I just got Remain In Light, More Songs About Buildings and Food, and Speaking in Tongues. I skipped Fear of Music because I could only afford three albums and my cousin personally loves Speaking in Tongues. I'll get Fear of Music eventually though
but if we were gonna rank anything Talking Heads has done it would be stop making sense that hits the top of the list [editline]13th August 2015[/editline]
Anyone remember Pavement? Being one who appreciates obscure music and humor, I really enjoyed their appearance (and performance) on Space Ghost: Coast to Coast, which was pretty much the precursor to Adult Swim on Cartoon Network. Anyhow, wanted to share this mellow jam just to see if others out there appreciated this little known group from California. Pavement and Space Ghost aren't exactly "obscure" although if we're talking musicians on that show this has always been one of my favorites
I guess I consider Pavement and Space Ghost as forgotten relics of the mid-90s. Speaking of Coast to Coast, it is rather impressive to see the lineup of musicians that appeared on that crazy show, from Willie Nelson, Tony Bennett, Beck, Ice-T and Chuck D. James Hetfield and Kirk Hammett as well as Dave Grohl also appeared on there, so damn, I guess you're right, he's not so obscure. But why oh why did Cartoon Network take him off the air.
Been getting more and more math rock albums lately. [editline]13th August 2015[/editline] Probably one of my favorite album closers.
it doesn't matter what it is; if it's shared/known on a forum then it isn't obscure [editline]awd[/editline] unless it's on the dark net
Pavement are a good band, but not an obscure one. They're one of the most influential acts in indie rock, and you'll find that there's still a sizable following if you talk to the right people.

Glad to see I'm not the only Pavement fan on here, I guess a better term would've been forgotten about as opposed to obscure. I found it a shame that bands like Green Day and Weezer became mega stars and I viewed Pavement to be the far better musical act. I guess they did get their time under the sun with a couple of hits... Kind of like what happened with The Melvins and Nirvana during the whole grunge movement, but hey, at least The Melvins are still around.
I am glad that Nirvana and that whole genre aren't a thing anymore. [editline]awd[/editline] This post is 100% serious and this is how I genuinely feel about Nirvana.

I'm confused. Title is either Japaneses or Chinese, song is in English, and video description in Russian, and you're Dutch?
I am glad that Nirvana and that whole genre aren't a thing anymore.
ngl tho Melvins rock hard. like really hard.
I'm confused. Title is either Japaneses or Chinese, song is in English, and video description in Russian, and you're Dutch?
i'm timeless, that song was written by a japanese band. it has english lyrics, that track is raw

[editline]awd[/editline] This post is 100% serious and ithis is how I genuinely feel about Nirvana.
I'll always hate Nirvana for reasons unrelated to the music itself. Basically, my asshole brother would constantly play like two of their albums. In the car? Nirvana. At home? Nirvana. Even worse, once he got a guitar, he started learning to play parts of Nirvana songs, and not only that, but he played them poorly and repetitively. For a few solid months I was subjected to constant Nirvana, day in day out, and I think I'll legitimately feel nauseous if I hear Kurt Cobain's scratchy wail ever again
I too disliked Nirvana. I think hearing "Smells like Teen Spirit" every god damn day made me quickly get tired of them. I did like the In Utero album, but there's only so much I could take with that group and Kurt's vocals. Besides The Melvins, I'd say Alice In Chains and Soundgarden were much better bands, but that's just like, my opinion man.
I don't think there's anything wrong with Nirvana but I do think other bands in the scene were/are far more influential than they were [editline]13th August 2015[/editline] Melvins are great though everyone ought to listen to them
in utero will always stay one of my all time fav records but i really do not care for the rest of nirvanas output at all anymore its just not great
in utero is only any good because albini produced it
I respect nirvana most for those who followed them, fidlar, wavves dudes like that, good stuff man

a friend of mine has been trying to get me into porter robinson, and none of his music sits right with me, i wish i liked it, and i probably should, i just dont. its like, its not dark and lo-fi enough for me to like it as ambient/down tempo gritty electronic its really well produced, but there isnt really enough for me to like it as like bouncy edm stuff either idk i might just be completely missing something but i really dont feel any of his stuff

i'm fucking addicted to this band right now it's like emo kids with long hair staring at their vans and skinny jeans while they're surfing gnarly waves in hawaii at 3am on a wednesday
who is this albini guy?
Steve Albini, very famous producer
