chill album of 2014 It's addictive
that album is fucking great. can't wait to see him live. [editline]22nd January 2015[/editline]
I didnt think I'd like the new D'Angelo because im not a big fan of neo-soul stuff like that but holy shit is that album dope I've listened to it so many times now.
I've worked out my problem with the guy, and for me it feels like for every line he has that's vaguely clever, there's 4 or so that are just terrible
I just don't like how he thinks Hip Hop has to be all about punchlines. He probably gets that from being a comedian/singer
shit's bumpin
I'm sorry and I hate to be so blunt but this is awful the female feature was atrocious, and the guy's monotone vocals were just boring and cringe-worthy... Might I just add that the production was probably done in 5 minutes or less What the hell are these lyrics, too
wtf fall out boy released a new album. how did i not find out about this?
I just don't like how he thinks Hip Hop has to be all about punchlines. He probably gets that from being a comedian/singer
He's toned down punchlines a ton since Camp or EP - Because the Internet was way more thematic than punchlines, and Kauai was pretty lax on the punchlines. STN MTN was a return to form with a ton of punchlines and I didn't like it much because of that. I love when CG sings and does pop music. Kauai is such a great EP because of that. Because the Internet is phenomenal, too, because it's darker and the punchlines are less "HA GET IT" than in his older stuff.

Anyone here a fan of Carpenter Brut? He put out a new album this week. It's awesome.
wtf fall out boy released a new album. how did i not find out about this?
Decided to listen to the new album on a whim, remember a girl fawning over them back in the 8th grade. I thought people always said Fall Out Boy were "emo"? The songs I listened to so far aren't exactly what I would call emo/punk. More like.. pop or something. Not very good at defining genres. I actually thought some of the songs from the album that came before it to be pretty decent. Or was that their older stuff that had that weird looking emo kid in the band? Edit: By the looks if it, that seems to be the case.
Fall Out Boy took a step away from emo and towards pop ages ago man, get with the times. Emo for posterity
the new FoB has some really solid jams
Decided to listen to the new album on a whim, remember a girl fawning over them back in the 8th grade. Anyone else here a Jai Paul fan? It's a rough life, but the 2 tracks and leaked album that came from him are some of the best songs of this decade so far.
the new FoB has some really solid jams the emo kid is still in the band except he's a grown ass dude now
as pop rock their newer stuff isnt bad, but whenever i hear it it just reminds me of their earlier stuff and i usually go back and listen to that. and save rock and roll > american beauty / american psycho
