Not gonna lie, it got me to laugh.
If it it's as good as the first, I'll go see it.
so the last movie was supposed to end the spongebob series, will this one? or will nickelodeon milk it until its completely dry
Considering that Fairly Odd Parents is STILL running, and apparently has either a second or a thid live-action movie coming out soon, it's pretty obvious that Nickelodeon is generally in favor of the "milk it dry" strategy.
If a good series like Spongebob ever winds up on Nick, be afraid for its inevitably-elongated future.
It looks way better than most attempts to make movies out of cartoons.
Maybe I am in the minority, but I went in with low expectations and it still looked bad (not the production qualities but the story/writing). Too bad the show used to be good before it got run down into the ground.
....Who wants to bet the show somehow gets even worse than it did after the first movie? :v:
When did this

become hotter then this?

Look's like Nickelodeon actually has some good writers on board for this movie. The CGI doesn't look that bad, really. And it's nice to see that Sandy is going to be a part of the main cast. I was pretty disappointed that she was barely featured in the first movie. Also, most of the jokes in the trailer have made me smile at the least, so it's a massive step up from the shit we've been seeing in the T.V show as of late.
[sp]RIP Squidward's toenail[/sp]
So basically lets throw the first movie and any references to dry land from the past, literally out of the water.

You say that as if Spongebob has always had good continuity. Trust me, it really hasn't.
I feel that people watching this should look at it with at least a somewhat open mind and not automatically put on the rose-tinted/nostalgia glasses and say it sucks "like everything post first movie Spongebob does". Also that people should remember this is made with kids in mind but has subtle nods to adults as well. But we'll wait and see.

The rest are hidden in his spandex.
Why does it look like Mr. Krabs got into bondage gear at 0:47?

Why does Patrick wear high heels and fishnets in the first one?
I was wondering the same thing myself when I saw that.
[sp]For an actual answer, probably because the Pirate was rewriting the book.[/sp]

I wonder if they still have that fiberglass Hasslehoff prop laying around.

i hope some dude bought it just to have it laying around in his house as a decoration or something, showing it off to people when they come over
I have to admit, I really like how the CGI looks in this so far. It has more dedication put into translating the character designs into 3D then most "2D characters remade into 3D and dropped into the real world" movies have. I love how the models even have the same mouth shapes and design quirks that the 2D designs have when rotated, compared to most 3D character models in the past which don't adjust the designs when you look at the characters from different angles.
On the other hand though, it's a little refreshing to see another 2D animated film in America. CGI has made a lot of progress in recent years, but 2D still has its merits.
The writing looks a little meh in this trailer, but I'm interested in keeping an eye on this anyway. I won't lie in saying I got a couple laughs from it too.
Alright, after a rewatch, it seems pretty good.
You say that as if Spongebob has always had good continuity. Trust me, it really hasn't.
I've heard since the first movie came out that it's supposed to take place after any subsequent episodes (and, I assume, movies), so technically this is the first time they've seen a human being on land
Movie doesn't look as cringeworthy as the tv show does nowadays, but it'll never hold a candle to the original. CGI does look better than I expected though.
They were filming this where I live. It was a bit weird to walk down the street certain days and see Antonio Banderas driving a hugeass ship down Broughton laughing his ass off. The boat's massive IRL, looked like it was going to tip more than once.
so the last movie was supposed to end the spongebob series, will this one? or will nickelodeon milk it until its completely dry
It's Spongebob.
They're going to continue dunking him into milk and ringing him dry until he tears to pieces.
So basically lets throw the first movie and any references to dry land from the past, literally out of the water.
literally every time they come out of the water, something different happened.
Hell, they left the water in the first movie and it was totally different from what had been portrayed before. You're just looking at things with rose-tinted specs.
This is like some wild fanfic brought to Hollywood. Not sure what to think.
disappointed that they didn't make squidward super mega handsome in his hero form
One thing that bugs me really hard is the pirate, he wasn't evil, he just was a fan of Sponge Bob, why make him evil?
I'm willing to bet that the last pape is the Krabby Patty secret formula, which knowing modern SpongeBob, will still never be revealed in the movie.
