CG is too polarizing, lots of people think he's corny and stuff. If you wanted to give him a good recommendation of more vanilla, less polarizing hip-hop, you should start with OG Maco, then go to iLoveMakonnen, Death Grips, Young Thug, Rich Homie Quan, Rich Gang, clipping, and stuff like that - way more likely to enjoy that stuff for a hip-hop newbie

I agree, I was just making a joke - CG's super accessible. I saw him at ACL and I was next to a couple 40-year-old guys who came to see Outkast and they liked him.
Speaking of, holy shit Outkast was one of the best performances I think I've ever seen. Bombs Over Baghdad is the most hype intro song I've ever seen - the show kicked off in like half a second and didn't let up.

Death Grips are just as polarizing as Gambino.
Loads of people just think I'm joking when I whip out the Death Grips after they ask for new music.

MF Doom is appparently really good. All I've listened from him is his collab with Jneiro Jarel but it's really good. Also Pete Rock, J Dilla and Nujabes for instrumental goodness.

I've worked out my problem with the guy, and for me it feels like for every line he has that's vaguely clever, there's 4 or so that are just terrible

I just don't like how he thinks Hip Hop has to be all about punchlines. He probably gets that from being a comedian/singer

the female feature was atrocious, and the guy's monotone vocals were just boring and cringe-worthy...

He's toned down punchlines a ton since Camp or EP - Because the Internet was way more thematic than punchlines, and Kauai was pretty lax on the punchlines. STN MTN was a return to form with a ton of punchlines and I didn't like it much because of that.
I love when CG sings and does pop music. Kauai is such a great EP because of that. Because the Internet is phenomenal, too, because it's darker and the punchlines are less "HA GET IT" than in his older stuff.

it sounds like someone heard a clipping song and went "heavy beats, eerieness, weird lyrics, ok" and made this travesty
the vocals have no energy and the beat was good for about a minute before it got annoyingly repetitive

Decided to listen to the new album on a whim, remember a girl fawning over them back in the 8th grade. I thought people always said Fall Out Boy were "emo"? The songs I listened to so far aren't exactly what I would call emo/punk. More like.. pop or something. Not very good at defining genres. I actually thought some of the songs from the album that came before it to be pretty decent. Or was that their older stuff that had that weird looking emo kid in the band?

the emo kid is still in the band except he's a grown ass dude now
Anyone else here a Jai Paul fan? It's a rough life, but the 2 tracks and leaked album that came from him are some of the best songs of this decade so far.

as pop rock their newer stuff isnt bad, but whenever i hear it it just reminds me of their earlier stuff and i usually go back and listen to that.
