do you think this is some kind of goddamn joke I was basically planning to work backwards from a couple 3rd wave bands and try and find my way back to roots reggae. Reggae and ska have been genres I was interested in for a while (mainly 2 tone though tbh), and the sudden taste for this generic ska band has set me on course. After spending a lot of time just listening to lots of 2000s music and experimental music, with the odd old band thrown in, I've finally started getting interested in the evolution of genres, so I'm gonna start with ska. Trying to identify influences is great fun.
have you heard The Cat Empire? v good band from Australia that has a big ska influence
thas good 2 tone
I think MC Ride would be a happier guy if he did ska instead.
i could never listen to a happy mc ride i need my fix of screaming incoherent homeless people
i got a Madness album for christmas when I was like 8 or something welcome to the house of motherfucking fun
have you heard The Cat Empire? v good band from Australia that has a big ska influence
A long time ago. I'm gonna get on that now. As well as The Specials and The Beat. The Cat Empire are already nostalgic, and this is my first time listening to them. I feel like I should be playing Tony Hawk's. edit: Some of these Cat Empire tracks sound so much like Coldplay.
Yeah but look at em now. They're still touring constantly and selling out shows. I'd kill to be Aaron Barrett
i still can't believe reel big fish has been making music for longer than i have been alive
[t]https://i.imgur.com/XjMtRlD.png[/t] september 16 what the fuck it's not even august yet
Is this some kind of artist gimmick where they ship it to you via 60 different countries?
Melvins are one of my favorite bands, I wouldn't call them "grunge" though
They're unquestionably stoner rock though.
Mix of both more or less and depending on what album.
Anyone going to Hard Summer this weekend?
I always thought of Melvins as a sludge band
The Wonder Years keep getting sadder and sadder every album
heard it earlier today and was damn impressed their other single was 10/10 as well
http://www.the-hand.net/ These dudes just released a 3-song EP and it's streaming on their website. Stoner-tinged noise rock performed by members of Low, Steel Pole Bath Tub, and Gay Witch Abortion. Good stuff, definitely recommended if you're into Melvins and/or Young Widows.
im glad that dale flattum is still around, steel pole bath tub's miracle of sound in motion is still one of my fav albums
I listened to that album a couple of times yesterday, it was just as good as I hoped it would be. A shitty album by a band with an amazing name is always a letdown.
here's a band that doesn't let their name go to waste
Hey I was wondering if anyone could help me find a song. It sounded like an old campfire song with an acoustic guitar and it was about space and traveling at the speed of light. One of the lyrics in the chorus was literally "Travelling at the speed of light" this would be much appreciated! Thanks!
dont stop me now
Nah it's not that hahaha Another bit of info is that it's from an album with an orange cover with a drawing of an 80's like spaceship on the front of it

My bad on the descriptions it's been a long time since I've heard it but I absolutely loved it
Oooh shit another veteran has entered the ring. Whats up Noni?
Sorry for taking such a long time to respond Calkkuna, was busy with practice for a local gig with The Vintage Caravan Things have been great. Been working with a lot of musicians (mostly jazz, blues and musicals) and just been building up my home studio. Other news. For those of you who remember me and my band ONI, we gave out our album last year around july and it's now free (pay what you want) on bandcamp. If you have the slightest interest in stoner/prog/sludge rock then give it a whirl https://oniiceland.bandcamp.com/releases
